Nice investment - got to say, I am loving my texas power bar - the knurling is sharp as fook!!! Much nicer to deadlift with!
Yeah, it’s funny since I train at the base gym I will have to carry it in with me when I deadlift… which I have no problem doing! lol.
Although, I’m not sure what federations around here use a deadlift bar for competition. It would be weird to train with one then compete without it.

This was a great day in the gym. I’ll have to look back at my training since I haven’t been doing military press lately, but I think my previous best was 185x3, so I’m really happy with that. I got a new training book for 2012 in the gym and started it today. Going to go back to a 3 day a week rotation of military/deadlift/bench/squat and stop doing so many exercises and focus on what matters.
Also, man I suck at DB rows. How the fuck do 100’s feel so heavy to me? I’m going to keep hitting them and do more sets next week.
This weekend I looked back through the last couple years of my training books to see what I was doing when I was making the best gains. This is the type of training I think I need to be doing and I enjoy it too.
Edit: I looked back and my previous best military press is 185x7, but I’m still pretty happy since when I hit that I was overhead pressing a lot, but I haven’t been lately. I was also using inzer elbow sleeves when I did that, which helps a bit, but I’m not now.

Drop a line to Element 26 - he keeps his log here, he competes in the BPC and may be able to give you some more info pal!
I found his log thanks man. I’ll drop him a line later. I did notice that Andy Bolton does a lot of the BPC competitions so it would be really cool to get to meet him. It’s probably lame but would want to get a picture with him, haha.
You won’t be able to understand him - he speaks a strange language called ‘Yorkshire’. Still, I’m sure you could tell him a thing or two about deadlifting, cos God Damn you have a strong pull mate.
I highly recommend you get a pic with Andy…one of the nicest dudes I’ve had the pleasure of meeting…helluva big guy too! Buy him a pint and he will be your bff

Yeah, I’ll give him some tips! lol…
Actually, I just went to his website and saw that he is putting on some seminar only a few hours away from me on March 31st. Sounds pretty fun, I’ll probably go check it out.

Haha, I saw this picture when you posted it in your log. Pretty cool man. If I meet him I’ll offer to buy him a beer.
Another good one. Feeling like I’m getting my training back on track. My best reverse band dead with this setup is 695x1, and it was a grinder… so I’m pretty happy with hittin 675 tonight. Plan will be to do them for two more sessions and finish with a PR. The deficits felt good too and I got a video of them I’ll get up in a few minutes.
First time trying those hypers… was talking to Meat and he recommended them. They felt like they definitely hit the hamstrings and low back pretty hard.
That’s it. Knee not 100% but I did a lot of warming up before squatting and it was feelin alright once I was gettin some weight on the bar. 405 wasn’t too bad really, it just feels so damn heavy on my back since I haven’t been squatting. I got a video of it but it’s like 2 minutes long so I was trying to get a program to cut it down.
I’m not sure what my PR is without knee wraps, but I don’t plan on using them for several more sessions. If my knee is feeling good I’ll start doing some light squats on my deadlift day.
Going to do mon/tues thurs/fri this week so I can get in all 4 since we are leaving saturday morning to go on a snowboarding trip for a week.
Small PR but I’m really happy with it since I had some time off due to my knee issue. Knee is doing much better… still recovering but it’s feelin pretty good. My best deficit is 550. Next time I do them I am going to attempt 565. Getting one more bench session in tomorrow then I’ll be gone snowboarding all next week.
I got a video of the 700 but I’ll have to upload it later… damn british internet is going really slow right now.
Been eating a lot lately and bodyweight is up to 260… kind of pudgy right now but I don’t mind.
I downloaded a movie editor but when I cut the video down it came out all black… I’ll start cutting them down eventually. They are really long since I have to set it up myself now, lol.
That’s it. Chain setup is nice… I’ll get a video next time. At lockout the chains are barely touching the floor so I’m picking up all the weight. It was a little harder than expected, but I’m getting back into the groove with everything right now and I’m excited to see how this works out. I won’t be following the program exactly (obviously, with the chains) but will tailor it a little bit for my own training. The accessory stuff was pretty light since I have to hit the 2nd deadlift session later this week because of scheduling. After that I should be good to go. I may throw in an extra deload somewhere in the program if I feel I need it, other than week 5.

I want to see this 700lb pull man! Massively impressive; congrats.
Haha. 700 is a ways off still but hoping for it this year. 7 plates(675) is my shorter term goal… going to try for that before I go on vacation in June.

Holy shit. Impressed with this strength I am.
Haha, thanks man. Strength is down a little bit right now but I’m getting back on track and hopefully will hit some real PR’s in the next couple months.
Also, I did some benching today but nothing worth posting about. I’m starting a bench program on Monday so I’ll start logging that when I do.
Pretty good day, although the 490+90c felt a lot heavier than it should have… not sure what is up with that. Maybe since I was forced to do this session only a few days after the first. Next one I will be more rested and hopefully feel stronger. I did something a bit different then the straight 8 sets of 3. I just did 8 sets of 2 but at a deficit… felt pretty good. I definitely don’t feel as explosive right now, and I’m assuming that’s because I haven’t been squatting much because of my knee. I’ll be squatting again starting next week so hopefully that goes well.
Curls
40x8 (DB)
85x8 (EZ Bar Preacher)
85x10 (EZ Bar Standing)
Rope Face Pulls
35x20
50x15
First day of the bench program. It’s benching twice a week (Mon & Fri). I’ll do squats on friday after benching, and C/P Deadlift is on Wednesday. Felt pretty good tonight.
I was screwing around and didn’t realize how much time I wasted and had to run after doing push presses. I was meeting someone about a job. I think I might start working at the bar on base and train to be the main bartender. Just a night or two a week.
Not too bad considering I drank pretty heavily Friday and Saturday, which is not normal for me. Didn’t get out of bed Sunday until about 4:00pm, lol.
Won’t be drinking like that again for a long while probably. Back on track and eating lots… week 4 of C/P in a couple days and it’s gonna be heavy. 550+90chain x 2 is planned.
