Protein Powder W/ Oatmeal

Here is a recipe from Berardi’s PN. I use it for post-workout but I’m sure it would be great for mornings too and it doesn’t involve protein powder. Give it a try . . . it tastes great! Just microwave for 1 min, stir, and 1 more min in microwave.

1 cup rolled oats
1 cup carb countdown, chocolate 2%
2 tsp natural peanut butter

500 cal: 30g protein, 60g carbs, and healthy dose of fats

I was using Worldwide too for a while and it was incredibly cheap $11 for 5 lbs. and tasted amazing. Met-rx the original tastes good in oats as does Muscle Milk and Eas Simply Protein. Definately mix in after the oats are cooked and nuke the oats in milk. It makes them more creamy but watch the boilover.

I have never tried Metabolic Drive…but I use Isopure and mix it with oatmeal regularly and it is absolutely delicious.

2 scoops Isopure
3/4 c oats
2 packets splenda

HMM… Isopure. Thats a thought. It usually looks pretty expensive, though. Thank you for the idea, maybe I’ll try it!

This is really what I’m looking for… I just wanted some fellow lovers of protein powder’s advice on what you like best!

Why doesnt everyone just use the Classic Grow! instead of Metabolic Drive? its less exspensive and still has the protien?

Exactly, it’s excellent for oatmeal. Both of them are.

I always mix a scoop of Grow! with just enough water milk or yogurt to make ‘cream’ out of it. When my oats are done it’s much easier to mix it in that way. then add fruit of choice and you’re set.
Just don’t use chocolate w/ oatmeal.

Generally for mixing with meals vanilla is the most versatile and chocolate is great for shakes. The banana and strawberry flavors are something you get over after a few tries.

Even adding afterwards, it just seems like the protein powder I use (ON) tastes bad hot. Even mixing it with hot water makes a difference, as I’ve accidently found out before.

More calories and carbs. I guess it would depend on your goals.

You don’t HAVE to cook the oatmeal… and the texture is obviously a lot different if you don’t.

But you cook your oatmeal in the mornings, don’t you?

Man, NEVER use ON in oatmeal. Most protein powders will taste like kak unless you blend them with milk and a banana. Grow! and Metabolic Drive are very different in this regard and are of much higher quality. Few protein powders can compete, and for that price - none.

With the protein powder- oatmeal mixture, first I make the oatmeal more watery. Then after cooking, add the protein powder. Adding a TBS of peanut butter after the pp gives it a kind of pudding-like, silkier texture and a richer flavor and texture.

A few drops of vanilla extract, almond extract, or both also really make the mixture quite tasty.

Okay, that did it!

Will come over and make my Oatmeal each morning?

That sounds soooooo good.

Yeah, I always add berries and a little bit of splenda to my oats as well. I guess I can try Metabolic Drive again. I really just did not like the taste of it when I tried it in the Oatmeal a few months back.

Try honey instead of splenda. It has natural antioxidants.
or agave nectar

Hello everyone!

I am a HUGE consumer of Biotest products – I usually have at least 3 jugs of Metabolic Drive, as well as Surge and HOT-ROX in my house, however… I usually use something other than Metabolic Drive powder to mix in my morning oatmeal. I don’t know if any of you have tried it, but, unfortunately, Metablic Drive just tastes… funny in oatmeal.

I have been using Extreme Whey by World Wide Protein in my oatmeal for about 6 months. But my local store looks like its discontinuing it, so I’m kinda shopping around for other alternatives. Extreme Whey blended really well in my oatmeal and though I despise the taste of it in a shake, it was wonderful in Oatmeal.

So, after all that expository info to prevent any possible Biotest backlash ;)… I ask ya’ll… what protein do you use (if any) to mix with oats?

Thanks in advance!

SUMMARY: Metabolic Drive tastes like stir-fried buttholes in my oatmeal, and the kind of protein I use in my oatmeal is being discontinued. Any suggestions?

WHAT WE HAVE SO FAR: Honey, Agave Nectar, Coconut, drink separately, or put the oatmeal in the blender and drink instead. With protein powders, the suggestions are Banana Metabolic Drive, Isopure, Muscle Milk, and EAS.

NorskGoddess was asking for new kinds of protein powder that blend well. I used the Extreme Whey in the oatmeal too, and it was delicious. It is being discontinued, so I am looking for a powder that doesn’t take away from the taste of the oatmeal and berries, not “other obscure things I put in my oatmeal.”

This was, and still is, part of my morning ritual (a la Berardi), and it would be nice to continue.

So, any suggestions (OF PROTEIN POWDERS)???

BTW, non Biotest products ARE still OK to use. You don’t need to be afraid in mentioning them.

Optimum Nutritin Whey works great for me in oats. I put the oats and protein powder in a bowl and then slowly ad hot water to them. If I add the water too fast, the powder doesn’t dissolve properly. Some people have mentioned that they don’t like the ON Whey but it works great for me and I’d recommend it.

I mix my oats and Metabolic Drive(dry) in a bowl. Then I add hot water and let it cook for about a minute. Vanilla is awesome in Metabolic Drive, Chocolate is good too. Tastes like Chocolate Malt o meal. I tried Strawberry also.

You don’t like Isopure…??? That shit is the best tasting protein I’ve ever had

Just eat your oatmeal and then drink your shake. No reason to mix it unless you really want to.
With you on this one. Mixing my protein into my oatmeal makes it thick, unpleasant to eat and difficult to finish if I’m having a large portion. Much easier to eat the oats (raw, in milk) and then just chug a shake.

Most vanilla powders taste really good in oatmeal. One important thing I learned is to add it after cooking AND let it cool down for a few minutes. I always add a little bit of cold water too to mix it better. Matrix 5.0 vanilla taste is good also.
