Protein Side Effects

English is my second language so I’m sorry if my grammar wasn?t good enough.

I’ve been doing weight lifting for about 2 years I’m not that sad about my results although my chest is small comparing to my shoulders: P and I have big legs.

I have been using whey protein for 2 years now I just stopped once or twice for 10 days and I heard that I should stop between each month. I have noticed a lot of new shit since the last year like a bad gas ( a lot of it ) and if I just had a protein or a milk with a banana for breakfast because of I was very busy, I get a very bad stomach pain after 2 hours err that will last 4 about 1 to two hours. My mom always complaining that this gas or this stomach pain that you?re getting is from this stupid protein that u takes.

Should I stop taking it for month and is true that I should take the whey protein 1 month then stop the other month?

I just got my animal peck amino acid and I’m really worried about if it?s safe to use it or something since its 10 tablets every day. The name of it made my dad crazy since it’s animal peck thinking that it’s sort of steroids or something.

Whey is just food. Nothing more, so you don’t have to take breaks from it. It would be like taking a break from breakfast because you had one everyday for a month!!

Also, when it comes to supplements and family and friends freaking out, I like to take the time to explain what it is I’m actually taking.

Telling people that your Animal Pak is naturally occuring vitamins and minerals and creatine is something that is in your steaks seems to put people at ease. My wife used to freak out but explaining what I was taking and why increased her interest in the whole thing - and it even inspired my mother to start taking fish oil tablets!!

shit, you mean I’m not supposed to cycle breakfast? Oh well, I was kinda confused as to what kind of PCT to use for sausage and eggs anyway.

to the OP, you might want to try switching brands of protein if you’re getting gas and stomach aches. Could be some ingredient they put in the protein or even the quality of the protein itself. I’ve had great luck with the Biotest stuff (obviously), but also Optimum Nutrition, and American Whey if you can’t get Biotest in your area.

Cheers,
Jay

I was just trying to be as simplistic as possible for both a beginner and someone who doesn’t speak english that well…

…didn’t see the point of explaining the 3 weeks on 1 week off lunch protocol and the afore mentioned sausage PCT ; )

The stomach pain you are getting is a lack of the proper digestive enzymes. Yogert can help with this. If you have it avaialbe I would switch to a better blend of protein like Metabolic Drive, Labrada Lean body, or Metrx. Strait up whey makes me fart like a machine; these others do not. Look for a good blend of Caisein and Whey mixed. I think you’ll have better results.

The gas may be a side effect of the artificial sweetener used in your brand of protein powder. Try another brand and see what happens.

Just read an article in the news paper this morning. It read that individuals who have high protein intakes are at risk for cardiovascular problems down the road that can only be detected by blood test and by no other means. Complete bullshit?

To be completely fair they didn’t even say how much protein was “high” and I’m willing to bet that the study is based on a few random cases that are completely outside the norm.

Also I can’t think of any athlete or fitness enthusiast who isn’t taking in a larger than average amount of protein to aid in their performance on the field or just in daily life and I also don’t see many high level athletes dropping dead from heart attacks. Obese people who take in very little protein and massive amount of simple carbohydrates are dropping dead faster than ever though.

Just wanted to share what I read.

Eating too much protein has been proven to give you kidney failure, cancer and heart disease. Protein is the new nicotine…and that’s a fact.

Don’t rely on the media for anything. I find it hard to believe that people still read the paper for real information.

optimum whey protein, chockalott flavor that I’m using since more than 1 year now since it’s the n1 in usa :stuck_out_tongue: as they say but man it makes u fart a lot and maybe because of the high protein diet that I’m doing??? .I don’t get it why I get this stomach pain a lot.

Should I start taking the animal pak, does it have any side effects or something? I’m sort of scared from it and that I need to take 10 tablets every day err, why they call it animal pak any way.

I train almost twice a day, workout and mma. Im19

and I can get any food that I want here (fish, meat, chicken) even in the same day. Sometimes I eat chicken, shrimp, meat and eggs in the same day.

Amen.

Yeah, I think more reliable nutritional information can be found scrawled on the wall of the average public restroom than you’re going to get from the mainstream media.

Kidney issues maybe. But what proof can you provide that high protein has an effect on cancer and heart disease?

Studies that follow higher intakes of protein are usually blind to the fact that the higher protein comes in the form of bacon, not protein powders and healthy lean meat.
