Protein Bars - Yes or No

Pulsin bars from Home bargains are quite good and cheap in the UK.Good for a packed lunch or snack. I don’t eat them that often though. It worked quite well as a healthy treat too. Lots of date fibre.

Whenever you like. Assuming you’re an adult and can decide what to eat for yourself.

That’s not what I was referring to though, I was asking if sometimes it’s possible to eat badly without any negative effect on health or body composition

Doesn’t eating poorly imply negative effects? That’s different to having fudge in moderation.

so one can get away with cheating on their diet twice per week or would it impede progress?

Depends on your goal. If you want to be bodybuilding stage ready then probably not. If you are looking to look pretty good at the beach then probably so. But it also depends where you currently are, how good your eating habits are and what the rest of your food looks like.

Just make your own with choc spread, peanut butter, protein powder & museli etc…as to whether they are worth it? It depends, if you travel a lot they can be handy, if you don’t I’d say they are more of a luxury than a necessity.

depends on your genetics. And the amount of muscle you carry. I’m guessing you haven’t read any posts where I’ve talked about how I eat.

I eat pop tarts or sugary cereal for breakfast every day. I drink half a dozen regular sodas most days. I snack on cookies, candy and chips at work all day. I eat ice cream before bed most nights. I had 2 pints last night. And I have like 8% bodyfat, at 200 lbs.

So yes, it’s possible for some people to eat sugar all day without negative effects on body composition. As far as health goes, I can’t say for sure what the long term effects will be on me. I’ve had a few health issues over the years, including a stomach ulcer earlier this year, but I don’t believe diet has been the cause. If I ever develop diabetes, I’ll obviously have to eliminate the sugar intake.

But the question that’s actually relevant to you is, can YOU eat junk food from time to time, or even regularly, without negative consequences. And that’s something I can’t answer for you, you’ll have to experiment and find out. I will say that I’ve never carried more than 12-13% bodyfat at any point in my life, so I’m clearly an outlier. You aren’t likely to be like me. But most people can, and should, enjoy SOME cheat meals. It’s just a question of how often.
