Questions About Fat Loss

Next week I am starting the MAG-10 Pulse Fast. For best results, should I do it 2x the first week with 3 days in between and then once a week thereafter? Does that kickstart fat loss even better?

Goal right now is to lose 10lbs BW while maintaining current strength levels or even getting stronger. Not concerned about size loss.

Twice a week at first is a good option to see how you react to it. Then adjust depending on how fast the weight is coming off and how well you feel during the fast.

The way I PERSONALLY eat is as follow and works great for me:

From waking up to 6-7pm: only MAG-10 pulses (probably 4-6 scoops)
Then from 7 to 10 I eat solid food.

I don’t really limit my food intake between 7 and 10, but I try to avoid ā€œobviousā€ bad choices like fast food and other junk.

This is how I eat everyday.

My strength is still going up and I’m getting leaner while maintaining my body weight between 225 and 230[/quote]

VERY intriguing…MIGHT try this in the near future-test and assess

CT, Is there any benefit to drastically lower Sodium and Potassium for a day or two to drop water weight for lets say a weekend pool party or beach? One would routinely be ingesting 5-6 L of liquid per day and 5-6g sodium and 5-6g potassium per day. Would lowering this to dry out a bit cause more harm than good?

Do you think someone working a manual labor job (a lot of walking mostly w/some light-heavy lifting of things) could pull off this type of approach? maybe from 7am-5or6pm 5scoops and then from 6-10 have solid food?

Then of course on workout days add in the workout fuel and anaconda to the mix, just curious as to your thoughts, i guess the best thing would be to just give it a go and see.

Probably not as it is. My partner Nick works a physical job and I have him on a similar approach BUT:

  • He has a small meal mid-day.
  • He adds 2 scoops of Workout Fuel to his pre-workout
  • His evening meal(s) is still large BUT not as large as mine

Are you really asking about how to peak for a pool party??? That is a bit lame IMHO. But to answer your question, there would be a visual effect only if you are very lean already (sub-10%). And I wouldn’t lower potassium, only sodium.

But I’ll tell you one thing. And this is from experience because, believe it or not, a lot of my clients actually asked me how to peak for such parties (beach, pool, rave, etc.)… IF YOU ARE LEAN ENOUGH FOR THE DRYING OUT PROCEDURE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE, THEN NOBODY WILL NOTICE IT.

What do I mean by that is that you need to be sub-10% for a drying out peak to make a visual difference. But if you are sub-10% chances are that you will look 10x better than everybody there anyway. And according to their standards you will be in amazing shape. And to them, being a little bit more dry wont make an iota of difference.

THE ONLY PERSON WHO WILL GIVE A DAMN IS YOU!!!

I’m not saying that it’s not worth it. If you feel better about yourself you will have a better time.

On the other hand, if you are worried about being as dry as possible then chances are that you will spend all day worrying about how good you look and will not really enjoy yourself. Plus, drying out often makes you feel miserable, not a state you want to be in at a party.

CT,

Thats awesome, lol. Thanks for the second review. Honestly I’m not that shallow, just wondered about sodium manip. Since I’m not a comp bodybuilder I wanted to place the question in an everyday setting. Pool party in November?..maybe in the tropics. Case closed. Have a great Holiday season.

Coach:

What do you feel is more advantageous?

  1. Full day of MAG-10 Pulse Fast - once a week

OR

  1. 4-6 pulses until a late afternoon WO and then normal eating after that 2x / week

Thanks,
M

P.S. Did my first full day pulse fast yesterday, then ate 4 meals today, hit gym, decent strength, nothing to write home about, but it’s just my first try. Gotta quit watching food commercials on evening TV, that was the hardest part yesterday - LOVE the Alpha GPC and Power Drive on an empty stomach, can really feel them that way. 3 lbs. scale weight loss in a.m. - will see what I have gained back tomorrow in a.m. and how rest of week feels.

