Protein Liver Enzymes, Please Help

So guys I have a bit of a dilemma here and I would really appreciate some opinions

About 6 months ago I started this drug called accutane. Anyways, it requires you to get blood drawn every 4 weeks. No big deal, I didn’t mind. That was until I got results back telling me my liver enzymes were elevated.

The doc directly placed the blame on my protein supplements so I did a little experiment and went off of them for a while. Next set of blood results- perfectly fine. So there it is, my protein was causing my liver enzymes to raise.

Well life without protein supplements sucked for me. I’m only 17 years old so I don’t really have complete control over what I eat yet. A protein shake would be a perfect addition to my diet simply because of conveinence. I have also been seeing very little progress in the gym which I relate to this.

So fast forward to present day. I just went for my final blood test last week. Liver enzymes are high. This would have shocked me but I was an idiot and snuck a little powder into my oatmeal about a week before that test.

So of course I link the two again. I kinda lied to my doc and said I haven’t been supplementing so I go back for another test this week. It should be fine because I haven’t had any supps since that last bowl of oatmeal.

My dilemma is that I really would like to start supplementing again after these blood tests are over. I feel that protien supplements are of great assistance to my goals (last year my bench press increased 50 lbs in 5 months while taking whey, without it it hasn’t raised a single pound)

I just don’t want to get fucked later on down the road and need some emergency liver transplant. I just don’t see it as being extremely dangerous due to the fact that mostly everyone involved in this lifestyle uses whey. My physical appearance is very important to me but I don’t know if its worth the risk.

How badly do you need to take accutane?

I am well aware of the drugs pitfalls and benefits having took it for 3 years in my high school and college years

Accutane for acne? Get off that crap and take Proactive. Too many side effects with that accutane.Get you’re diet cleaned up. Plenty of info on this web site search it up.

Keep away from the simple sugars and drink lots of water.I don’t know how bad you’re acne is but diet is everything.
Hormones at that age are crazy too causing the problem also, try too limit stress. Lifting helps alot with this.

In many cases, one of the main causes of acne is hormonal balances and EXCESSIVE inflammation. Here’s my advice to you : Ramp up the Flameout BIGTIME and ditch any and all sugars (occasional fruits and all the green veggies you want) and up the omega 3’s considerably.

Also consider the use of a high quality milk thistle supplement to address your liver issues (IMO Maximum Milk Thistle is the #1 product on the market as their are studies proving its superior bioavailability).

Let me chime in here.

I am nearing month 4 of 80mg a day. I originally went in to the Dr asked for a hormone test to try and figure out if something was wrong (I still feel this is the case). Dr treated me like an idiot and only offered Accutane. The reason being it will clear you up no matter what the cause.

I had tried anything. If its persistent, OTC products aren’t going to help. Antibiotics are only temporary and won’t work 100%. Basically your hormones are causing sebaceous glands to produce too much sebum, leading to clogged pores, and acne.

Diet may be to blame, but I cut all milk. I mega dosed fish oil. I only had sugars (gatorade) PWO. All helped, but was not enough.

I have never had any problems with my blood tests. I drink at least 2 shakes a day (2 scoops with breakfast) and then one leaving the gym on training days. I also suppleent with ALA, Zinc, Vit C and E. I have also ‘binge drank’ on several occasions (which I am not condoning).

If you have any other questions let me know.

Seriously, Accutane is bad news. Investing in a high quality milk-thistle supplement would do wonders for keeping your liver health and in-check.

Maybe I left this out guys but I’m now done with accutane. My face is perfectly clear now, no more problems. It’s just that I don’t know if now that I dont have to go for blood work every 4 weeks should I start back up on the shakes or should I be more worried about my liver.

Take a high quality liver protectant (Maximum Milk Thistle or Liv52 are two good examples) and you should be set as far as protecting your liver health.

Might want too take some probiotics for healthy bowel flora.Counteracts the negative effects of Antibiotics.
