I cant afford the shipping costs of Biotest supplements but I really want to try something like Power Drive. Do you know of anything with similar ingredients or effects that is available locally?
I recently grabbed a bottle of bacopa to try out, any thoughts/experiences with this herb?
luddini, I haven’t found anything so far that resembles Power Drive. While I like the tyrosine by itself, there may be a synergistic effect among all of the ingredients.
As far as bacopa, it seems to be a nooptropic without much of a physical effect. Sadly, the findings of a study on humans don’t support its use: the combined extract relative to placebo did not demonstrate any significant effects on tests investigating a range of cognitive processes including attention, short-term and working memory, verbal learning, memory consolidation, executive processes, planning and problem solving, information processing speed, motor responsiveness and decision making.
Give it a try and let us know what you think. Also, give tyrosine a try at 6g/serving.

I just joined a new gym (being new in town and all), and I now have a new favourite exercise. The hammer strength low row gives me a contraction in my lats like nothing else.
Sadly, it also gets my brachialis pretty hard. This is an issue because it’s arm day, and my bi’s are fine, but the brachialis is still hammered from back day.
I guess I’ll just have to limit the volume and make sure I supinate maximally on each rep!
Thanks for the responses, exactly what I was looking for. Plus I got all the way up to “BauerIV”, definitely cool.
Okay, one last one to pester you with tonight:
I recall you saying just how incredibly beneficial it would be to slow/stop/lessen catabolism at nighttime. Do you do/recommend anything for this effect beyond having a slow absorbing protein before bedimte?
By the way, I have an old ‘bucket’ of gainer powder lying around that dont touch anymore cuz I try to stay away from simple carbs and Ive heard that gainers are particular evil when it comes to messing with insulin resistance. The main ingredients are maltodextrin, whey, & dextrose. When would be the best time to throw this in to shakes in small doses to get rid of it? Breakfast, post-workout maybe? I just cant bring myself to throw it out since I paid 60 bux for it!

samIII, not overkill per se, it’s not just something I’d focus on unless everything else is in order and you can afford it.
The law of Diminishing returns doesn’t obviate the practice, it’s just something we need to be aware of so we don’t reach the point of overkill.
Hope that makes more sense!

I do all that already, are you saying adding some BCAA powder to a pre and post Surge drink is overkill? Sorry, just thought you were saying it was a good idea before.
Uh, Polar…Barr? Damn Barr, you’re really milking this thing too far.
Anyway, what’s your take on colostrum? Is it worth incorporating into a supplement plan? Lowery told me that the jury’s still out on the issue since it doesn’t seem to absorb in the adult gut. What gives Barrbarelli?

Pre and post workout will be a good time for your powder, because you generally don’t have to worry about insulin resistance at these times.
I can expand on this next week if you’d like.

I remember a study from a few years back suggesting that oral colostrum elevated serum IGF-1 levels. I have no idea how this would be possible, and there isn’t too much support for this.
Bottom Line: I’d save your money.
Okay, now I’m really off! LOL
Cheers

Dave, how many calories would you suggest adding to each new lb of muscle gained? We know more muscle burn more calories, but is there any idea to how much?
