Just about anything pre-96 for me. The last albums I really liked were Biggie’s first, just about anything Tupac and Nas’ first. After that, hip-hop sold out and I dislike much of what is out now.
did yall read what i wrote? everlast is erik schroedy, the bald guy with the goatee who is the same everlast that sang “what its like” he was the lead rapper
danny boy was the dude in the hat on the jump around video and is now a graphic design artist, and dj lethal is now with limp bizkit. dogs right, the chronic IS the most influential rap album of all time, from a commercial appeal. i read an article that said in a 100 yrs, human development classes will study the chronic as a basis for behavior in this era [early 90’s through present].
pretty wild if you think about it
Way off the topic (I can’t stand commerical hip hop/rap crap.) but this statement reminded me of a funny story.
"Ask them if they can explain why they keep the pants waist so low, and maybe the flyest of them all will be able to tell you that this was done to mimic prison conditions, where no belts are allowed,ya know, gangsta style. "
My friend works in a jail, and when inmates wear their pants below their waists the next laundry day they receive the next size smaller pants. This continues until the pants are just about painted on. then they have to ask for the correct size again.
What if selling-out was the normal process of any band, and the true
a just a statistical exception?
Getting rich through music is the goal for most artists (reminds some Get Rich or Die Trying
album name). Why is everybody so appaled at the selling out thing?
(Note: One thing that sucks is the second album pumped to cash in on the demand
shit. Second albums are almost always shitty. Which is just another sort of selling out, too.)
thanks white flash.
What do you guys think of Twista? Sometimes he is a little too thug… but you have to appreciate the speed and skill. Going by what most of you guys listen to… it sounds like you’d like him alot.
Check his “Adrenaline Rush” record. I think he’s had another one in the works for like the past 4 years thats supposed to be out soon.
anything after 2001 sucks.
Listen to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - Frontline Warriors. I’m not familiar with which guys rap when in that song but the second guy to start rapping will make your fucking head spin.
My friend and I joked one time about making ESL students go insane by having them listen to that song and see if they can write down the lyrics. It probably isn’t really funny to you guys but it was pretty damn funny at the time.
The Rap/Hip-Hop genra is just an excuse for people to look and act like morons.
Is there any particular reason for letting your jeans hang past your ass? What purpose does that serve?
Why do rappers write vile garbage that promotes a shit lifestyle(the "hood") and conveys women as objects?
No, I do not listen to rap.
Dustin
of course i’ll sit on my high-horse and talk shit about these fake ass clowns sellin out, talkin bout jewels and ice and broads and rides etc… but the fact is, if some ponytailed rec. exec offerd me millions of dollars to sound like everyother piece’o’shit no talent ass clown, you’d probably see me on my new album cover with ice in one hand and a phat stripper ass in the other.
yall be good, flash
p.s.
goldbergs right, most shit after 2001 is garbage, but dudes like nas, mosdef, thirston howell, last emporer and a few others are still worth listenin to, but they’re fewand far between
Eminem beat the shit out of some bouncer at a night club named Guerrero. From all accounts the bouncer was rather large and eminem did it alone. Some accounts say that he even pistol whipped him…i would not call him a pussy, plus he has the best flow since Tupac.
hey dustin,
what purpose does you dockers tights and polo shirts serve?
why do we all have to dress like you to be accepted by you?
any guy that wears tight pants is gay!!!
P-Dog,
"what purpose does you dockers tights and polo shirts serve?"
Cute. Actually I don't wear polo shirts that often, nor do I wear dockers.
"why do we all have to dress like you to be accepted by you?"
First, you should answer the questions I asked in my post. No where did I say anything about people dressing like me.
"any guy that wears tight pants is gay!!!"
Wow, another witty retort! Seriously, answer my questions and then I will reply to yours. Don't put words in my mouth either.
dustin you need to look into something further before you open your mouth. hip-hop is not an excuse for people to “act like morons.” its a means of expression and a way for some to tell their stories or paint pictures with words. now if you read any of my earlier posts, you’ll see that i think todays hip-hop scene is garbage, and MOST of these clowns couldnt rap their way out of a wet paper bag. but go listen to ready to die [biggie] or illmatic [nas]. and even though you may not be able to relate with what they’re sayin, you should be able appreciate the talent it takes to express themselves. and saggin their pants is a style. you might not agree with it, but then they probably dont agree with wearin members only jackets and nut huggers while smokin little sinister cigars.
yall be good, flash
Never heard of non-phixion? one of the illest out there. Swollen members, arsonists, saukrates, plus some of the older members of rawkus records. Check out www.hiphopsite.com for the more underground stuff…
P-Dog, my pants are tight because i have to wear 42’s just so they will fit over my legs and ass. Maybe one day you will move out of the husky section into some real man clothes.
White Flash-
"dustin you need to look into something further before you open your mouth."
I know plenty about hip-hop, which is the problem. I don't watch MTV,BET, or VH1 and the lingo, clothing style, and music is continually shoved down my throat.
"hip-hop is not an excuse for people to "act like morons."
Well, they had me fooled. The lyric themes and the constant "thuggish" image that is maintained is ridiculous. Not only that, the everyday kids that listen to it, whether they are black or white, are not going to get anywhere in life if they try to act like their hip-hop idols. I'm constantly amazed at how many teens and people my age (22) come into my store to buy supplements and can't even put a sentence together without saying "shit", "fuck", or using street talk. And the store I work at is in a middle-class area of Tulsa.
"its a means of expression and a way for some to tell their stories or paint pictures with words. now if you read any of my earlier posts, you'll see that i think todays hip-hop scene is garbage, and MOST of these clowns couldnt rap their way out of a wet paper bag."
Well, as you mentioned, the rappers today don't paint much of a story. If you think earlier rap was better then that's fine, I'll take your word for it. To me there is not much talent involved, at least musically. I know people that can make up lyrics to a beat just like any other rapper, but I don't see how that makes one talented. The words they make up make just as much sense as any other popular rap artist.
"and even though you may not be able to relate with what they're sayin, you should be able appreciate the talent it takes to express themselves."
Like I said, I don't see much talent in hip-hop. Now some of the "artists" have good singing voices, which is definately a talent, but beyond that I'm not convinced.
"and saggin their pants is a style. you might not agree with it, but then they probably dont agree with wearin members only jackets and nut huggers while smokin little sinister cigars."
I see it more as a fad. Kind of like the "Seattle Movement" in the early 90s. People were wearing flannel(sp?) all the time, that "style" was everywhere.
Dustin
Women aren’t objects?
What exactly is “crunk” ???
