Crap, between you, Doc Ryan, and Get Lifted, people are going to think that I never reply to emails (or PM’s). :stuck_out_tongue:

Can we hear from people who ask questions via emails/PM and to whom I respond? LOL
You have never responded to any of my emails or PMs. :frowning:

Of course, that might be because I never sent you any…

OK— Well I’m taking them back because you can take anything back to costco or Sams.

That’s why I have a membership… That way if I don’t know what I’m getting at the store I can find out later and be a smart consumer.

Usually I find all this out before I buy something but on occasion when I run out of something or such I don’t have time to wait for days.

OK… So I’m sick of guessing already… What Brand do all the trainers and such use here? Shoot for 30% fish oil like I was before?

What is Ethyl Ester fish oil?

What do I need to know when reading the fish oil label to know “oh it’s good?”

Thanks Barr,

-Get Lifted

P.S I’ll ask Lowery too.

You LIE! I just checked and we were chatting about the bootcamp (I never delete PM’s)! LOL

Those are the only PM’s I have.

Hi DB,

Which of the following would you choose for pre-workout drink?

Low-Carb Grow!
Surge
Whey protein

Why? and how long would you take it before workout?

I am asking this question as I am planning to buy something to put at my workplace, that I can consume before my workout at 6:30pm.

Thanks in advance for answering.

DB,

I eat. A lot. I’ve always been on the bigger side and eating has always been easy.

However, for about the last month, I’ve found that it is getting harder to eat what I normally would. I still get hungry, but 10 mouthfuls in and it’s like I’m still full from a meal I had 3 hours ago. This isn’t normal.

Any ideas on how to speed up digestion (or if that is even the problem)?

Massif, any major lifestyle changes or novel stresses in your life?

You couldn’t have come to a better person with this question, because I have natural propensity to consume 1500 Cal/day!

I’m all over liquid meals (blenders are great for “pre-digesting” food).

Snacking is also important, so you don’t get completely full, and can eat again in a few hours.

As a preview of the upcoming article, jack up your nutrient density so you’re consuming more Calories for a smaller volume of food.

I have been reduced to having liquid meals during the day so I can get my calories down. My first lunch has been reduced from steak, eggs and salad to fruit youghurt, and a protein and malt shake.

This sucks balls. Four hours without steak makes a man weak.

New stress in life? Work is flat out at the moment, but it hasn’t affected me in the past.

Appreciate your help.

GL, I hope you’re not taking them back because you thought that I said they sucked. If you like them, then keep using them (as long as you’re not paying an arm and a leg for them).

I spoke to Dr. Loman about it who echoed that he’d like to see human data on the claims. Also that cost is largely a determining factor -particularly when the enteric coated don’t cost much more than regular caps.

Cheers

GB, I like Surge a little… http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=459463

I have mine 15 minutes before warmup. Do not try this for the first time on a leg day, and have a CHO drink ready in case your blood sugar drops.

Let us know how it goes!

Earlier, Get Lifted Wrote
I’m trying to figure out lifting. They get us up at 5:30am before classes and my body does not feel right lifting heavy that early. My joints hurt and my muscles and mind are not warmed up. I do the best that I can while being safe but I know I could go heavy and more aggressive later… I’m sticking with EC advice on doing near maximal weight to keep my strength for big lifts(power clean, squat, deadlift, Bench) and assistance or accessory to keep my posture and strength I guess(nothing specific mentioned yet though).

It is difficult when you go from waking up, to classes and then to practice and then to bed and taking airplane rides on weekends to get good lifts in. I’m figuring it out this week though because I’m not going to let my strength go much this time.

I’ll figure something out but this early morning thing is no, no.

-Get Lifted
GL, the first year I was an assistant strength coach, I used to train my athletes after their practice (the only time the coach would allocate for this).

Of course this sucked, so when I took over, I used to wake up to train the basketball team at 7AM.

Based on this experience, I’d spent an extra 5 minutes warming up (10-15 minutes total). Have your pre workout drink, and take Spike or other stimulants to ensure that you’re jacked for the workout.

novamcglone wrote
Dave,
For someone that tends to get queasy if working out on a full stomach, would having a serving of Surge roughly 1 hour before lifting be good?

I would immediately follow this with 1 serving PWO, as I tend to stick with water only during the workouts (again, the whole deal where I feel like I’ll puke if i have a shake, I’ve tried it before. Didn’t work out).
-Greg
nova, having Surge 1 hour pre workout is not a good idea. Surge tends to spike and then drop blood sugar very quickly (which is what we want), but you’d have low blood sugar by the time you got to your workout.

A better idea would be to have Low-Carb Grow! an hour before your workout. That way, you’re protein fed for your training session, and you shouldn’t have stomach issues.

As always, let us know how it goes!

GL, I think you’ve confused my very basic answers with the idea that we’re withholding info from you. LOL

As far as I know, there is no one brand that everyone uses. I myself jump from brand to brand based on convenience, and now that I’m back in CAN, I’ll have to search for yet another.

To reiterate, I’ve always seen the 180:120 EPA:DHA with fish oil caps. I wouldn’t go for anything too fancy right now, because it will likely cost you more for something unproven.

We also don’t have any info on “good” or “bad” fish oil, so right now it doesn’t seem too important as long as you’re getting your ~3g/day (any brand).

Hope this clears things up!

Wait, you just sent me a PM! Now I am wrong. :frowning:

No, no, no, I don’t think you are withholding information.(If you were, I would just change the temperature of the room to extremes and handcuff you in an uncomfortable position and keep you up ALL night until I get the information out of you. or until I fell asleep or I could ask the boys to leave the room and slap you around a bit) HAHAHA :o

I was just expressing my frustration of not knowing what to pick up. I wanted to know more about what I was buying, hence all the questions. I will just take them back if the evidence does not support their claims. Ethyl Ester or whatever. If it’s unsound, it does not warrant such a price or purchase. It was a new product soooo oh well.

Maybe I’ll call the 1-800 # tomorrow and see where this data comes from and such and ask some more questions. Ehhhhh, It would give me something to do in between class for that 40 minutes.

Somethings fishy besides the poor fish.
