Realistic TRT Recomp Progress

Since my wife injects me, she massages the site vigorously for about a minute. Really helps.

Love that you do that. My wife would be so freaked out by sticking a needle into me, lol. She cringes whenever she sees me inject.

Shit, she makes a game of it. I lay down and she slaps my ass a little, swabs me with alcohol and pins me. When she’s really feeling perky, she sticks the cotton swab in my ass crack!! :joy:

I use the Samsung Gear S3 watch (there are newer even more accurate models now). It’s pretty accurate and I get a smart watch for $300.

You burn almost 500 calories sleeping?? Damn… I need to sleep much much more… Haha

My cardio is humping my pillow for 6 hours. TRT ups your humping ability by up to 75%. Johann77 posted a study on it.

That one is actually pretty good-looking and the sleep details look super informative. Interesting. I’ve been tempted by smart watches but have held off for 3 reasons:

  1. Most of them are ugly. I wear a sharp watch and don’t want to replace it with a fat FitBit, for instance. Some fashion brands (like Fossil) are starting to make better-looking ones now, though.
  2. I wonder about EMFs and whether wearing something like that does more harm than good. Obviously there’s no way to really know at this point but wouldn’t be surprised to see research come out down the road.
  3. I really only want the movement, sleep, and heart rate tracking…the last thing I want is to receive notifications on my wrist. Life feels too interrupted as it is.

It’s all about the band, Stan.

You can set it to not have any notifications, only certain notifications, etc basically whatever you want.

Yeah, that one does look good. Good to know, man! I’d definitely be turning off pretty much all notifications. Our lives are too plugged in these days; bad for cortisol. I only use my FitBit (I keep the hub of it, detached from the band, in my pocket) to track steps.

One of the best things about Israetel’s program so far has been trying out new movements or movements I’ve just never worked into my routine. For example, I had never done the JM Press before, but you can really feel this one in the triceps. Such a different stimulus from traditional skullcrushers or close-grip benching.

I know you have complained about the time it took to draw and inject with the insulin needles so thought this info may or may not help you. I’ve been using 1/3ml 29g 1/2" syringes for a while now and they have been relatively easy for me. I went in to get a new box and all they had available were 1ml 29g 1/2". I’m glad they only had a 10 pack because I would be pissed if I had to go through 100 of these damn things. They are an absolute pain in the ass to draw and inject from and have doubled the time to use then the others I had. They are the same brand and everything so the only thing that changed was the size of the barrel. I didn’t think that would have changed anything but it did. Not sure what size of barrel you are using, but if using the 1ml maybe going to 1/3ml would help you out.

Thanks, brother!

Given bruising and discomfort, I’ve been contemplating switching from SQ injections in the naval region to using the ventrogluteal area. There are a lot of positive reviews of this injection site and seems promising. Anyone here have experience with it? Pros/cons?

I have a couple hang-ups:

  1. Just bought a bunch of 30g 1/2ā€ needles, and I don’t think these could be used for the VG — correct? I believe this is an IM injection and would require a lower gauge needle (ex 27).
  2. It’s really hard to find where that VG spot actually is. I’ve watched videos and looked at diagrams but still not 100% sure I understand, and afraid of injecting in the wrong spot.

I think more of the length of the needle versus the gauge is more important if your going IM EDIT:
for the ventrogluteal area I mean, as I use 1/2" for IM in the thighs and delts
.
Saying that I don’t believe the smaller gauges get that long though. I never did IM in that area, but did try sub q there every now and then. Felt a lot better then the navel area to me. I never bruised but the injections would sting a lot more in the abdominal area for me. I never seemed to get the lumps there or on my thighs, going sub q, that I did with the abs either.

You could do IM in the delts with that

Yup, that’s what I use/do

What kind of body fat % are you guys at?

Are the bathroom scales that supposedly measure that accurate at all? Seems like they might be OK at reading whether you’re going up or down but not sure how they’d know exactly what the number actually is.

I got one the other day and it’s saying 16% for me

They definitely aren’t perfect but actually do a pretty good job. Mine says I’m at 14.5%. Sounds about right. I’m sure it depends on the scale too, though. We can give you a ballpark if you want to post a photo.

You go 30g 1/2" into the delts? Alternating sides?
