yep, in every single profession there are good people and bad people. there are horrible strippers, doctors, mechanics, dentists, teachers, coaches, animal trainers and there are amazing strippers, doctors, mechanics, dentists, teachers, coaches, animal trainers, its just how it works. Just because you are in a job or profession doesnt mean you are amazing, decent or even qualified for that profession. There are retards in everything, PT is no different.

Tiger time: This connor kid simply posted a short routine for someone who would be unable to make it to the gym. Not directing his routine to strength or mass building but just getting some movements done in a type of bootcamp fashion. Austin doesnt have an arguement and pulls a dick move, and decides to pubically post that the other kid has no idea what he is talking about. Neither does austin but he says “I know a ton of information about strength and condition.” and refers to personal training as “this game.” Really?!? come on broski, you are like 110lbs and thats when youre holding your cat. The other kid wasnt posting a hypertrophy routine, he posted a ‘get off your ass and move’ short “workout” you can do in your home, like if youre a soccer mom. This kid tries to internet slam the other guy but does so in a very silly, immature way.

ALso, austin, “most of muscle building and fat loss has to do with how you eat or the calories you burn throughout the day” isnt exactly spot on advice itself amigo. Keep reading.
^ fair enough, but when I read this it looks like PT guy “uped” the smugness more than austin.

toasting in epic bread

Holy. Fuck. OP, no offense, but from the actions you took and the way you structure sentences together, you’re either 11 years old or one of those kids from my English class who couldn’t spell TREE if someone spotted him three letters.

This is ridiculous, but to be fair, the OP is just suffering from a severe case of “ImTheShit-itis”. Just because you read everything you can(like me and others here) about the subject doesn’t mean you can go around policing the interwebz and putting people down. He’s a PT. You’re not. Maybe he does know more than you.

As others have pointed out, his initial post wasn’t all that bad. It’s bad programming, but the basic idea isn’t bad. The way you reacted meanwhile was dick-ish. Is your name Richard?(points for who gets this pun).

Point is, and I can’t believe I took time to fucking type this, is that, as tempting as it is to unleash on 83lb personal trainer douchebags, it’s a lose-lose situation. The best way to handle shit like this is to state your case without pulling a Richard. These trainers are almost as bad as religious people and atheists. You can present your case, but it’s up to them to convert or not.

Ok, we get it you could put on 83lbs in 8 months…now why does this fucking matter if you’re looking at MAYBE 8lbs of muscle at the MOST…I can make you lose 83 lbs in less than an hour…but you’ll be missing some limbs? Why in the fuck would ANYONE want to put on 83lbs in 8 months… The ONLY scenario I see this being acceptable is post competition rebound on a pro level…and even then thats a lot. I personally know an ifbb pro. And he’ll change 60-70lbs in that process… This has gotten so ridiculous and pedantic…Why try and find a point to prove…Fitness doesn’t have hypotheticals mate.
Haha, don’t get frustrated, I was only playing along. You’re right, it is pedantic. That’s what the point of my first sentence in my last post was for. My dad was good friends with Mike Mentzer, too, for whatever that’s worth (since I never met him and my dad wasn’t interested in BBing, so he never talked to him about that stuff, in my case, it’s worthless, but since you threw an association out there, I thought I would, too).

And if you’re just starting out, it’s a lot easier to put on muscle weight. You seem to be coming from the angle of someone who has some significant training age, in which case, putting on more muscle isn’t so easy and simple any more. But it’s not unheard of to throw on significant muscle weight when you’re first getting heavy into the weight room. Especially if you’re eating a shit-load of protein.

I think it’s awesome that you know an IFBB pro personally, not everyone has that luxury. You should try to get him on this site, the more in-the-know people here the better, I say (not that there isn’t enough).

Ultimately, even though I can see it being possible, I still feel like the 83 pounds in 8 months thing is a big fat lie just to try to get more clients.

Hey to everyone: Thanks for stereotyping us Personal Trainers!

Some of us are good and some of us are not so good.

A majority are bad. It’s a sales based job and there are a lot of people that think because they’ve earned a certificate they’re an expert on the subject. I’ve worked as one at three different gyms and trust me, the truly knowledgeable are few and far between.
Yeah i am a trainer also, and I have to agree that most trainers in Corporate gym are not all that. Hiring a trainer can be expensive especially when he or she works for the club and gets paid a salary. In one club I work independently and could charge whatever I wanted. In return I had to give the club a days work, which was pretty good. I charged people on a sliding scale fee. One guy who was around 42 was interested in passing a test to become a prison guard, a test he failed 3 times in the past. He had to do 30 full situp in 1 minute and run 2 miles 15 minutes there were some other things he had to do. We had 3 months to prepare. I charged him 40 bucks an hour which is the highest amount i ever charged a person. I’d train him for an hour but most of the time it went over that and no charge. He was fun to work with cause he wanted to pass that test and get a job as a guard. I felt responsible for his passing and made sure he that he would, but I didn’t know that. I worked with him on his speed for running and doing a ton of ab work. I noticed that he was holding his breath and that one the major reason why he would always poop out… so we fixed that and the day of the test he called me up. I said, So Steve did you do the 30 sit ups? he said , " no I did 34"! lol That was rewarding.

I took on a young woman from Ecuador, and started by charging her $17 bucks then 15 then 10 and then pay when you can! She was really special desired to get fit and strong.

anyway as a trainer i never think I know it all and know that i continual to learn from having a variety of people. I always try to motivate them and make sure they are moving correctly. I don’t just push them to push them and tell them that they will be on their own soon so they need to keep learning themselves.

Training others is a form of teaching and I find the rewarding its a form of help, but I know that I am being helped too as a teacher, its a two way street.

one last thing being a trainer involve one in a relationship with the other and your not just a trainer but someone who earns their trust since they do talk about other things.

Lol, actually, I’m 18 and i’m actually quite good with english. However when i’m on the internet I do not give a fuck how I type. I usually just type as my thoughts pour; i’m sorry that’s not correct for you. I don’t think i’m the shit, as i’ve stated in previous posts this is actually the only time i’ve ever publicly ridiculed anyone for saying stupid stuff on the internet. He doesn’t actually know what he’s talking about and is a personal trainer because he sells herbalife… (so no he doesn’t know more than me). I honestly feel as though my first message to him wasn’t rude at all. Various times I said my intentions weren’t to insult him. Also, this thread’s intention was to reflect on the quality of personal trainers in todays age, not to reflect on my grammar in a post…
