I find myself getting farther and farther away from the GOP. I’m also starting to think that America’s answer isn’t going to be found in either major political party. All that being said, a democrat majority scares the living piss out of me.

Why is a higher minimum wage and stem-cell research “scary”?
Minimum Wage: Ok, who is going to pay for a higher minimum wage to give high school kids more spending cash?

You guys always think you have great ideas, but never seem to get that someone has to pay for all these handouts. Your only answer is to continue to tax those who are creating jobs and producing. Well guess what sparky, these companies are getting damn tired of that, and that, buckwheat, is why many companies have gone to India and other countries to avoid all this crap. Every call a customer service line lately and wonder why the guy on the other end has a very strong Indian accent? Well now you know douche-nozzle.

What’s scare about Stem-cell research is that it has not produced anything. And having the Government sink billions into something with no reasonable requirement for outcomes and no substantiated outcomes to date is very, very, very poor use of our money. But again, Dem’s never care where the money comes from, just that it doesn’t come from them.

Unless you make minimum wage, your salary isn’t going to get adjusted percentage-wise with the minimum wage hike. Therefore, everyone NOT making minimum wage will have taken a step BACK on the payscale.
That doesn’t make any sense, sorry. Raising the minimum wage will have a ripple effect, because the workplace is a competitive environment.

That’s not true either. The Republicans lorded it over the Democrats, for example wouldn’t consult with them on legislation, wouldn’t let them hold meetings, wouldn’t let them call witnesses during hearings. When Clinton was President he called GOP Senate leaders to consult them on judge apointees. Do you think Bush would ever do that? It’s true that when Democrats controlled the House, the minority party was often shut out, but not to the extent we’ve seen lately. Since the 94 election, the tone in the House has gotten much uglier. Check out the book The Broken Branch:

We’ve got to protect Row and if we say we can pop a kid’s head open while his feet are out of the womb then we might lose the argument if his feet are IN the womb. So let’s do it! Real fucking progressive! I feel more cultured just TALKING about it.

Fuck off.

Hack, I couldn’t agree more. PBA is something only Nazis could think of. It is simply Satanic. Anyone participating in such a horror show should have to be re-conceived and have it done to them.

You both are 100% spot on. A damned sick procedure that Michigans newly re-elected governer doesn’t have the balls, or moral fortitude, to ban.

Sick shit.

Illegal immigration problems pervade, international relations are in the toilet, we got tax cuts [for the RICH], and outsourcing is a huge problem. Assuming we are all willing to concede that war in Iraq was a good idea in the first place, it was horribly executed. A fact which many Republicans agree with. Aren’t the Republicans great? Easy enough to focus on one hot-button issue that many Democrats don’t agree with, and importantly, one that many of the newly elected Democrats that ousted Republicans wouldn’t agree with.

If your 13-years old daughter is out getting pregnant and aborted without your knowledge, you’re a fucking lousy parent.

But blaming someone else for your failures is so much easier, right?

You always like bending the scenario huh? He wasn’t talking about himself as you spin it.

I guess we have to then assume we wouldn’t have this problem if everyone was a great parent, but No…the reality is that the groups that are likely to take advantage of these free services are not getting good parenting.

There’s a shitload of people out there who should not be parents, but is this then MY fault? Should I have to pay for it?

When I see the right wing get all their nuts in a twist over the rape, maiming and murder happening in Darfur and the like, then I’ll believe they actually care about the sanctity of life.

Until then, don’t pretend you have any moral legs to stand on.

Absolutely brilliant!

I don’t agree with all or parts of social liberalism and foreign policy liberalism, but I can at least see the merits of their arguments.

Liberal economics, on the other hand, is one of the most retarded ideas ever concieved by mankind.

Mmm…democrats haven’t been in power last time I checked. We’ll see what they do with all of these issues and what initiatives they take. I stand by the fact that the party in power did a lousy job. I don’t rant against he GOP. I think past adminstration’s have done good work. The democrats may be too beholden too corporations as well but what they should do is make it financial suicide for corporations to hire dirt-cheap illegal labor.

Close that loophole. People will not come across the border illegally if their is no opportunity to be had illegally [at our expense]. As far as outsourcing goes, raising the minimum wage will do little in my opinion. It’s more the unions that are the problem that need to be reigned in. The jobs in question are not minimum-wage jobs that have competition from other countries. Though they can be low-paying jobs.

People are actually making too much money in these jobs for the work that they’re doing because of union pressure and the like. Raising the minimum wage would simply help the absolute lowest strata of society from being completely destitute and adjust for inflation. Wages generally have gone up. But not the minimum wage. A little raise will do nothing else except hurt the bottom line of corporations a little bit.

Our trade agreements with foreign countries need massive overhaul as well. And that’s not an area in which I think Clinton did a good job. A lot of the problems in that area were caused or exaserbated by him. Doesn’t mean Bush has done anything to improve the situation. He hasn’t.

I don’t know if I can speak for the “right wing”, but I know that the main reason I don’t ‘care’ about Darfur is that there’s nothing the U.S. can do short of a military invasion to stop it.

Considering the left has just spent nearly four years trying to convince voters that we shouldn’t use our military to police the world, why is Darfur any different?

I agree that this would only impact poor parents. But the issue is why anyone would not think it a good idea for a teenage girl to first talk with her parents before having any surgery? That is the issue. Why do dem’s want to remove parental rights? The right for a parent to just get a call from the clinic before an abortion is preformed. That seems very reasonable and very unreasonable that some people oppose that. It’s not about abortion, it’s about parental rights.

Even Reagan couldn’t shrink the gov’t. It is going to keep getting larger. They just keep tightening the shackles so slowly that we don’t notice it. In 20 years we’re going to hear this collective “click” and find that we’re all slaves to the gov’t after all.

painful stupidity, just painful.

We can only pray it won’t have the devastating effects it had when Clinton raised it…oh wait…low income employment skyrocketed…And states with higher minimum wages are really suffering…oh…they’re not suffering at all, ok, well Mississippi has no minimum wage and they’re doing, oh gee…awful.
