Powerlifting Log

Nice job on the bench man. Thats pretty fucking crazy jumping that much weight in such a short time, how the fuck did you do it? lol

I’m not really sure. Iv’e been training my upperback/traps a lot more lately. Also, I have a tendency to get really pissed off and pshyched up when I’m doing anything heavy. I usually rush the setup, and it’s over before it starts. On this particular day though, I just stayed completely relaxed mentally up until the 195, and 205 attempts. I took plenty of time setting up just right and I am also really starting to get the leg drive and using my lats. Everything just sort of came together. It was unbelievably awsome, whatever the reason was lol.

Well, BMT is over. I got to my tech school a couple weeks ago. I’ve done some light stuff at the gym, and just started getting back into it. I worked up to some heavier(not max) lifts and ended up with this.

Squat: 225x5, 255x3 no belt

Bench: 155x5, 165x1

Deadlift: 315x8 w/belt

I dropped a bunch of strength on my bench, but my squat/deadlift seem like they havent dropped too much. I’ve got a lot of strength to get back, but I’m looking forward to it. One thing I will say is basic definetly changed my mindset. I remember how psyched up I had to get to deadlift 315 for 10 before basic, and today when I did it for 8 I didnt really have to prepare mentally at all. Or, at least if was different. I guess it’s pretty hard to explain. I probably wont post every training session, but will at least periodically post current rep pr’s and maxes to track progress.

Good to see you back here man, and dont worry, youll get your strength back in a few weeks.

Yea, my strength is coming back really quick actually. I went and squatted today, and ended up with a pretty hard but doable 275x5. I have to look back, but I think this either ties my old PR or breaks it. Once I get my shoulders all healed up(they really took a beating during basic, our TI liked to make us “push Texas” quite a bit) my bench should catch up too. It sucks going from a competition spec bench to a shitty commercial one though. It’s really damn low, and hard to set up on. Of course, you have all the damn cretins telling you that your going to break your back when you arch, and your doin it “all wrong.”

Worked up to 365 for a double today, then did some lunges, shrugs, and abs. The deads felt pretty good, and the 365 was PR. I probably wont be doing much next week until I adjust to my new schedule. My class ended up with the graveyard shift(11pm-6am). There changing us again in a month to swings(4-12) too. Mids should be pretty cool though, because I can study without anyone bothering me, and train during the day while it’s not packed full of imbeciles. Swings probably wont be bad either.
