Protein Bar Poll. Win Supps!

Protein Plus bars from Powerbar, or Metrx Protein bars.

Power peanut butter…it’s not a bar but a little pck of peanut butter with egg and flax seeds…they’re great

Actually I want to change my answer. I forgot about Protocookies!!!

Optimum Nutrition’s Protein Diet Bar. The met-rex big 100 bars taste good as well, but I rarely eat them…wayyyyyy too many carbs.

If I have to eat a protein bar, I like the EAS. But I would rather eat a couple twix, much better candy bar!

Good ole beef jerky, hard boiled egg whites, hunks of meat and fish, and whey powder with H2O are my usual convenient, carry along protein snacks.

No protein bars because I’m allergic to soy and haven’t been able to find a soy-free bar. Maybe it’s because I live in Hawaii and the selection is more limited here? If anyone knows of a protein bar that has no soy protein, please pass that on to me. Also, glycerine, vitamin E, lecithin and vegetable oil are usually from soy sources. I would greatly appreciate the name of a bar that is high in protein, low in carbs and does not include any soy protein or soy ingredients. The convenience of a bar would be excellent. I also don’t do the artificial sweetener thing.

Even protein powders and ready to drink stuff mostly all contain soy protein or glycerine. I use plain whey powder or an egg/whey powder (without artificial sweeteners) and carry a huge canister in my car so it goes wherever I go.

I was a die-hard Met-Rx bar user until they ditched quality for profits with good-ole Hydrolyzed Collagen. PowerBar Protein Plus is the only bar I’ve found that’s reasonably priced that doesn’t have hydrolyzed cow parts on the label. Assuming their Tri-source protein blend meets label claims that is…

They all suck!

Its about time that someone comes out with a good one. Way back when, the Balance bar was really good but its just another candy bar now.

If I was going to have a protein bar these days, I feel that I would have to make my own with high-quality ingredients that I knew I could trust. I just seems the current wave of “fitness products” sold in the mass markets are simply candy bar excuses for people who want to sit on their ass and somehow think they won’t get fat. A protein bar that is lo-carb would be good, one for a “snack”, and perhaps even something more conducive to post-workout.

I don’t “really” like any, but MetRx would be the best of what’s left.

Optimum Nutrition

Biotest Grow! bars were the greatest thing ever. Everything else is nutritionally inferior. Detour bars taste good, but its a freakin snickers bar at 10g of fat per bar. I’ve been eating Met-Rx Big 100, cramed with 50g of carbs per bar. Its a sad state. Some of the Met-Rx bars have hydrolyzed collagen as an ingredient, so they’re out of the question. Bring back Grow! bars, dammit!!, I’ll gladly pay a premium knowing that I’m dealing with a reputable company who knows what quality ingredients can do to promote better performance and improved body composition.

I liked MetRX Protein Plus bars, they taste ok anyways…

I used to be hooked on protein bars. I am a chocoholic, so I used to substitute protein bars to get my fix. I would have at least 2, sometimes 3 or 4 per day, thinking I was only doing my body good. Yeah right!-I now no longer eat bars…EVER. But for the sake of this poll(I want that Tribex), I used to eat the “Solid Protein” bars by Nature’s Way or Nature’s Own(I’m not sure of the brandname).

promax lean protein bars

-good quality proteins (whey, casein, etc.)
-no soy
-moderate carbs/low net carbs
-no high fructose corn syrup
-no gelatin/collagen
-31g protein

chocolate banana nut is delicious.

unfotunately, they’ve stopped making them to make room for a more low-carb friendly bar (that’s not nearly as good)

I have not purchased a protein bar since the Grow! bars were discontinued.

MetRX… if I have to pick one. I have not had a protein bar in a long time.

I havent been able to find them around here, but I used to love those Promax bars. They had a low 20 grams of protein and taste great.
