For clarification, this is from a secular view point. For religious reasons I would not want my son or daughter in porn.

So it’s the likelihood of success that you don’t like? Interesting. Would you be proud of your boy if he made it in the NFL?
Yes.
I’d also be proud of him no matter what he did as long as he works hard at it.
And… if your daughter made it as a porn star?
Then that’s fine.
I wouldn’t want my daughter making peanuts trying to be the next Jenna Haze any more than I would want my son playing semi-pro baseball trying to be the next Pete Rose.
Unless they’re happy, working hard, and providing for their respsective families. Then that’s fine too.
I would want my kids to:
1.) Be happy
2.) Work hard
3.) Take ownership of their responsibilities
4.) Do the above legally (so no drug dealing for example)
As long as the above 4 are met, then whatever they do is fine. I would want them to pursue careers using their mind because there is greater opportunity for success. As a kid I wanted nothing more than to be a pro baseball player. My parents supported this, but were also honest and upfront about my, “dream.” If I had pursued baseball they would have supported me 100% as I would my son. Ultimately I did not and most kids I believe would be the same.

Fair enough. I’d contended that happy and porn aren’t ultimately compatible, but that’s a matter of opinion/debate.
I have to say, some of you guys are surprising me with your opinions. Having a daughter (or son) start doing porn, would probably destroy me as a father. Maybe I’m just out of touch with the world.

I think your stance is a perfectly reasonable one.

I don’t think you are out of touch with the world. I don’t think your opinion would be different than the majorities opinion either.
I really don’t know how I’d feel, but I do know how I want to feel about it, because certain things are more important than others. And my daughter happy to come spend time with her old man is more important than most things, so I know I’ll have to be accepting of her choices, within reason.
And I will say, because we are talking about it, that having a daughter has certainly changed my perspective on things like porn, “sex sells”, and just random tits showing up in movies for no real reason other than T&A.

I don’t think very many women in porn get very much enjoyment or satisfaction out of it at all. I think if they did, then the average career of a porn actress wouldn’t be less than 3 years. I think porn actresses are essentially more involved strippers or hookers on film. And while their are some participants in those groups that might enjoy what they do, most I would say consider what they do as simply a means to get earn money.

Ya, I mean that’s a tough one. I certainly don’t “enjoy” sitting at my desk all day working through excel spreadsheets either…
Yeah, I don’t think anyone actually enjoys doing work, however, I have already explained my stance earlier in a lot more depth than I am willing to type ha. To sum, its because of my Christian beleifs and I really have no other justification other than porn in excess on young minds leading to a host of issues.

I’ve being trying to keep my comments as secualr as possible. From a religious stand point I would be against a career in porn.
So I would be 100% against my kids being in porn for the record.

In Truth though, I think they are the same thing. The goals are the same. I think people separate them because they misunderstand the purpose of religion.

Yeah I understand the trying to separate the two. I just found it almost impossible in this situation. To me its wrong because it violates what I believe to be moral and what I believe to be moral is mostly determined by my religion. While I understand that others don’t believe the same as me and their moral lines are different, that doesn’t mean that I still don’t believe that morality is flexible. I simply believe that other peoples morals are skewed because I believe in a singular moral code sent by one God that created us all, believers and non-believers alike.

This is one of those questions that can be almost pointless to ask because we all have different religious views, standards of morality, etc.
From a Christian standpoint, Im of course against anything to do with porn. I dont feel that it glorifies God in any way. From a secular standpoint, Id still be qutie uneasy with it. It is one of the few jobs/career choices that I would be disappointed in my son if he chose it. In my measure of a true man, getting paid to put your dick in any hole you can find, doesnt cut it.
Again, we all have different standards. PX wont be changing DDs mind and vice versa(which I know isnt the purpose of the thread).
thehebrewhero wrote:
On a side note X why do all the black dudes in porn always leave their socks on?
Ashy feet.
Wearing socks all day dries your feet. White guys don’t know this because they are permanently ashy…to the core.
This is why we look 30 when we are 50 also…but I guess your feet would look 60 if you don’t use lotion.
Moral of this story…USE LOTION…all the time…in every scenario…especially with the subject of this thread.
DoubleDuce & jbpick86
I complete respect that stance. Maybe it’s just how my brain works, I don’t know. I also have a different perspective on religion than many do, I don’t want to start a crazy derailment so I’ll just leave it at that.

Then you need to get out more. On “the set” they are treated like “actors and actresses”…with fluffers.
How much experience do you have in this area to speak on it like you seem to be?

I also believe good wholesome religious morality is the best way to “secular” happiness too. Which is why I don’t really see the 2 as different. Religion is inherently meant to adjust and perfect all of you, including the secular parts. And any morality is inherently religious in nature.
You believe what you do, not what hold in your head as ideal.
Do you believe Christianity stands in opposition to physical happiness?

If getting treated like “an actor” is what you thought I meant by wanting to be treated as what they really are, then we have no common ground on which to even continue discussions.
