You are the one who made the decision to tune into prime time tv and accept whatever was being peddled to you. Blacks can even tell you they have no clue what you are talking about, and you will still act as if my words are coming from someone else’s mouth.

For one you start by fucking listening. You stop trying to change the subject and discuss American Indians any time someone mentions racism against blacks in this country. You stop acting like someone is blaming you personally every time this topic is raised so that you and others stop acting so gawddamned defensive any time someone even suggests that blacks STILL experience racism to a degree that still needs to publicly change.

All of this has yet to even be accomplished in this thread, so there is no doubt that it can not be accomplished across the fucking country.

If you want to know what black people think, you stop listening to the talking heads on Fox news and actually have a discussion with a number of black people.

Why the fuck do any of you follow what Sharpton has to say to this degree? I couldn’t tell you even one issue the man has spoken out against in over a year at least, maybe more.

I think they should exactly what they are doing, educated black people stand up and say that no one should use that word. I haven’t said that black people are supposed to do any more than that. The only reason I said anything at all about black people using the word nigger is that, in response to my first post, some guy said “well no one should use it.” To me, that sounds like a spoiled white boy saying “it’s not fair, if I can’t use that word they can’t either.”

My position is, white people absolutely should not use that word, and black people probably shouldn’t either, but that is for them to work out. I’m a white man, a southern one at that, and I don’t feel it’s my job to tell black people as a whole what they should and shouldn’t say. Understand? Please tell me if there is something in this you object to.

You said the white race controlled the media, which implies that all white people are in on it. Does the black race controll BET? Do yall have meetings every month to decide which shows you’re going to put on and which ones get cancelled? Of course not. Sure, most media is owned and run by white people, but not the white race. See the difference?

Here is why I say you are getting up on a soap box:

1- You are trying to pick an argument with me. What have I said that you object to? It looks to me like we probably agree on everything, yet you want to debate with somebody and you latched on to me.

2- In the course of this conversation you keep expanding the subject to cover all of the injustices faced by blacks in this country: the media, police brutality, and throwing them at me as if they are something that I have denied or don’t understand. We weren’t talking about any of that. We were talking about language. If you can’t stay on subject and are going to try use random shit to bolster your position, I’m going to accuse you of getting on a soap box, because that’s what you’re doing.

Did I say Professor X is a nut job? No. Have that conversation with whoever said he was.

When you quote my words, I take it you are speaking directly to me, and when you speak directly to me, you need to stay on subject, talk to me about what I said, complain to me about things that I do, or may have some control over. I don’t own the media and I’m not a cop.

I don’t remember my original post objecting to anything. I remember specifically asking you to explain how black people are to work it out. Then rewording it in a second post to what YOU think Black people who don’t like the word should do. If i’m correct these are questions, not objections, and when questions are answered sometimes new ideas and methods are generated. You could have simply stated you don’t want to answer the question there would have been no picking of arguments.

I have no care about the injustices done in this particular conversation, simply used them to show how a person can never speak up, or in my case even ask a question.

Airtruth: Your question was, what are black people supposed to do about the N word, when the media, which is controlled by the white race, promotes the image of ignorant black people.

My answer was, I don’t control the media, so I can’t do anything about that. I don’t watch “And 1” and I don’t even know what that is, and I do not support the image of ignorant black people. Aside from that it’s not my place to tell black people what they should or shouldn’t do.

I’m pretty sure that the vast majority of people, white and black, are capable of thinking for themselves. Young people tend to imitate what they see on TV, and in Movies and Music, but they grow out of it. If you raise your children to not use that word, they probably won’t. That’s the only question I saw you ask and I already answered it a couple of posts back.

You repeated yourself and said I don’t get it, but I fail to see what I didn’t get.

I never said you or anyone else could never speak up. If we’re having a conversation and you start rambling and lecturing me about stuff I already know, I’m going to say you got up on your soap box. Maybe you didn’t mean to sound lecturing, but that’s the way your words came across.

Well, you do need to stay on topic if we’re going to have an intelligent conversation.

I am not defensive about a fucking thing. I have nothing to be defensive about.

I didn’t fucking ask what black people think. I asked what the fuck you think.

Pointing the fucking finger, and burying your damned head in the sand is pretty much a recipe for no progress. Like it or not - the Sharptons and the Jacksons are who get heard. I don’t think it is my job to conduct door to door interviews to find out what blacks really want. You sure as fuck don’t ask me what I want.

I didn’t try to discuss the fucking Indians. They are an example of a people similar to the blacks - only you weren’t fucking exterminated like a rodent. Your situation was compared to the Indians - nothing more.
