You look a lot leaner Prof, whatever you’re doing seems to be paying off.
How’s been the diet so far?

I have only been doing this a couple of weeks. I appreciate that though. I have a long way to go.

Good luck X, gotta see what’s going on in a couple of months.
what is your feelings on using steroids? I have thought about
taking some to increase my build but then I think about the health effects. Do you take them and
if so, what do you take? I am wondering if there are any that are safer than others but you still
get the results you are looking for. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I don’t think anyone should even be thinking about steroids without medical supervision. To do anything less is setting yourself up illness or possibly death. Go to the steroid forum to discuss that topic in more detail. I am not taking steroids and am well aware that my words just written mean nothing to most people. Steroid use without medical supervision is illegal meaning you should be aware that asking people openly about something like that can often be taken as an insult or a mark of how ignorant you are of the subject matter.
You just logged in for the first time?

But Prof X, youre over 200lbs, you must be on teh roids.
Anywho.
Just out of curiousity, you’ve talked approvingly of hammer strength before, you ever used this before? We have one at my gym in Jackson, love it.
That’s the dip machine I was talking about before.

Missed that one I guess. How is the leaning down going?

Strangely. This is the first time I am using the MAG-10 this much and I avoided weighing myself for about three weeks. I weighed myself a couple of days ago to find I had gained weight even though I felt and looked leaner (I expected to see decent weight loss even though my back feels bigger) so I am not sure whether I need to cut calories even more or ride this out. I am going to cut calories more for now and see what happens.
I am not sure avoiding the scale is the way to go because I know I need to drop weight overall even if some muscle is gained in the process.
maybe I need to add some chicken in with the steaks…or maybe I just need to be happy. I am not taking fat percentages right now and only going by the mirror.

That is fairly unexpected, but it could be worse, could be losing weight and good size.
Best of luck with the leaning down.

Yes. I drink it all day long and during the workout. The only time I cut back is when trying to maintain or gain a little as I use less of it. Right now, aside from food sources, it is my source of protein.
Hey X, great thread and an excellent read. Looking forward (and back I suppose) what are/were your greatest weaknesses and what would you like to improve moving forward? Any specific challenges you’ve faced and how did you overcome them, if you don’t mind.
Keep up the great work and thanks for your contributions!

My weaknesses physically are my triceps and maybe hamstrings and rear delts. Going forward, I want to definitely bring up my arms and then work on definition above all else. Honestly. my biggest current challenge is balancing business with a desire to possibly get on stage…and I am not sure I can do both.
I appreciate the compliment.
Sorry if its been said, but what age did u start lifting? Im an aussie so what are you at in sophomore year etc.

I lifted randomly at home starting in maybe the 10th grade but I made little to no progress because I wasn’t eating enough, didn’t have any real weights and had zero guidance. I started eating well and lifting with a real gym in college around my sophomore year. I was about 18. I put on weight after that mostly from watching and following how the football team ate during meals. Those fuckers could eat. If you didn’t go back for 3rds there was something wrong with you.
Like most on here, we would all love to see you compete rather than explore business opportunities haha, but of course you must prioritize which will be better for you in the long run. Good luck either way.
Btw, have you been approached by TNation again, since they last flew you out to chat? I take it you’re not near the Biotest headquarters, but via email or TNation, it would be cool if they continued some sort of trend with using forum members to give one-on-one feedback etc.

I’m sure this has been asked before, but what do you attribute to you Lat development? I mean other than copious amounts of steak of course.
As far as back development, I do tons of rows…all kinds. The only one I don’t ever do much is the straight bar row. I use a lot of hammer strength machines for this now and randomly throw in cable rows and t-bar rows.
Yea, for some reason you don’t strike me as the type to do something like rack chins often
By the way I know you’ve said your calves are probably your worst/most stubborn body part so you work them almost every workout. Have you given DC calf training a shot? I know you’re not really into programs (although I believe you’ve mentioned DC is one of the few you’d actually try) but I’ve heard a lot of good things from people who had smaller calves being able to bring them up with that method.
I don’t use DC. I measured them this weekend at 18.5" which is about half an inch bigger than last year so what I am doing seems to be working. When I refer to them as my worst body part, I don’t mean they are super tiny. I mean that for the size of the rest of me, they probably need to be closer to 20".
Looking back, they really haven’t made progress that bad considering they were no doubt around 14" or less when I was in high school.
I just wish I had started training them regularly like this from the start.
Just a question PX, but it says here december 2009 ur arms were 18.5, i recently heard they were between 21-24" (you joking around), thus me assuming you have 21" arms, an increase of 2.5" in over a year, is this true?? where are they now??

I’m not quite sure where you got any of that. I was talking about MY CALVES in that post, not my arms. My arms were over 18" in less than 3 years of training seriously. In fact, if it had taken that long to get my arms over 18" at this height, I would assume I didn’t have the genetics for this.
I haven’t measured my arms in a long time and don’t plan to any time soon but they are nowhere near 24".
HAHAHAHAA, shit i had been going through your thread from start to finish and wasnt reading properly by the end of it, my bad. I had actually re-read that before hand and still convinced myself somehow that you were talking bout arms. Sorry, ignore that.
Something that is relevant - hope the diet is going alright, i look forward to the progress over the few months.
