Every day is steak day.
Or oughta be.
Whatever 91 is, good for you. I also want to say congrats on your post cancer PR. Good deal!
That was a lot of work. Well done.
You have been out a day or two bud, you doing OK?
Thanks for checking. I should have had a squat session this morning. I woke up this morning and my glutes were sore and tight. I thought it would be better to squat on Monday. I spent yesterday working outside, mostly moving and stacking logs.
It got the best of me. I have one of those fitness watches. The app keeps track of calories burned along with several other things. Four times in the last 2yrs I went past 5,000 calories burned in a day. I wanted to some day work it out to go past 6,000 calories. It happened yesterday. At the end of the day the app said I burned over 6,300 calories. Now I will have to shoot for 7,000 calories.
That looks like it was a hell of a workout.
Reminds me of being a teen, cutting out plum wood from our orchards. Good job! Edit: Being teens of course we never came close to cutting that much wood. My brother and I usually ended up throwing dirt clods at each other.
I would be in trouble if I had to do that work for a living. I’ll be able to get in a couple more workouts when it comes time to splitting those logs.
That’s next on my to do list.
What type of cancer do you have?Is the cancer consider successfully treated?Sorry that you have to go through so much pain and suffering especially the treatment of cancer which I heard is extremely painful to deal with, like vomiting nausea and other side effect.Really good that you share story here, there are many advance powerlifter in this forum maybe they can provide you with some advice and tips.I am a fitness enthusiast and lift very light weight as compare to you, nice to meet you!
It was in the tonsil and lymph node. I’m 2yrs past treatment, so the likelihood of of recurrence is greatly reduced. You wouldn’t think it but the most painful part (by far) was the constipation that came from long use of the pain medications. It’s Ironic. They had me loaded up on so much anti nausea meds , I only got sick twice. Once when I took my morphine on an empty stomach and the other when I had my pulmonary embolism.
Nice to meet you as well. I hope your training goes well.
I am on an extended release morphine for my back, and have been. Two a day, they keep me functional and I follow the rules. I found that good old, sulfured, dried apricots got the job done. I only ate those on Friday afternoon. But I am on a fairly low dose, twice a day. (ER morphine, not apricots). My wife has had cancer and two co-workers have it. I see what they have been through. My wife had to go through fentanyl withdrawal. That was not something I wish on anyone. I am glad you continue to be well and keep lifting.
How long has your wife been cancer free?
Since 2007? She had malignant thyroid cancer that was quite treatable. But the iodine free diet, radiation pill, and hormone therapy made her ill. Then, by sheer chance a nurse felt a lump in her abdomen during a routine check up. (Women’s Clinic) She went in for surgery and she had a tumor in an ovary. It was benign, but on the cusp of malignancy the pathologist said. So two types? Anyway, so pushing 20 years, but she has to go in yearly for screening. Her type of thyroid cancer, if not paid attention to, will sneak back. So far so good though.

Lifting later in the day I debated whether to go 20 miles in one direction and pay a day pass at my old gym with 8 squat racks or go 16 miles in the other direction to my current gym with 2 racks. I made the wrong decision and went to my new gym. I waited 45 minutes to get on a rack. I have never waited so long to get on a rack. I spend more than my fair share of time in the rack. If they are both being used and I even think someone might be waiting, I will communicate with them.
