Quest for Amazon Legs

I just got signed for my first photography gig - its for a fundraiser so no pay but the visibility will be awesomesauce.

I lol’d.
I love that feeling. A bit cocky (but not too much…we’re Canadian after all) and that feeling of confidence (maybe a smidge of superiority) since you know that nobody is going to get it done like you that day.

'Grats on the PR!

nice work
congrats on the pressing pr.

trust you to photo semi clad plumbers.
nice work.

you didnt say what music was blasting in your drive!!!

I saw your bench number on FB and it blew my mind. You’re so strong!

You are having a helluva PR week, woman!

Glad to see the bench moving. Sounds like a great day all around and congras on the photography gig.

OMG! Sexy plumbers! That’s fucking awesome! You lucky, lucky girl you. How much fun will that be?

Excellent work on the squats! Seriously, your mental fortitude is ridic.

And nice work on the bench! Fuck yeah for a long time PR! Well, hello lover…

Loving life is wonderful! Glad things are on an upswing. Keep up the momentum, my Canadian queen!

It is so rewarding to share these little (big!) victories with people who understand the battle

speaking of battles Oh my jezus. Facebook buddy posts a note and tags me and 2 other buddies to help her. “I’m transitioning from traditional thin & lean to the way more awesome muscular & strong.”

Can I get an AMEN!

so I set her up with basic food program, add cals after workout, 5x5 program ect…(you guys know this shit)

and then her “other” buddy quips up: yeah her advice isn’t bad if you want to lift like a bodybuilder 5-6 times a week with crazy intensity (lolwhat?!). Plus lifting heavy isn’t functional FAAAACK!

I was tagged in a crossfit convention.

I replied my “unfunctional” strength allows me to carry my own groceries, play with my 2 year old niece, build a deck and swim strongly when I dive. I work full time, take care of my house, take diving lessons and have a photography passtime. I don’t live in the gym.

I did not want this to become a crossfit vs lifter kinda stupid argument so I simply ended with whatever will get your butt in the gym for 5 hours a week will be a win. find what gets those endorphines flowing and stick with that. any workout is better than none.

functional is such a bullshit word. my bench isn’t functional: want to step up to me and say that to my face and gamble whether the strength in my chest has possible worked its way to my shoulders, biceps, triceps forarms and fist bitch?

ok end rant.

Lol at the frenchie rant!

Awesome bench PR lady!

since the “Heavy” show I’ve been listening to Godsmack’s Oracle. I’m partial to “sinner’s and saints” and “love hate sex pain”

good music when you’ve got to do a hundred or so kms with beautiful weather and the windows down.

fear me and my busted car

lolz

What did he suggest in lieu of your training?

[quote]Dasher wrote:

She suggested:

All of this depends, ultimately, on why you want to train… [these] suggestions will certainly help you put on muscle (if you commit to doing only bodybuilding 5 to 6 days per week, at a high intensity;if not, the extra calories might …end up on your tummy and thighs). If you are training for aesthetics, this is good, but it will do very little for your tabatas and endurance. You heart, in my opinion, is your most important muscle, and that’s what you felt was weak when doing the high intensity workout. If you train for fitness, your heart and lungs get strong, can pump much more oxygen/ blood to your muscles, which in turn helps them build endurance, which means you can train harder and longer and become stronger. So the answer to your question depends very much on why you train. This is my two cents.

Not a bad reply if endurance is your goal. However the initial question was:
“I need some suggestions for power foods–for energy & muscle building”

Nice bench PR. I’m very jealous. The day I can get 135 for a single I’ll be pretty stoked.

On the subject of functional: Who gives a shit if something is functional? Why does this always rear its’ head in weight training/strength sports? When did anyone ever ask a volley ball player if a spike is functional or a baseball player if a curve ball is functional? What about skiing? Is hitting powder through moguls functional? It’s beautiful for its’ own sake. It isn’t a means to an end, it’s an end on its’ own.

the project just esploded… we are possibly looking at 2 calendars. one with male models… one with female models.

holy shit I might have to go back on the estrogen just to keep my head straight! fuck’n lol.

where were all these hot people when I was single??

That’s a tough situation. Whatever gets her into the gym is fine, but that motivation will last only so long. I never stuck with any “strength training” program before 5-3-1 because I never saw any measurable progress. I wasn’t doing it right. When I started 5-3-1, I thought no fucking way can this work. It didn’t seem like enought work. I’m very happy to be wrong.

Good luck to your friend!

Great job on the bench, nice PR!

HAH! This could be EPIC! I hope you’ll be able to share some of the pics with us!

Hm…interesting on your friend’s training. I suppose in the end she’s just going to have to try and see which sort of program she takes to. But telling someone that “the most important muscle is the heart” when they’re clearly interested in putting on muscles elsewhere seems kinda bogus.

I was a little nervous for my shoot yesterday; didn’t know the model, the location was his home… I figured lets just role with it.

went super well for the following reason:

  • Turned out he has a beautiful condo with a renovated bathroom
  • he has modeled for other projects before and it shows
  • He’s a cutie with a little muscle definition
  • He’s traveled in 50 countries. (good conversation topic to get the mood flowing)
  • He greeted me with a wonderful little sangria
  • He is totally gay

Shoot took an hour. Bathroom was on the smaller side so I couldn’t use my jewel 50mm. Reverted to my wide lens. Picture not as crisp and quality but the frame is right.

took 98 pics and kept 10.

we finished the evening on his roof top terrace chatting. very cool.

Sent the pics to the project manager late last night after working on a few touchups and the response was positive.

I have a couple more evening shoots lined up for next week.

Here are 2 of my favs of plumber Mike shoot.
