At the moment I pin the delts. But I have quite a bit of scar tissue building up on the medial delts making it harder to pin in that location. I am trying the more anterior portion of the delts but I think I need to switch up locations.
Everytime I pin the quads it always feels like I am going through nerves and my quad ends of twitching. Not great with a needle in you.
Pin your lats. Put your back against a wall, lift one arm, and find a spot that’s about a half inch in from the edge of the widest part of you lat. Thank me later.
I get a twitch to when pinning quads, in my left leg but not my right, weird isnt it? And it never used to happen, till one day I had an uncomfortable shot and got a blood seep. Now, I think it’s in my head more so than anything, because sometimes it would go flawless and some times I’d have to pull out, swap a new pin on and do another site.
When I was pinning IM everyday (next blast I will be again soon) I would do:
Glutes 1.5" 23ga
Quads 1" 23ga
Delts 1" 23ga
Pecs 1" 23ga or 25ga
If I pinned anything additional I’d use a 29ga 1/2" slin pin, into the delts.
I’ve had twitches in all of my injection sites (at this point, at least onces, I’ve pinned each lat, each delt, right anterior delt, both medial glutes, left quad, both triceps) with various needles, and it’s never been a good indication of problems or pain. Some of my smoothest injections have left me with the worth PIP. Some of my “twitchiest” have left me fine the next day. Needle size isn’t always reliable either. For example, I’ve had less PIP in delts using 1inch 25g needles than .5in 29g slins. If youre a sensitive person, or a particular site is sensitive, I think smooth injections will be hit or miss no matter what you use and where you use it on the site. It’s just a downside of being sensitive.
