Any of you ladies try ammonia caps? I remember owlie having a party with one, but anyone else?
ALSO: Forever 21.com is having a knee sock sale. OVER the knee socks too!
I’ve got some. They knock you out of your chair. I’ve never tried one with lifting. I’ll ammonia you sometime.
I think this needs to be done!! I want to try one on a sticker dl record…fucker won’t go up!!
OMG yes Brute!! And it must be documented!!
Edit: Waitaminute…before I go co-signing something I know nothing about (bad Maschy) - are there any negative effects of using ammonia? Like what happens after you get an ammonia hit and then you have to lift again without it?!

Yes. video of that please.
However, at first I thought PMPM meant over the knee socks knock you out of your chair.
IPF won’t let you wear over the knee socks. They look too much like stockings and result in boners in deadlift suits. It’s a risk I guess. I don’t make the rules.

It kills brain cells. You’re essentially huffing chemicals. That being said, I’ve done it before. But only a few times on max pulls.
And you can’t have tape on your hands on the platform.

This is where I get to sound like a smarty pants ref. IPF allows the use of tape: Non supportive wraps:
Wraps made of medical crepe or bandage and sweatbands do not require Technical Committee
approval.
Two layers of medical tape may be worn around the thumbs. Medical tape or its like may not be
worn anywhere else on the body without official permission of the Jury, or Chief Referee. Medical
tape may not be used as aids to the lifter in holding the bar.
It’s in the section under personal equipment: wraps
Now I feel like all the hours of studying for the referee test were worth it
I was appoached last weekend about taking my referees test for USAPL. Said I’d think about it. Do you ref much, O?
I’ve only done 2 meets so far. At the last one, the tape issue came up when one lifter had wrapped the hell out of him thumbs.
Actually, for most of the meet BB and I reffed opposite each other blowing kisses across the platform. Not really, but it was fun to do it together and it was the same venue as Worlds.

For the SPF : Plasters
a)Two layers of plasters, band aids , or tape may be worn on the thumbs, but no where else on the body without official permission of the referees or appointed SPF/WBPLA Meet Officials
b)No plasters, band aids, or tape may be utilized as a strap to help the lifters hold the bar.
c)With the permission and supervision of the referees, the appointed SPF Meet Officials, the official meet doctor, or other assigned medical personnel, the lifter may apply spot plasters, bandages, tape or band aids to muscle injuries on the body.
d)Strip plasters, tape, or band aids may be applied to injuries on the inside of the hand, but in no circumstances must these applications extend across the entire back of the hand without due medical cause and permission from Meet Officials.

I want to use hook grip out of fear of tearing a bicep when pulling with mixed grip…
And I am going to see how sumo works out for me. For a while, I was die hard conventional and would consider sumo cheating. However, as I continue to see my progress in the deadlift, I think sumo might help in keeping my back straight and hips strong. I have very long femurs and a long torso and I’m starting to think if I don’t switch up my form, I’m going to hurt my back one of these days.
When I first started playing with Sumo, Frenchie’s log and Dixie’s log were really helpful to me, you may want to read through their cues and stuff. (I don’t mean to exclude anyone else that pulls sumo, they’re just the 2 logs I ended up reading)
Hmm Dani, I have a similar problem - long back, long femurs but short arms and shins. I can’t seem to pull conventional without curling up like a hedgehog.

That’s a perfect visual for how I feel lol

i may have missed it, but you wont tear a bicep with mixed grip pull unless you try to curl the bar.
take the slack out of the bar first, you’ll have no problem.

Alright, I guess I’m just overthinking/overworrying about it. Thanks ladies for all the feedback!
Squats and deadlifts. Actually I never had a problem putting muscle on back there (it’s getting the fat off that I have trouble with). KB swings are also fantastic for recruiting the bootay.
