Prednisone for Asthma...Catabolic?

Every year when the seasons change I get bad asthma attacks. This time it was so bad I had to go to the emergency room at 4 in the morning becaus the attacks wouldnt stop. they prescribed me Prednisone, a steroid that I’ve had to use for asthma before, but earlier in my life before lifting weights was important. (I’m 20 now)

Side effects can include: weight gain (fat), deposits of fat in chest, back and mid section, and loss of muscular strength. WTF?

Now, granted I’m only on this shit for 4 days, and I’m gonna take the full dose because like i said, the asthma got REALLY bad this time around…but shit guys… I’ve worked so hard and to long to lose the abs that are finally becoming visible, and the recent gains I made on my hang cleans.

What I’m basicly asking is what is the best way to do damage control while on this crap? What should I eat to minimize these potential effects from happening to me? It should be known I really cant do any type of physical activity for the next few days.

what you should do is quit being a pansy.

4 days on prednisone isnt going to do shit to your newfound abs or cause you to have fat deposits all over the place.

i was on prednisone for a week about two years ago, didnt do anything to me. i know other lifters that have been on prednisone for about the same length of time, didnt do shit to them either.

quit worrying about it. does it really seem realistic to you that the prednisone is going to really do anything to your body or your muscles in those 4 days? did your muscles take 4 days to build?

Right, don’t worry about it. In the mean time, if you have any achy joints or muscles, enjoy the pred, it will help take away the inflammation of them. Maintain hydration, drink a lot of water while on it. True, you might retain some and bloat, but you will piss it out @3 days after you are done taking it.
By the way, don’t mean to scare you, but the real worry you should have is the psycosis it causes in 1/1000 users. Have fun.
