Powerlifting Focused Layer Approach. Advice?

Hey Coach,

Super sweet and to the point.

  • I’m doing a powerlifting meet (1st ever) in December

  • My best overall gains have come from the layering system (and variations)

  • I want to focus your layering system specifically for powerlifting. Ideally benching and squatting twice per week and Deadlift once per week.

  • I’m 2A

My first thoughts was to replace the Incline bench with another comp bench day and alter the layers (can’t land on something I think is smart). And replace the high pull with the Deadlift. Then where would a second Squat session fit in and how would I program my second bench and squat day?

I’d give a more thorough plan for you to look at but I know you aren’t a fan so I thought I’d throw a shot in the dark and hope for the best. Layers FTW!

Thanks Coach for any help with this.

I’m having great results with bench on one pressing day and close grip bench on the other.

I setup both pressing days as layers, one squat day with layers, and then a regular lower body that hits the deadlift.

I used to have a screenshot of how CT set up layers for a powerlifter but, since I am not interested in powerlifting, I must have deleted it. You may want to keep scrolling through this forum to see if you can find anything with layers and powerlifting in the title. I’m sure it was not an article but a response to a question here.
I think there is something on his personal website as well. May want to spend some time there.

@believer423 I have looked and seen a few. But not what I’m looking for…
