-BW 70kg - circa 2kg up from starting creatine 10 days ago, and eating the same, so it definately has an impact on water retention @TM79 yet to push to see if the lifts are any different though (carries getting better but that comes with training them each session too).
Plenty of good work going on in here my friend! So you have put on almost 5 pounds (forgive my non-metric brain
) from taking creatine for 10 days? That does seem like a lot… You’re taking 15 grams per day, correct? That might be the cause. Perhaps cut your daily dose in half, etc. I have seen some decent gains from taking 5 grams per day. As far as weight change, unfortunately, I have not stepped on a scale in a while, and have opted instead to just look in the mirror and see how tight my belt/pants fit, how I feel, etc. I hadn’t noticed any significant weight gain in the last few months, but it wouldn’t surprise me if I have put on a few pounds (mostly muscle).
Within a few weeks I noticed a big difference in muscle endurance. I started it a month before “Murph” and quickly noticed I was able to do much higher volume in my training without getting fatigued. After Murph was done I switched to a more bodybuilding type of program and usually do several sets to failure (or to within one rep of failure) in each session. I have noticed some solid gains on almost every lift since then.
As far as cognitive effects, I have noticed that I am mentally sharper in general. This is most noticeable when playing difficult songs on guitar. I don’t screw up as much…
Also my typing on a keyboard is noticeably faster and more accurate.
If you’re not digging the weight gain, I would suggest lowering your dose. I think there are still some gains to be had, even at a lower dose. ![]()
Coach didn’t show today so no BJJ this am - 5.30am alarm for nothing!, but gym at lunch is the plan.
@TM79 bringing creatine back in was more to see if there’s any cognitive benefits. Hoping/anticipating the weight gain is just water (and not fat!) given food intake has been fairly standard. Correct 2-3kg increase so circa 5-6lbs. Nice to read on the progress there at your end. I’m running easy strength atm, but need to start to nudge up the weights to see how it fares, will keep you posted!
I think my guitar was dropped/whacked during shuffling things around in the spare room. Hasn’t sounded right since. Need to double check the tuner but suspect there’s a crack or similar in the body of the guitar. Single string notes sound ok, but start strumming and it just sounds off…. weird!

-so it would seem these ‘ibs like symptoms’ recently were most likely not food but creatine related @TM79 as I’ve sit saturation level, as such backing off the dose to maintenance levels ![]()
Good looking session! I could only imagine the stomach symptoms when taking 15 grams…
Hopefully that will resolve with maintenance levels.

Re guitar…. only had it a few years and it does not get enough time (still just practicing a few notes here and there). On the positive, I found the issue, the built in tuner was not quite correct. Used an online app on my phone to check it, retuned and now it’s sounding like it should. phew! @TM79 @burien_top_team

-forgot to log, Coach won a masters gold and silver at nationals last week, in open and over 100kg divisions respectfully. Gold win was vs a guy who previously won bronze in world championships (iirc) so an awesome effort.
