But why do most Americans want health care reform?

Because they are the gutter trash of the country and want something for nothing… its a means of buying votes from the lazy and you know it… Liberals get elected because they think they are freaking robin hood… I’ll take someone elses money who is “rich” and give it to you because your too lazy to get a job…

Then you turn around and tell me that taking medicare away (even though it doesnt work and most people choose not to get a job because its easier to get medicare to pay for it) is a bad idea… we NEVER should have start S.S or Medicare/medicad … whatever happened to working hard for what you have / want…

Also, if you want real health reform, get rid of the trial lawyers bs lawsuits and boarders on companies insuring people… When the Govt messes with the free market system shit spirals downward, and turning more control over too them is NOT going to fix it… taking it back from them (away from govt contro) is what will…[/quote]

I forgot about the ambulance chasers, GOOD POINT!!! If I remember correctly John Edwards (John Kerrys) running mate sued the companies that made flu shots so badly that there was only one left, which caused a shortage in supply which they then tried to blame on Bush.

Insurance should be no more than an accounting procedure. It is all about counting beans. There is no need for profit or exorbitant salaries

Excellent.

Tell you what, since they all make “excessive profits” anyway, why not build an insurance company that makes only moderate profits and takes everyone with pre existing conditions and so further and so on.

Once you have figured out how to do that get back to us and we will bow to you.

And you would be a billionaire, which, even though the dollar is not what it was, would be pretty cool.

Interesting note Blue Cross and Blue Shield lost their tax exempt status in 1986
I do not imagine I would have to use my imagination to much it is already recorded in history

What?

Big business lobbied big government to get rid of unwanted competition?

Outrageous!

Clearly governments influence on health care needs to be minimized to make such shenanigans impossible!

When I was a kid I was covered under BCBS, I was until 1984. It was a very good plan. No
Co pays no limitations we did not have prescriptions, you could use any Doctor and as I recall there was no screening process. It was considered a Cadillac

I did not pay for this it was part of a contract between my employer and the USWA. Damn Communists liberal bastards  I doubt many people feel that way about their Ins. today

Where did you get the amount of knowledge that you possess for being such a young man?

Okay, because people just do things out of the goodness of their heart with no benefit to themselves. Show where it was not for profit?

You should look at the regulations of insurance companies. And are you saying you worked at USWA when you were a kid?

Exactly correct, they started a paper system and printed money that meant nothing, the only ones who had gold or silver were government employees, soldiers and those who had it through family. They tried to include everyone they took over instead of conquering them.

here is a great book on the topic.

funny we are making all the same mistakes

So it collapsed after nearly a 1000 years because of poor economic policy… How does this have to do with it being centrally planned and failing because of it? I’d say that’s failure in extremely slow motion.
