Prison Should Be…

Here’s what prison should be-

If you commit a non violent crime you get somewhere between 30-60 days in a cage with only bread and water.

The cage you are in is open to the public, like the public Zoo. Your loved ones can come visit you thst way like The Zoo and shout, I’ll see you in blah amount of days.

No money, no phone calls nothing.

For repeat offenders, sentences get longer.

If you are a repeat stealer, hand gets chopped off.

I’m not in favor malnourishing prisoners. And the longer sentences you propose with only bread and water provided for nutrition would definitely induce malnutrition.

I’m not into this either, but I would like to bring back the stocks and pillory. This is similar to your idea considering people can visit and embarass

Not into it.

What sort of stealing? Would this be petty shoplifting, or stealing exorbitant amounts of stuff or cars?

I’d want the whipping post instead of chopping off hands. This worked in reducing Delaware’s car-theft problem by 33% the first year they reimplemented it in the 1920’s if I recall correctly.

So back to the middle ages then?

Probably a troll.

I think it should be more fun. Like a home away from home. With sodomy. Unless you already have that at home. Then ice cream or something.

We could toss prisoners to an arena and make them fight each others to death. Sometimes add some wild animals to the game to spice things up.

That would be a blast.

This sounds bonkers, but I’d be curious to see if the rate of repeat offenders decreases if they were all given supplements (that improve brain health) while they’re in prison… and a regimen once they get out.

There was a study on vitamin D deficiency and how it increases impulsivity. And if my memory serves me, there was a different study on the huge improvements in prisoner behavior when they were given fish oil.

Maybe some criminals have too much brain inflammation.

I think about this a lot too.

Small bombs. Like a quarter stick of dynamite they could randomly throw at each other but you only get 2 per week.

How about explosive collars ala the Running man on people on home detention.

As long as all that applies to all white-collar crime also, I could get on board.

The gauntlet of sodomy, ice cream, and dynamite just sounds like a fun Thursday.

Malnourished and long sentences?

First off, non violent sentences are WAY too long currently, YEARS!!!
Come on man…….

I said 30-60 days.

Do you know what prisoners eat with money now? Honeybuns etc.

You think that is nourishment?

Bread and water is far better.

Most prison food isn’t even edible.

Only if judges and politicians get the same treatment when they break the law.

But maybe a substantial portion of repeat offenders (generally the type who goes to prison, usually not your first time committing a crime) are psychopaths, sociopaths, narcissists, derilicts, degenerates etc who are just that way because they are that way.

Too many of us don’t want to believe this… but some people just suck… No reason aside from they were born that way.

What’s so great now? Today prisons are like mid evil castles mostly run by the convicts.

Also think about armies and war today. Today wars are started by old farts who sent youth to fight.

In the old days old men were mostly the fighters in wars. You think today’s folk are smart for sending young minds not developed to a war? Really stupid……..

But there’s a reason for it, cause youth aren’t smart yet.

Yea… enough to develop nutritional deficiencies

Low protein = muscle loss… are you hurt? No wound healing

Literally no vitamin C for 60 days? Might develop scurvy… I can go on

Well this is BS. Young men (teens and early 20s) have always made the bulk of any army.

Do you know where the word infantry comes?

I thought you meant there would be the same nutrition for longer sentences by the way you wrote your post.

I only closely know two people and have one acquaintance who served a few years. We never spoke about food, but I perhaps wrongly assume that prisoners, though their food is lousy, do not prefer to only eat bread items.

If you came up with your ideas to deter crime, I sympathize with you.

Do you mean you think of ways to deter crime? I have thought about them, recognized in previous posts that the US has the largest prison population in the entire world, and discussed why we do.

I’ve also wondered why people are so squeamish when possible ways to correct all this are discussed. We can’t kill criminals. We can’t do corporal punishment because it’s “outdated”. We can’t stop incentivization and approval of single motherhood that predictably results in future criminals (85% of young incarcerated men are fatherless and billions of federal dollars are spent on such women and their offspring).

“Why can’t we?”

“Because we can’t.”

This isn’t about rehabbing either, this is about punishing.

You also can’t let the inmates get settled in and used to prison, that does not help society.

The reason for public display is not embarrassment, it’s to present what happens to the public and also for witnesses.

Why does a prison need to be “hidden”, there’s a reason people hide things, it’s cause they are also doing bad acts as well.

No need to hide folks.

Bread is very nourishing.

It’s even in the dang bible and I’m not a bible guy.
