Hey guys, lurker to the site figured I would post some pics after about 7 months of training with bodyweight only. Flame away if you must, just looking for some solid feedback and appreciate any and all constructive comments.
I am a competitive Submission grappler and climber. 20 years old 5’6 140lbs. Looking to get to about 160 ish. I am about performance but I would be lying if I said I didnt care about aesthetics.
Thanks very much for your time. O and routine revolves around gymnast style training. Explosive maximal and endurance training. Follow a lot of Ross’s principles over at www.RossTraining.com Again all bodyweight routines.
haha…well lemme just say tan up a lil bit big boy. If your into grappling your forearm/grip strength look a little on the undeveloped side. Ever look into strongman movement and/or kettlebells? if your into a lot of BW workouts kettlebells would be a great thing to constitute into it.
LMAO, appreciate the actual constructive responses guys. Yeah I need a tan, my arms neck and face are great but I work and go to school full time so taking off my shirt while working in IT is out. Agreed on the tan for sure. Also if I would want to delete that pic how would I? I hit edit and all it lets me do is put some more text in their? Kettlebells have always sounded good but they for me anyways are ridiculously priced for a broke college student.
Also Im working on the forearm grip strength, never had a problem with it, but hey i wouldnt mind popeye forearms lol. I have the full set of heavy grippers from Heavy Grips Hand Grippers
Also any of you guys know if I can actually develop my lacking chest with bodyweight style training my back is coming along quite nicely. Just wish I could get the chest area as well.
your chest and back are like night and day… i actually questioned whether or not it was the same person … or two different ppl with the same tattoos…
i thought for grappling though the chest wasn’t all that important?
anyway weighted pushups obviously
and also weighted/unweighted chest dips… which just means ur doing dips with a wider grip… those work well for chest depth since this is what ur severely lacking… prolly my favorite exercise
i think you have done quiet well with only bodyweight. in better shape than i was at ur age .why not incorporate weights into ur training as well coupled with lots of stretching it can only help u with your chosen sport good luck
what do you want more to be good climber/grappler or better asthetics? Your going to have to gain some weight-which would hurt you in climbing, and force you to move up a weight hurting you in grappling- in order to get better aesthetics. Your not going to get much bigger fuller muscles without eating/heavylifting and putting on size everywhere.
