Well knee is still hurting, and more than I expected, so Sheiko is done with.

Today was pretty good… just got some semi heavy benching in and did some volume with close grip. Will probably do a ton of back my next training day. I gotta rest my knee up cuz it feels worse than I thought it would…

Later in the week I’ll try to do some leg stuff without bending my knees, like light GM’s, stiff leg deadlifts… etc. Just gonna do what I can while I let my knee heal. It really sucks, but I just gotta keep off it as much as possible.

15x225 I don’t remember my rep record with 225 but I think this matches it.

Nothing much else to report… did a lot of back stuff, chest stuff, some abs…

Knee still not feeling good enough to use it. Gonna try to do some deadlifts friday.

My new knee sleeves came in today and they are freakin awesome. I got these: https://www.strengthshop.co.uk/thor-knee-sleeve-support-brace-thick-heavy.html

They almost feel like a light wrap. My old knee sleeves from a sporting goods store did absolutely nothing except keep them a little warm. These give a bit of support but doesn’t feel like a ton.

Bench felt good today. Last time I did those bench against bands I hit 250, but when I got home I realized I did it close-grip last time so it wasn’t quite the same, so not really a PR. Incline felt really strong so I just wanted to test it. I’ll hit 315 soon on incline which will be huge for me I think… I’ve always hated incline bench but I feel pretty good at it now.

I was gonna do some leg stuff but knee is still hurting and bothering me so I said screw it and just gonna let it rest over the weekend. Have a good weekend everyone.

Heading to Scotland for this 3 day weekend.

jowweee sorry i missed your calls. been busy last couple days.

just to let you know dave was in an accident at work. he had a big piece of glass dropped on him and he snapped his lower leg…compound fracture of tibia and fibula. he had to have rods, plates and pins put in to piece him back together. i told him he’ll have to be a BOF for awhile.

i still haven’t seen any pics of this beard of yours. i’ve set a PR with mine. i’m going on 10 weeks now.

That’s cool. I read your post about the meet. By the way… we got a ‘Magic Jack’ phone that gives us a 703 # that anyone can call, it works just like a phone back in the states. It pretty cool, it just plugs into my computer and goes through the internet, but is completely free to use anywhere.

That really sucks about Dave. My mom fractured both of those and had to have rods put in and all that… she couldn’t walk for a really long time. Go team BOF! lol. Speaking of which, how is your back doing?

Yeahhhhh about my beard… I ended up shaving it but kept the full goatee mustache thing so I’ll get a picture of that. I did get a picture of the full beard but that was a few weeks ago… should have got an up to date picture before shaving it, it was almost as long as yours, haha. My beard doesn’t come in that full and looks likes long pubes on my face so I got rid of it. I like the full goatee though so gonna keep that around.

My knee is still hurting… it is pretty frustrating to not be able to use it. Yesterday I woke up and my shoulder/arm was hurting really bad and I could hardly raise my arm… no idea what I did for it to just start hurting all the sudden… still hurting today too.

Anyway, I’ll try callin ya again later.

Well, I haven’t posted much because I haven’t been doing a whole ton. I’ve been benching, but nothing special. My arm was hurting, but that is getting better. About my knee pain… well it’s finally starting to get better since I haven’t been squatting or deadlifting. Been doing a little bit of stiff leg deadlifts just to try to maintain some strength. It’s really hard to not train but my knee obviously was getting worse so I had to stop using it. It felt pretty good today, and isn’t hurting now… but we’ll see how it feels tomorrow I guess. Hopefully it is ok. I still wont be squatting I don’t think, and if I do it’ll be to a box and probably a bit above parallel or something.

Anyway, I had planned to do 5x5 with 275, but I figured I would keep going until it got hard, to see what I could handle. I probably could have done one more set of 5 but left it at that. I’ll hit something heavier toward the end of the week then do 4x4 with something heavier next week.

Deadlifts actually felt better than I thought they would. I worked up to 545, which was a lot heavier than it should be… but I wasn’t anywhere near failing or anything… so I should be able to get back to the 600 range before too long.

We have a snowboarding trip in the Swiss Alps in less than 4 weeks. So I’m going to try to get back into the swing of things and keep trying to take it easy on my knee. Hopefully it feels good by time we go snowboarding… hopefully have some fun without doing anything stupid and just take it easy on it. HOPEFULLY everything is good after taking off a week to go snowboarding and I can really get back to it after that. There is a meet in a few months I was thinking of doing, if my knee is better after snowboarding.

Still weighing around 250ish… I saw some pictures of me about a year ago when I got all the way up to 270… man my face was pretty round, haha. I’m 250 now and stronger and been maintaining this weight for a pretty long time now… if all is going well after the snowboarding trip I think I am going to start bulking again and get up to the 275 weight class. Putting on weight with the strength gains is so fun. Snowboarding on the other hand at that size starts to get pretty tiring, lol.

you spend more time travelling than working!

