BJJ 1hr, all levels class

-side control escapes including when opponent’s hips come around, grab a fireman’s carry position wise then roll them over shoulders to the ground.
-some good rolls after with P and J, but the coach rightly pointed out I need more work on my frames (it’s slowly getting better - initial reaction is to protect the head/neck but need to frame those hips!), so finished with some extra specific framing drills with J.

-defo a good way to start the week @shaneinga @TM79 given it’s a monday morning for us here time wise.
-I do like my sport @dchris but defo aussie! Was nice as a kid when the superbowl was televised during school holidays here in Australia, have been watching nfl ever since (packers fan here)!

BJJ 1hr, all levels class

-side control escape into closed guard, then going straight for a triangle. Really working the shoulder clamp, hip swing.
-some good rounds after. RNC on Ja, but tapped plenty to Jo. Just the three of us and coach today so a few rests in there, and also worked more on triangle technique after. Quality session.

-mount escapes into single leg x
-good rounds thereafter, countered a number of moves and hit some nice sweeps. Later roll against a purple belt and he jokingly threw a spine lock on me… then told me after ‘we don’t do those to white belts’, good times…!

Weekend Yardio

Lawns badly needed a mow, did that Saturday, plus other yard work, 12k steps.

Sunday, neighbour giving away old pebbles prior to them redoing their front yard, cue me farmer carrying multiple buckets full of stones 50m ish. Then finished covering the old lawn out front with cardboard then mulch (2x ute loads), plus other tidying up. 23k steps

Then a few well earned beers to cap off a solid weekend’s work.

Will plant these areas out with natives once the summer heat is gone…

-requested N-S attack options for today. So practiced kimura and back takes from N-S, then into a N-S choke if their head comes up. Then some pyramiding to pin the hips.
-good rolls today, keeping as calm as possible whilst getting hammered again pretty much on defence the whole time.

Solid work on those deads! Had to look up cossacks. I remembered that I did them but haven’t done them in many years. After looking them up I think I’ll keep them a distant memory… :joy:

BJJ 1hr, all levels class

-H requested single leg x transitions, so got to work on shin to shin grips into single leg x then various guard transitions again, z guard, outside ashi etc.
-good rolls thereafter. Keeping things as calm as possible. Even battle with Ja, survived a whole 5mins vs H (first time ever!?) with plenty of different guards used, just one tap vs Jo (cruisy roll though) and got a flower sweep into attempted arm bar on him, then a roll with the Coach! He wouldn’t let me past his hipline despite my best efforts - cue him grabbing an arm into an arm bar a few times, along with an ezekiel whilst I was trying to escape his mount. Good times!
-next comp is early March, alas unlikely I can make it as wife already has plans that day. tba on that…
-still have doms today @TM79 defo just BW on the cossacks next time me thinks!

-Signed up for the next bjj comp, being it’s on a long weekend, the attendee numbers appear to be low.
-Just 2x of us in the 145 white belt division thus far. I just went adult in lieu of masters given I’d just get moved into adult division anyways! Comp is just under 2x weeks so lowering carbs atm.
-BW 67.5kg (target 66kg - 145lb division).

-Coach ran thru starting from Z guard, process to get to underhook, then crunching in to get that hand on hip for old school sweep. Worked through two variations of that sweep.
-shark tanked this for 2x 5min rounds
-single roll with J1 where he went easy so we got to roll and counter each other on various moves, but he still got a few submissions on me. Good session.
-BW66.5kg this am, keeping the carbs lower and glycogen/water reserves obviously dropping a bit.
