Apparently it is, considering there have been 50 page thread on it - a concept as fuckin simple as this…

Top set: 200 x 10

Here’s how you do a fucking ramp.

Warmup sets:
40 x a bazillion (for teh good blud flowz)
80
110
140

Work sets:
160 x 10
180 x 10
200 x 10

This is typical bodybuilding shit.

If you ramp up for a 1 or 3 rep max, it looks like this.

3 RM: 300

Here’s how it’s done.

bar x 5
75 x 3
105 x 3
135 x 3
165 x 3
195 x 3
225 x 3
255 x 3
285 x 3
300 x 3

Rocket science!
But that’s not how I ramp though!!!
I know austin said that jokingly but does any one else ramp up to their top set then continue the exercise at lighter loads?

the first high(er) rep stuff i ever did was BBB so this just seemed natural to me to ramp like
the following:

Warmups
barx15
95x8
135x6
185x4
225x2

Worksets
195x10
185x10
175x10

(dropping the weight assuming 10 reps each set was just shy of failure)
It was a joke and it wasn’t

Ramping for me might be

Bench

135 x 3
135 x 3
225 x 3
275 x 2
335 x 1

365 x 4

Through trial and error, this is also how I ramp. I found that I’m stronger in my top set if I keep my reps lower in my ramped sets, especially the last two ramp sets. After my top set, I will usually do one set with approx 60-70% of 1RM for as many reps as possible. I feel like that one drop set allows me to get in more volume and I feel satisfied and tired when I’m done

Damn, I wouldn’t feel anywhere near warmed up after ramping up like that. I feel like I’d injure myself with that few reps before my top sets. How do you do it, lol.

Truly amazing - someone who who uses his brain and “feel” to guide him towards progress.

If only MOST on here could do the same!

Todays exact benching was

135 x 3
135 x 3
225 x 3
275 x 2
315 x 1

385 x 2

I also do a few sets of rotator exercises and laterals befor hand. Idk I’ve never needed that extensive of a warm-up to feel ready to go, a lot of people are the oppiste, just need to do what feels right.

now you see how this shit can be confusing, not one person agrees with the other…

Not confusing at all, there is no universal way to ramp. It’s a basic format that can have many variations depending on what each lifter prefers.

It’s only confusing if you don’t have the brains to try and find what works for you.

I admit, I remember reading the ramping threads and being confused before I started trying it out myself. Then I actually decided to try it one day and actually started having fun in the gym. Beating the log book suddenly became a reality and soon became the focus of my training. It’s pretty sad, but I made more gains in 6 months than I had in the previous 4 years.

yeah i noticed when i ramp with high-to-low descending reps and increasing weight compared to 3 reps every set my numbers have been going up much quicker.
