Preparing Spinach

allright, I am going to incorporate spinach into my diet. I have some cans of the Popeye spinach because popeye is buff. Anyway, what is the best way to prepare it so that I won’t dread eating it?

Just squeeze the can and shoot it into my mouth? OK I’ll work on that.

I just throw it in the juicer and use it as part of my veggie drink. If you don’t have one of those you could always throw it in a salad with some lettuce, red peppers, tomatoes, carrots etc.

I always thought canned spinach was foul, nasty stuff. I like buying a big bag of fresh spinach (near the bagged salads in the supermarket) and saute it with some garlic and olive oil. It’s easy and tasty. Cram a lot into the pan and put the lid on for a minute or two because the volume goes down a lot once it cooks. Good luck!

ditto but I add fresh really ripe tomatoes and balsamic to the mix. very yummy and good with meats and fish too!

One of my favorites is a sort of creamy spinach variation.

Saute half a finely chopped onion in oil of choice, add one clove minced garlic. When onions go clear add two bags frozen spinach. No additional water. Once spinach is thawed/hot add salt to taste, dash of pepper, and about 1/2 cup cream cheese. That’s it.

I do a big batch and this is so tasty added to other things. Eggs especially.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll be ditching these cans and getting some fresh stuff.

I buy fresh spinach, chuck a handful into a plate, sprinkle a little water, wrap in plastic and throw it in the microwave oven for just a minute and walla! perfectly cooked spinach

Buy spinach from the produce section. Wash it. Dry it. Throw it in a bowl. Pour some raspberry vinegarette and olive oil on it. Eat it.
