Hello all
I have a couple questions on carb cycling.
Would it be effective to cut out carbs completely on non workout days and then have carbs on workout days? CT’s carb cycling called for some carbs on non workout days. Would it be effective to just cut them out completely on non workout days?
On workout days I will have a post workout shake, a meal replacement shake and then mac and cheese or spaghetti for my carbs.
It would depend on your goals - bulk or cut - but either way I don’t think I would cut out carbs completely because you’d be changing the diet too much - follow it as closely as prescribed in my opinion.
You should also, again in my opinion, reconsider the quality of your carb sources. Mac&cheese is probably not the most ideal source - instead try more vegetables, sweet potatoes & oats. Proper food is a better source of nutrients than shakes so don’t depend on them for all you calorie intake.
I responded well to this diet when bulking and gained minimal amounts of fat on it.

I would have thought that going no carb for only one day was pretty much useless as your body will not become ketogenic (using fat as fuel instead of carbs) in that time. My understanding is that when carb cycling you are still using carbs as your primary energy source so depriving yourself to such a degree for only one day will just make you feel weak for that one day.
Also as “RSG” noted not all carbs are created equal (much like anything else) so maybe you should look at your food choices also.
