Yeah, but I offered Canadian money…the exchange rate is TOTALLY DIFFERENT!

$79.95 + S&H
Less than half of what you offered me.
Guys,
Do you have any thoughts on clenbuterol ?
I’ve read some studies to suggest that it causes heart cell death …albeit in rats. Meanwhile, I know lots of bodybuilders who love the stuff [and use it for “physique maintenance” ]
Any thoughts one way or another ?
Thanks
I don’t like clen because its beta adrenergic effect (ie fat burning) only lasts a couple of weeks. And the whole “muscle maintenance” issue won’t work with the small doses that humans can tolerate.
Bottom Line: good for 2 weeks, that’s it.
Wait, wait, I think I found the answer:
"Sometimes profs pull out the most obscure sources that we’d never otherwise find.
Then again, others simply talk out of their ass."
-Barr
Actually, you can still answer if you’d like.
Thanks for all the info, too ![]()

Thanks for the questions guys! I’ll be back tomorrow.
I’d like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Lonman for helping out (ie taking over) tonight!

DB - That is pure gold!!!
Often times academics are so sick of athletes over-emphasizing protein that they tend to be pretty down on it. It seems like a bit of a “counter-culture”.
I suggest you read as much as you can from both pro- and con-perspectives… always with a grain of salt.

Lonnie OR Barr,
What about excessive protein and gout, dehydration, joint inflammation, and low calcium levels?
If there are few studies pointing to kidney or liver problems, then why do people (aka my sports nutrition and weight control professor) make it a point that high amounts of protein are dangerous and that they cause all of these problems?
I’m confused!
Whew! I’m out too.
Good night all!
Oh no you didn’t.
It’s on like Donkey Kong beeyotch!

Dude, you can’t just take the same joke I made about you and try to re-use it about me the next week (especially when it is not even near as funny as the one I made about you).
But, like they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Anyway, I’m inquiring about how the body handles sugar alcohols. Can I continue to use my sugar free syrup guilt free or am I being ignorant in this practice?
It’s not too bad as long as you don’t use too much. In other words, don’t go to the Olympia with Dr. Ryan after he’s been eating free samples of protein Barrs all day. ![]()
BTW-Why go sugar free?

Oh… you saw that. Hmm.
Shouldn’t you be on your own thread prescribing antibiotics for viral infections?
OMFG.
Ryan, how do you put up with this?

Yeah, those questions kinda touched a nerve. I’ve always had to downplay the applied ignorance of profs, just in case it gets back to them (and ultimately destroys my research career). I guess I just snapped last night.
Seriously, there are too many profs on a power trip who just “can’t be wrong.” They need to realize the responsibility they hold for shaping the minds of tomorrow’s professionals. Seriously.
Having said that, I also agree with Dr. Lonman, that bb’s exaggerate proteintake far too often, and believe whatever they want, so profs create this counter-culture.
Where has all the logic gone?
This is waaay off topic, but is anyone else following the hurricane Rita story?
It’s crazy to think that I’ve been living in Galveston for the past couple of years, only to move before it gets hit hard.

YOU certainly didn’t keep any of it.
LL, thanks for yesterday.
DB, don’t be jealous.

Just wondering what kind of articles you are working on these days. I remember something about a cortical article is that right? Or did you already write about that? Any chance you’ll write about training anytime soon? If not, how about sharing some tips here.
Oh, BTW, what’s up with the PopTarts? Are you serious or is the constant reference to PopTarts and other sugary treats with empty calories in jest?
Barr,
I asked you about MSM over e-mail the other day; care to reply here so everyone can benefit?
Earlier I mentioned antibiotics and viral infections. I think this came to me bacause I’ve been sick for the past week.
This is the first infection that’s actually made it to my lungs, so in addition to “taking it easy” there are a few tips that may help when you’re sick.
Don’t stay up all night working on your business. Sleep. 2 days ago I slept for 15 hours! Now sleeping 2 hours more then normal may not sound like a lot, but my body clearly needed it.
Maintain blood sugar levels. Don’t fast or stay on a low carb diet when you’re sick. Your immune cells need energy to fight.
DRINK. For the past 24 hours, my urine has been dark yellow because my drive to drink has been nill. Keep a water bottle (as full as possible) always in reach, or even in your way so you can’t miss it or forget about it.
People often ask about exercise when you’re sick, so I should mention that.
Although it’s not ideal to train when you’re sick, I have never found it to be a problem when only slightly ill.
Of course my energy levels are down, and I can only put forth 50% effort, and 50% of the time (30 minutes in, I’m DEAD), but you shouldn’t be training too hard anyway. In fact, many of us get sick because we’re training too hard.
Besides, we need to save our energy for fighting the infection, not growing new muscle.
Having said all of that, if the infection has moved into your lungs (my hand is raised) take some time off. You don’t need to be distributing this virus all over the gym.