CT, first of all, thanks for your time answering all these questions ! I“ve read the entire board and helped me alot

I“m wondering if my fat loss diet includes 1,25g of protein per pound of bodyweight, 80g grams of fat (including all types of fat, even in the meat)and 50g of carbs (200g of sweet potato) before workout and the training is heavy *ss weight with low reps (8 maximum) and I“m NOT seeing the scale going down, what would you try to change first ?
Weight is 171, 15% bf
This is the third week of the cutting, second week doing low carb. Should I wait more time to make any changes ?
Thanks in advance Thib

CT, I have been following your upper body performance/lower/lats,biceps/neural charge workouts split. I have made great progress and my shoulders have never felt better. I feel that for fatloss I can keep this split, maybe add some sled work or extra neural charge workouts. However it is my diet that always holds me back. I either eat to many carbs or eat to little of them and feel like crap.

What would be a good diet for optimal fatloss (2-3 lbs)per week? I only have 10-15 lbs of fat to lose. Maybe 2-3 is to fast but, since my goal is not to lose a lot of fat, I would like to do it as fast as possible. Hit it hard and be done.

Mr.Thib, I have read this thread and saw that you had exactly the same problem as me. Lower back fat, I have a really hard time getting rid of it. For example I can have my 4 pack abs really visible and low fat precentage but still the lower back fat is there. What do you suggest? since i figured you can help me out since i read that you had the same problem. The lower back fat seems to be the last spot to go and the first spot to come on.I’m 1.77meters and 69-70kg’s and 20 years old. Thanks in advance

Thibs just to make sure. is this the way you are currently eating every day? or just a modified pulse fast every once in a while? sounds interesting that you are making strength gains like this. Although i guess it really allows you to take advantage of the peri workout nutrition.

Thibs (or anyone for that matter who can help)

for those with hypothyroidism/low(er) Testosterone (my doc wont give me a prescription bc im 20),
do you have any general tips/recommendations for trying to lose fat?

thanks again

EDIT: my apologies if you dont answer these types of questions but ive been PMing all over the T Replacement Forum and no one can give me a straight answer. FWIW (if it makes any difference) here are some numbers…

CK, Total = 249 U/L (44-196) indicates highly catabolic state, i think
T4, Total = 6.4 UG/DL (4.5-12.5)
T4, Free = 0.74 mIU/L (0.5-4.3)
T3, Total = 52 ng/dl (76-181)
T3, Free = 2.1 pg/mL (2.3-4.2)
TSH = 0.74 mIU/L (0.5-4.3)
Test, Total = 392 ng/dL (250-1100)
Test, Free = 2.08% (1.5-2.2)

not to be rude, but look right above your post and it says clearly ā€œTHIS IS HOW I EAT EVERYDAYā€

Thibs,

Are you familiar with the ā€œwarrior diet?ā€ That’s essentially what you’re doing with your diet, it looks like. I’ve ran my own modifications of the warrior diet and I have to say for fat loss, its the best. I would have 1 scoop protein w/5-10 grams eaa’s and berry’s 2 or 3 times through the day, then eat a salad with olive oil, a lb of meat, tons of rice/beans, then eat again an hour or 2 later. I’m actually really considering going back on the diet except with MAG-10 as my protein through the day for my next fat loss phase.

Wow, I am an idiot. guess it’s just such an unorthodox diet it seems unbelievable. but obviously working for thibs.

CT, how are bodyweight step-ups for steady state? I ask because they involve a lot more eccentric than most forms of steady state, and I wanted to know if they would be more stressful or if it didn’t matter because they are so low-threshold. They are my only real option for steady state right now.

Christian,

What is your opinion on circuit training/HIIT/Tabata vs. steady cardio for fat loss?

Thanks.

CT sorry but i got another question,

im in college (aka i have no money) so a dozen eggs a day is pretty much a staple in my diet.

  1. how do you feel about whole eggs?

  2. would you consider them ā€œcleanā€ (for lack of a better word)?

  3. is there a number you would say is too many?

im roughly 5’11", 200-205 lbs and 15% BF.

thanks for any info you can give me.

I am in the same situation as this, in college and trying to eat a good diet on no money. So any comments on this would be much appreciated
