Oh yes, Rawkus was great! I bought nearly everything that they released.

Haha, I saw PGA linked to Will Smith songs:) I remember ones when he accepted an award at MTV MVA, in his speech he described his music as “real hip hop”. That was funny. He needs a little reality check:)

Yeah …He was "GETTING JIGGY WITH IT " …Great actor …But raps not his forte kind of like Michael Jordan when he tried his hand at Baseball .

Geto Boys

I just finished reading an interview with Carlos Santana in the latest issue of GuitarOne magazine where he was talking about the wide array of influences he had as a young musician. One thing he said was, “I learned not to be racist, because if you only want to hear a certain kind of music and you hate someone for doing something else, you might as well just get a Ku Klux Klan outfit.”

So Santana Likes every musician he’s ever heard ,And has absoulutely no music he just doesn’t care for ? I find this real hard to beleive … However It sounds like a comment a celebrity would make to sound “ENLIGHTENED”.

And I hardly see how not likeing oh say…Justin Timberlake’s “MUSIC” would make onefit to join the KKK .

Other good rappers/groups that I don’t think have been mentioned include Raekwon, The Foundation Movement, Atmosphere, Big L, Saigon, Dead Prez, Gang Starr, Immortal Technique, Canibus (crazy lyricism), and Talib Kweli.

Saigon will save Hip Hop

How about some Bone Thugs n Harmony.

(Bomb ass track)

Favorite track of all time-
Never Let Me Down - Kanye and Jay-Z

Shit, when has Too Short EVER had a hit? Still gets mad play. Yea, Nate Dogg hasn’'t had a hit record in forever, but he is still all over the radio with guest appearances on other albums.

Pac and biggie are still probably spun more at any house party, even though they’ve been dead for a decade. Crazy.

Most of the rap you here now is all commercial crap.

Here in Detroit, we still play the good stuff. Detroit rap is more raw, less pop.

Lots of old and new school Tupac, Nate Dogg is VERY popular here so is Too Short, DMX and Biggie and obviously Eminem.

Believe it or not, most people here hate Diddy, Ludacris and JayZ. Flashy, poppy rappers don’t get much play round here.

But still, to this very day, nobody gets more love and play than Pac, hands down.

When was the last time Nate Dogg had a hit? Shit, 1992? DMX (while someone I have every cd of) hasn’t been doing too well lately either. Biggie and Tupac shouldn’t even be put into the same sentence as anyone else considering they were both considered the best at one time and both were murdered. Their stuff is classic now if for no other reason than who they were.

I’m from Texas. The local hip hop scene around there is like nothing else. You have artists who have never been considered “national stars” who get ridiculous play down there. I can understand that completely. What I don’t get are those who start hating “individuals” instead of actually listening to the music.

Yes, hip hop is a culture possibly more than it is just the music. But that type of “bandwagon hatred” is something I just don’t get. No one is going to tell me who to like or not like when it comes to music and I would never base my judgement of a song on whether some people consider that person “flashy”.
I’ve Dj’s in clubs in a few states, from Boston to Florida and no matter what Biggie track I would drop, everyone knew the lyrics.

But like I said that’s not all black people ,But everytime I point out this mindset you put words in my mouth ,and act as if I’m saying all blacks are this way…I think your a closet racist ,And from your tone of posts I would be willing to bet your black and fit the profile I just described .Or do you think a black person can’t be racist ?

You have just made the point of every thread I made to you. Good job!

what that your black so you don’t think you could possibly be racist .

your so deep in the closet your seeing Christmas presents .
How, from my posts or profile, can you gather what ethnicity I am? Because I made comments opposing your ideals?

Can blacks be racist? Yes. I have no problems responding to a black racist if they present me the opportunity. You are not black and you made misguided and inflammatory remarks, so I chose to respond to you.

I don’t recall ever calling you a racist in any of your posts though, ignorant of other cultures maybe, but shit like this makes me wonder.

Have a family member or friend read some of your posts, see what they think. So far, a lot of people here are interpreting that you are an asshole who is trying to prove he is not a racist by starting a thread on Rap music.

Telling me I fit your “black” profile tells a lot about you. You are one who makes off the cuff judgements and remarks with very little knowledge. That is usually someone who is immature and is very limited in life experience.