Haha, well I’m actually trying to find more work right now. I’m not working much since we moved here for my wife’s job. Some days are pretty boring actually… but I’m calling this one university tomorrow that I found in the states that does a completely online Bachelor’s degree in a exercise science type degree. Definitely can’t complain about not having to work a ton, but I am trying to find something to keep me busy that doesn’t suck.

So I always have a shake in the morning and before bed, and meals in between etc.

Whenever I start bulking again I eat more, but mainly I just up the shake calories, haha. I love shakes… so easy.

Started making this shake again:
2 cups 2% milk = 260 calories
2 scoops whey = 260
1 banana = 100
1.5 cup oats = 450
2 tbsp honey = 120
2 tbsp peanut butter = 190
Total = 1380. Probably a bit more than that since some of my measurements are a bit full.

Going to start doing 2 of those a day again and watch what my weight does.

Well I am fairly happy with 565… felt easier than 545 last week so strength is definitely going to come back fast. I’m sure I coulda pulled 585 today but just left it at that for now. Just going to get back into the swing of things slowly with my lower body stuff. Knee is feelin pretty good so I decided to do some leg press… and surprisingly had no pain at all. I kept putting plates on there, and was going pretty low too. the 10x10p didn’t even feel that heavy, so that’s good. Next week gonna do some squats and see how I feel.

I started taking Super Cissus around 10 days ago, maybe 2 weeks… cant remember exactly. It’s hard to be positive how much it’s helping but my knee sure is feeling a ton better so I’m going to assume it’s doing something.

+lots of accessory crap for chest and back.

Did lots of warmup stuff before benching. Left shoulder is still bothering me but it seems to kind of go away if I warm up a lot and take my time. Still not sure what I did in the first place to make it start hurting. Oh well. I did a couple weeks of reverse band bench but I’m gonna switch to something not quite so heavy on my shoulder next bench day.

stopp’n in to check out your progress. any comps. in the future?? my next one is feb.19th. haven’t really peaked for it. just going to go in and do my best. back has been Efffed up for awhile. finally feels good. hit 565 against a lot of band tension. i’ll hit the bands one more time. if i can hit 600 against those bands i feel good for hitting a PR at the meet.

Ehhh right now I’m just trying to get back in the groove. My knee hurting sucks… but it’s my first injury and I suppose it happens just gotta deal with it. It’s feeling much better though so hopefully I can squat later this week. Everything is starting to feel better so hopefully I can keep it that way and actually start hitting some real PR’s again.

As for competitions… I was thinking of doing this one: http://www.britishpowerlifting.co.uk/

April 14th. It’s the top poster on the page. It’s only about 2.5 hours away from me so it’d be fun to do. It’s a qualifier for the bigger comps later in the year if I want to do those too.

They don’t really have hardly any raw records, but it looks pretty fun anyway. I think their geared lifting is all single ply though, which I think is pretty cool.

The other competition a couple months ago in Ireland that I was thinking of doing but didn’t end up going would have been cool. I saw that Andy Bolton was there and some other really strong mofo’s.

Oh yeah, and I saw your deadlifting… awesome stuff. Hitting the 545 twice then the 565.

I’m going to see about ordering an okie deadlift bar this week from APT. Their website says they ship to APO for only $8.95, but I’m gonna call and see if that applies to a bar too. I believe it is under the size limit for APO.

Drop a line to Element 26 - he keeps his log here, he competes in the BPC and may be able to give you some more info pal!

Well, first time squatting in a month and my knee held up pretty well. 315 wasn’t hard or anything but definitely felt a lot heavier than it should. :frowning:

But, I suppose it’s not that bad… knee is definitely healing up and being patient will pay off. When I was deadlifting some other guy came in and started doing some deadlifts next to me. It was kind of funny cuz he just kept putting the over sized rubber 25’s on so it looked like a lot. He did some walking lunges and even used the big rubber 25’s on the bar for that, lol.

My plan has been to just take it easy and get everything healed up by time we go on our snowboarding trip Feb 18th… so I got 2 more weeks and everything seems to be getting better. Still hoping come March I can start hitting some heavy weight again.

I found his log thanks man. I’ll drop him a line later. I did notice that Andy Bolton does a lot of the BPC competitions so it would be really cool to get to meet him. It’s probably lame but would want to get a picture with him, haha.

Just ordered my Okie Deadlift bar from www.crain.ws

Can’t wait!!

Nice investment - got to say, I am loving my texas power bar - the knurling is sharp as fook!!! Much nicer to deadlift with!
