Quite fucking true!
Nothing better than finishing squats and moving onto⦠DEADLIFTS!!
what are your maxes? I want a good goal to work towards
[quote]Spencerulz wrote:

I donāt max for two reasons:
Strength means very little to me. Itās fun to use big weights with good form but the end goal is to build muscle not strength. They go hand in hand in many cases but in my opinion training for muscle size never requires maxing out.
Risk of Injury
Having said that if I could ballpark them in the off season when I weigh about 185-190 I would say flat bench 330-340 pounds, squat 380-390 pounds, and Iām not currently deadlifting but I bet could still step up and pull 400+ just from having done it so much a few years back. Iād hurt my back in the process though ![]()
tfrench just wanted to chime in to say you are the man!
Honestly, you are an inspiration. When someone is so hard working and dedicated, and also willing to help others out with advice (and is more humble than he should be) thatās a solid dude and quite the breath of fresh air.
Your physique is just about flawless in my opinion. This may sound weird, but to me, itās at the point where you look huge and ripped upāplenty to be a successful BBāer and more, but not excessively freaky to where people would look and say, āNah, ewwwā
Just my $0.02
I second that. He knows he has an A+ physique and heās humble more than enough. Iāve seen alot of threads where there are these people wanting their physiques rated and theyāre pricks when people say they need work. Check out The Beast Awakens if you want to see a trainwreck. Good job man, your an inspiration. How long have you been lifting?
I love the smile on your face in your avatar; it shows such satisfaction from the work you have done!
I know this may sound like a silly question but I am trying to get a general idea of how much protein people like you are eating on a daily basis. Do you have any idea?

Well thank you very much! Humility doesnāt exactly run rampant in bodybuilding, but I do my best to stay grounded. I talk to people in the gym when they ask me questions, I try to answer all my PMās and forum questions on here.
The reason I try to āgive backā so to speak, is because I remember what it was like to be the one asking the questions instead of giving the answers. Bodybuilding requires lots knowledge on diet, training, supplementation, and those are just broad topics.
Where else are beginners going to get this knowledge if vets donāt help them out? Experience is irreplacable but you are worlds ahead if you can get expert guidance from the get-go.
Keep in mind Iām only a welterweight competitor right now, so my stage weight is right at 170. Honestly Iād like to see myself as a light heavyweight one day in the NPC, maybe if Iām lucky competing in the IFBB in the 202 lb division.
So I donāt mind if people donāt like the way I look, I do this for me. I am married and have 3 kids anyway so Iām not real worried about otherās opinions because my family loves me regardless of how big I get ![]()
In fact Iād like to gross some people out ![]()

That 7th place finish at Jr. Nationals was enough to keep me humble. When I went out and did my first show I DOMINATED, so I might have head a little bit of an ego coming into Jr. Nationals.
It was the KY state championships last August and I won the novice lightweight class, the novice overall title and the open welter weight class, so I thought this sport was a breezeā¦
Then I stepped on the national stageā¦EYE OPENER.
In a way Iām thankful because it taught me that I still have lots of room for improvement. Every show from this point on is a learning experience and I plan to apply everything I learn so that each show is better than the last.
I started lifting weights when I was about 15 or so, in College I became more serious with it, and these past 2-3 years I have been what I would consider very serious about it.

It is pretty cool to see yourself and your hard work paid off when you get close to show time. Itās amazing what you can do your body with will power and hard work!
I donāt count anything, not calories, fat, carbs or protein, but if I had to guess how much protein I eat per day (keep in mind this is 3 weeks out from a show) I would guess about 375 - 400 grams per day, spread over about 17 hours of being awake.
Beautiful body.
Do you have any bodybuilders as mentors/idols?
so does being so close to a show mean your eating more protein than normal to make up for a decrease in carbs? also how much fat do you think you take in? thanks for all the help

I used to work out and am still goof friends with Tricky Jackson, he taught me quite a bit about the sport. He still answers all the questions I have as well.
I donāt really have any bodybuilder idols though. Thereās a lot of pros whoās physiques impress me, but I donāt really idolize any of them so to speak.
hey tā¦do you mind me asking what your ab routine looks like? thanks

I second that, what is your ab routine. Me Iām too fat, myself. LOL
[quote]1morerep wrote:

Honest truth - I never did them until about 5 weeks ago. Maybe a few crunch movements here and there but never a consistent ab routine. I hit them maybe twice a week now, usually focusing on my lower abs since the top four seem to be ok for now, but I work them a little too. Right now Iām using heavier sets for abs because I want them to āpop outā more on stage. maybe 6-8 sets every 3rd day. usually in the 10-15 rep range.

Thanks man - I would agree but Iām not sure if Iāll ever have a real impressive peak on my biceps, i think that has more to do with genetics than anything else. Iām hitting arms twice a week these days so Iām doing my best to make them bigger. Iām not a real believer in doing exercises to āimprove the peakā - I think thatās like saying Iām working to help my lats insert lower.
