at least Rakim’s still alive … and still working on that album (for the past 10 years)
It came out a few months back.
that’s what happens when you’ve given up on hip-hop …

How is it?
I never actually listened to the whole thing, just whatever songs leaked on the hip hop blogs beforehand [I’m not a big Rakim fan, just have 2 of his LP’s with Eric B.]. I don’t remember much, but I’m guessing they weren’t good since I don’t remember any songs. The reviews for the album were pretty bad, too.
that’s what happens when you spend 10 years trying to make an album … oh well, at least Ghostface still puts an album out every year that’s usually pretty good … I’m waiting for him to collaborate more with DOOM
Yeah, even his [Ghostface] most recent album where it was collabs with R&B guys was underrated. I ought to give DOOM a good listen. Heard some of his stuff but I’ve never gave him a good chance.

listen to Madvillain … (collabo with Madlib and DOOM) probably his most accessible album imo

Also King Geedorah and Vaudville Villain are good alias’s of his … i haven’t listen to any of his newer stuff past his collabo’s with ghost but he’s still a favorite of mine

EDIT: DangerDoom is probably his most accessible work (DOOM and Danger Mouse) … a lot of Adult Swim referrences

Thanks for the recommendations. I have 2 other Madlib albums that are decent, so that record should be good [and I hear it’s an underground classic anyway].

And I think I actually have DangerDoom on my computer already, lol. I’ll give it another listen.

I’m a fan of DangerDoom … Crosshairs is one of my favorite tracks and ATHF is a good one if you like clever ways to describe a cartoon show on Adult Swim

Also he did a collabo with Kweli on that album that’s good called “Old School”

Talib had a collabo with DOOM on his one of his mixtape albums (Right About Now is the name of it) that has another collabo with them called Fly That Knot which is pretty dope

Rza and MF Doom had a collabo on Biochemical Equations off of Wu Tang meets the Indie Culture which is damn good

De La Soul and MF Doom on The Grind Date’s track Rock Co. Kane Flow which is pretty dope too … i think DOOM did the production on that track

Look’s like I have a lot to check out, haha. Thank god I’m done my exams.

Regarding Adult Swim affiliated hip hop, there was mixtape with remixes of a bunch of songs, with the original songs done with new beats. Here’s a link:

BTW, the drunker I get, the harder it is to type posts with proper spelling, grammar and such. This post took like 3 minutes to type, kept making mistakes. I’m gonna stop hijacking this thread and sign out now. Later.

Yup, something’s fishy with that letter…

Guru rocked Premo beats like no other, damn…

I’m very cynical about that letter. On his deathbed, he does nothing but praise Solar? Not much love given for his own son… Yeah… I find it to be pretty suspect. But…in the grand scheme of things, this means very little to me.

I can believe the letter. There have been several interviews of Guru throwing subtle insults towards premier. Plus alot of people get drunk with their own depression, and feeling as though noone is there for them. Add that to some guy who will be around you constantly spitting in your ear how everyone is out to get you, while keeping true friends and family disconnected it’s easy to get confused. This is not something that only effects rappers, there are young women that chase dying wealthy men all the time.

No doubt, with that being said I still think Nas is Like is the best Premo track ever…

The Moment of Truth was the first rap CD I ever bought. I remember listening to this song…

…out in the garage in high school when I was doing dips, pullups, and jumping rope.

Another good one…

Wow… RIP.

my fave gangstarr joint…love that beat
