Race To 405 Squat

Sweet thread. As a fairly proficient squatter, 670 raw, just hit 750 geared in training, I’d be more than happy to help out with any advice. Feel free to shoot me questions on here or PM’ed.

Just a quick one, how many goats do I have to sacrifice and feast on to squat 670? I heard Dave Tate say in an article once that you cycled 3/5/8 for 3 weeks, then week 4 deload and clean your knives in waiting for Abezethibou.

I’m in for this one. Best PR is 365 x 3 a few months ago; and did a 365 single last week that was easy. Using 5/3/1 and only 5 lb progressions from cycle to cycle so it’ll be a few more months but I know I’m on my way there.

Went from 330-410 squat in less than four month. 450 here I come.

Great job BigRed.

I’m getting tantalisingly close…

Nice squat BigRed! I’m in on this thread! Want to get 8 plates to ATG

Hit 405 today in powerpants and knee-wraps. I’ll take it,

I took someone’s advice and started doing some partial squats and lockouts with 3x bw. These are a gem. Makes the heavy weight feel like light weight during full ROM.

Hit 140kg(308lb) x 5 on my last 5/3/X squat day. 140kg was my 1RM in January, so I’m looking on target for 405 by year’s end

This thread inspired me to join the forums i’ve been lurking for months

405 might not be that impressive for some of you…but it’s a milestone for me. A nice goal i’d love to reach.

I’m in at 370. Using 5/3/1 with 10 lbs added each month. Considering I will probably stall soon and will need a deload, i should be reaching the 400 lbs club this fall !

now shut up and squat !

I’m joining up. My best squat ever is 335, I can hit 325 on pretty much any squat day. I seem to have an easy time repping out heavy weights, but I’m not so great witht he heavy singles (even though I do plenty of them), which I think will be my limiting factor in getting my 405. Regardless, I have a long term goal of getting 405 by the end of next school year (first week in may)… but of course I’d love to hit it before then. We will see

In.

Should be hitting 405 at the end of my training cycle.

Haven’t free squatted in awhile, previous max of 360 ~5 months ago, then did 295x2x8 for my DE day. Looked fast as shit. Barely any stalling, and wasn’t too difficult either. Planning on free squatting more often, using the SSB, and seeing how it goes. I squatted 370 off a 12" box as well, which makes me think a 405 squat is right in front of me, which can only mean my deadlift is where I want it as well, 455+.

I like the 405 goal. Five ten 180 got back into training a year ago after a 13 year lay off. I sit as deep as I can go in the squat which is ass almost on floor and hold the bottom for a three count. My current max is 385 and looking for 405 in the future. Would like to compete in this RAW powerlifting stuff one day. Awesome squatting all you guys.

IN. My PR is 365x1, but I’ve hit 300x10 which puts me at 399 as an estimated max. Going for a new max tomorrow… hoping for at least 385

Finally managed the 315, so now into this thread at the very bottom!

I’ll give myself 12 months to hit 405. Westside method seems to be working for me.

On Starting Strength:

Moving to Smolov or Conjugate Method. Deload for a minute to let knees heal and deciding new program for next week.

Went from squatting 315 1RM on 7/10 to 315 3x5 today. Here I come 405…

Deadlift now at 320 3x5 also… starting from the bottom as well sexyxe.

Currently 75kg 172cm … 165 lbs 5’7"

in on this hit a 335 today

Well… I had 405 but it went back down to 355 after a couple of months with low bar. In part because my shoulder was keeping me from practicing with ideal form. I’ve also decided to switch from low bar to high bar so I stop destroying my shoulder. My bench has taken off since doing this and progress has been steady with high bar. I’m taking a simplistic program approach inspired by Doug Hepburn. Basically a heavy with the 8x2 add a rep to one set every week scheme and a speed/light day for the basic lifts.

Anyway, I guess the point is what form issues do you think are the most common for high bar squats and what do you suggest to rectify them? Also, what assistance exercises seem to work best for high bar as far as keeping the upper back rigid?
