Really Low T3 for a Slow Metabolism?

Hey guys, Ive been thinking of including some t3 to my regimen. Ive got a really slow metabolism and have to go low cals to get to 10% or sub so I was thinking of putting in around 12.5 mcg of t3 and perhaps increasing it to 25 as my natural thyroid levels start to drop(as times goes on)? What are your opinions on this? Oh and I dont think I will nt lose alot of muscle since my metabolism doesnt burn muscles at just 200 g of protein and 120 minutes of steady state cardio per day (all done and tested).

Also Ive read about different diets while on t3, some suggest a low carb approach and Ive read about using keto diets without refeeds(the logic is that if you are getting external t3 a refeed isnt really necesary and your body will have to go through the adapting phase to a keto metabolism).

Currently im at around 13%-15% and shooting for 10% or sub depending on how I feel as time goes on.

Thanks for your time

I don’t feel as though you have a ‘slow metabolism’. Go see your doc for bloodwork and then maybe an endocrinologist.

13 to 15% fat is no indication of a thyroid problem.

Plus, post your diet and training, but go see your doctor if you are really concerned.

I never meant that I have a thyroid problem just that my body goes really low with t3 really fast. Currently I train 2 lactic and 2 heavy sessions per week. I started my diet 5 weeks ago on 2500 kcal and 4h of cardio per week and now im at around 1600-1800 kcals and 7h cardio a week (and this was after a mass phase) and Ive lost only 6 lbs!

Anyways mostly I want t3 because now increasing my cardio or lowering my kcals means interfering with my studying. So Ive decided to do a 1 week reset and continue with low dosaged of t3 after.

So noone has some exp on using such low doses?

You’ve already said you only take in 200g of protein. Now you’re only taking in 1600-1800 cals. What do you expect to happen?

I expect your muscle to wither. Why so low on protein and cals? Sounds like diet is the problem (and your workouts dont seem right either), not your T3 levels.

Yah man, my brother is a fatass too, he eats cake all day. Should start taking test.

I defintely agree with what TheBigV said. You seem to just not know what you are doing (no offense). I STRONGLY recommend getting to know how to eat and train right before moving on to more extreme measures. At the VERY most I would try Test first (but I still strongly suggest against that)

How much do you weigh?

You guys misunderstood what I meant. I meant once I tried (during my last cut) cutting cals so low and ate only 200 g of prots a day and ran 120 minutes and my body still wouldnt use muscle as fuel. Im 190 lbs currently.

Anyways whats wrong my training regimen, 2 lactics and 2 heavy ( back/chest and legs)?

And I dont think my diet was bad, I lowered my cals or added cardio when my body stopped going down on the scale…

If im wrong correct me, Im all ears

If you cut your calories and everything so low and your body didn’t start burning muscle you must be defying thermodynamics. Simply something I can’t believe.

Defying thermodynamics? Definitively not :P, but a big drop in t3 levels (feeling cold in the morning etc) - yes. Thats why Im thinking about adding some t3, I mean such low doses wont surpress my thyroid and will add a boost to my metabolism, and of course at the start of this I would bump up the calories and gradually lower them with t3 until I get an optimal of around 3 lbs lost per week.

Also it seems to me that you think im some lardass trying to go the easy way- but Im not, my diet is very tight even on mass phases (rarely cheat more than once a month etc).

So anyways im still all ears on advice or experiences on such doses.

Some time back, Bill Roberts wrote in this forum about a low-dose T3 protocol, 12.5 mcg/day if I recall correctly. I thought I had it bookmarked, but apparently not on this computer, and I can’t find it in the archives.

I tried it for a while myself (a few weeks), but it was at a time when my diet and training were not well dialed in. Basically, I was looking for a shortcut. I didn’t see much in the way of results, but I also don’t think it hurt me in any way.

I’m siding with the other posters here in suggesting that you work on your diet and training rather than experimenting with T3, for now.
