Raw Power

Nice work all around Jack…

Thats some damn fine lifting. 500 soon on the deads.

Everything looking strong. I like the combo upper body/lower body workouts. Reading your workouts makes me want to do a cycle of it again.

Thanks folks for the encouragement folks. I need it.

Squats: 45 x10, 135 x5, 185 x3, 225 x1, 275 x1, 315 x1, 355 x1, 385 x1, 315 x3.

Bench: 45 x20, 135 x5, 185 x3, 225 x1, 245 x1, 265 x1, 285 x1, 265 x1, 245 x3.

Cable Rows: 160 x10, 180 x10, 200 x10, 220 x10.

Notes: I hit 385 deep and it moved faster that the last two squat days. Bench was around my absolute max, 290 would not have gone. I’m hungry and tired and hopefully adapting to the new routine.

We may have everybody over 35 lifting every day or close to it and those younguns will be crying foul.

Jack great stuff as always… bench and squat in the same day is way over my skis…Bench is coming back nicely give it time and beat the crap out of it!! have a great weekend

Your squats day after deadlifting 455 is are epic.

GV, kids these days. Old Man Strength! Old Man Strength!

Haha, thanks fellas. I fear winter is coming.

Squats: 45 x10, 135 x5, 185 x3, 225 x1, 275 x1, 315 x1, 365 x1, 395 x1, 365 x1, 315 x3.

Bench: 45 x20, 135 x5, 185 x3, 225 x1, 245 x1, 265 x1, 285 x1, 265 x1, 245 x3.

Chins: 11, 7, 6.

Notes: 395 moved fast and I hit the backoff sets with a pause at rock bottom. I think squats are going to move up for me fairly quickly. But my low back is really screaming at me. 285 on bench was a grinder at right at my max. I suspect my bench will languish like always.

Nice work on the squats and bench. Now you’re making me see I have to do more bench work.

My diet has gone crazy in the last week or two. I need to figure out how to reign it in or change training tactics. Morning BW 222.

Those backoff pause squats are legit!

My diet sucks too. I’ve gained about 12 pounds since my last meet in June. I need to work this fat gut off.

Less than six weeks to get your squat back to 400 is impressive.

Maybe your diet has gone crazy because you’re training every day? Didn’t you last compete in the 198s?

You just need to go to more contests as weight control…

I would expect your need for food, and your weight, to go up with those pause squats.

Dude my bench jumped when I started uping the lower weight reps leading up to one heavy single. If your bench doens’t move for a bit give it a try.

Actually its been a while since my last meet, and that was in the 242’s. I’d really like to be in the 198s for my next one, but its proving tough to get strong without pigging out.

Everyone, thanks a bunch for the encouragement. In really appreciate it.

Squat: 45 x10, 135 x5, 185 x3, 225 x1, 275 x1, 315 x1, 365 x1, 405 x1, 365 x2, 315 x3.

Bench: 45 x20, 135 x5, 185 x3, 225 x1, 245 x1, 265 x1, 285 x1, 265 x2, 245 x3.

Machine Rows: 90 x10, 180 x10, 270 x10, 360 x10, 450 x10, 360 x10, 270 x10, 180 x10.

Notes: I took a day off and I think it did me some good. 405 felt heavy when I un-racked it but I buried it and it came up fast. Bench also improved. 285 had a nice pause and it came up pretty easy–not the same grind as that last few sessions. I’ll try and go up on bench next time. BW 220 this morning, I am going to do my best to reign in the food bit still eat enough to get stronger.

EAT, BUILD, Grow! OH YEAH!
