TGIF!!!
911Girl, I know personally I don’t intend it to be disrespectful of women, and I’m sorry if you or any other woman feels disrespected.
Personally, I’d love to be able to have people look at me as an object.
Seriously. At least for a while.
But mostly I’m sorry if I’ve disrespected anyone.
The T in T-Nation is for Testosterone not Oxygen.
Great stuff, guys!
This is what debate is about. In summary, there are some great ideas:
A Separate “Ask The Women” Forum,(for all the guys wanting the “female perspective” on things), with the Rountable being specifically for training, diet and competition aimed at the Female contributors.
(Might I suggest a female Mod AND try to get some female athletes/competitors to contribute?)
Take the soft-core stuff off the main page.
Anyway…I think they are thoughts at least worthy of consideration…we’ll see…

Miniross-
I like it when things go off topic. I just dont like it when they reveal that some posters are lacking maturity or even anything worth saying.
ex.
Not sure I associate myself with the word “gossip” though! Looks like it should have a winking smilie next to it! But as a qualified astronaut i would probably understand stuff that you cant, or wont- HOMO!.
Who the fuck is Ian King anyway?
Can I do the VD and modify it to contain 10 meals per day?
That’s the type of thing I am on about. Push off topic as much as you like. Post anything in an intelligent manner. Anything clearly lacking in research or thought is what is annoying.

Go into the Powerful Images archives and check out the previous shots. You’ll see plenty of female bodybuilders.
And no, the women in this thread are not, by and large, what the vast majority of men and women, including T-men and T-women, would consider a physical ideal.
And I love Dave Tate, but I don’t want to look like him. I want strength, functionality, and esthetics, as do the vast majority of readers here.
Please read the A-dog titled “I am not a man, I am dynamite” for the definition of T-Nation. It was posted two weeks ago.

Well let me just say that I think you are wrong; really wrong. And it sounds to me like you are basing your “physical ideal” purely on apprearance. This smacks of all show, no go to me. All you have to do is read the forums and see how many readers are trying to improve their PERFORMANCE, not just asking how to develop their rear deltoids to be in balance with their anterior delts, etc. I know that there is definitely a performance standard in my training. I’m always trying to lift heavier, find that edge, pull from that center of strength deep inside of me. For me, I do that through visualization. I imagine myself being able to pull that weight and images of other women or men doing just that helps me to focus and fills me with drive and inspiration.
I also wonder what contributors like Waterbury or Lowry think when they log on to view their articles and find it posted next to some chicklet trying to look like a 15 year old while showing you her underwear. How do you think that affects their credibility. They have personal training businesses and I’m not so sure their potential clients would be very impressed with that.
Then there are those first time visiters. You are trying to sell supplements here, right? What kind of an impression do you think this kind of content makes on the first time visitor. I’ll tell you what, it does not make you look like a hard core bodybuilding site. I think it really undermines what you are trying to do. I realize you are trying to make this a fun site and you are trying to play the edge. But I think you would garner much more respect and probably a whole lot more business if you tried to appeal to all bodybuilders and strength athletes, male and female.
This is basically a mens site, this argument has been going on since it was T-Mag. You’ll notice that you go to buy Farenheit at other sites and they don’t sell it here. If “Powerful Images” bothers you turn it off. If you feel the “need” for a site more towards women go here:
Here is my main problem with the “soft-porn” type stuff…I’m hesitant to recommend this sight to certain people (mainly women who could really use this type of info) because I know that if they see something like that they will be offended and less likely to re-visit the sight. I’m the training director for a large gym with several female trainers under me and while I would love to get them read more T-Mag stuff I’m also hesitant to recommend the site because I’m not sure of the legal ramifications of having one of them being offended that I would recommend a site than prominently ran pics like that. I’ve turned the images off of my personal prefs because I don’t want anyone walking into my office while I’m reading the site and mistaking it for some “porn site”. I’m stuck in the middle of the Bible-Belt right now so that definitely makes the potential problem worse.
I know that they have the problem and T-mag is for Alpha Male types but it’s still a little frustrating that I can’t recommend this site to anyone and everyone because of some half-naked chick displayed on the home page. I vote for taking them off the front page and making a link to the “Powerful Images”. Best of both worlds IMHO. BTW, I’m not averse to porn myself, having made my way to persiankitty.com on occasion ;). I just agree that “soft-porn” images should be a little more discreet.
All due respect:
First, what’s wrong with basing “physical ideals” on appearance? Women do it to men, men do it women, women and men do it to each other, it’s natural.
And I like looking at hot women.
Dammit.
Second, if Waterbury etc didn’t like it, they don’t have to have their articles here. It’s their choice. You don’t have to make it for them, and neither do I.
Third: when I was a first time visitor here, I was a little scared…kinda. There was a little tingle in my gut, like the first time I heard Metallica as an 8th grader that said “this ain’t your father’s oldsmobile!”. I knew I’d found the shit. And I was sucked in. If first timers are scared away or pruded away, that’s their problem, isn’t it?
They sell the supps in other places. People don’t ever have to come here to buy them.
Last: (and again, all due respect)…go start your own site. You can have it laid out exactly as you want, with only the material you approve of.
I don’t understand why people find something that’s working, jump on it, and then try to change it.
That’s never made sense to me, but I see it all the time. I guess it’s some aspect of human nature…?
Peace–

How do I think Lonnie and Chad feel to see their articles posted next to a woman? Uhh, same as they always do, like men. Do you know Chad or Lonnie? Do you really think they get all upset? And do you think the rest of us–many who have gone to school as long as Lonnie or Chad–are somehow less evolved because we like pictures of women?
If I post a picture of a fit, muscular woman or man. we get zero response. When we post a picture of a sexy woman, the hits go up; people post threads about her.
Frankly, I know what boys like.
This is supposed to be a place where men aren’t afraid to be men; where they don’t have to hide behind society’s skirt. I would hope most women who come here would understand that. This is the locker room.
As far as performance, let me reiterate. Yes, we want functional muscle, but muscle is the number one priority. There are names for sites that just cater to function: lonely, bankrupt.
Besides, I’m only posting the eye candy on weekends. Why must everyone on the site be subject to your personal whims?
I’ll continue to post the pictures of fit, muscular women during the week, but they have to be attractive in some way: nice body, nice face, or cute. That’s just the way life is.
Amen, Brother!
TC you fuckin’ rock! It’s nice to see that your not budging on this because I completely agree with you. This site is just like a locker room and I haven’t seen any funtional or performance pictures of men, because they’re just not that motivating in my opinion.

thank you.
I do respect the orginal poster’s idea, but the fact is, this is a website that caters to men. And what man doesn’t want to look at beautiful women?
This is such a funny thread. Gorija basically wants us to stop being men? Dont look at that girl in the skirt as she walks by eh? 99% of the t&a threads are posted in the sex and animal male sextion appropriately. you have a t-vixen section and none of you use it. Start this thread over there and instead of bitching about other parts of the site, (by the way bitching is not very t-vixenly or whatever) and post as many pictures of female powerlifters as you want. When I post pictures of hot girls in little clothing do I go off about how this should be the only thing going on here at T-Nation? Of course not, I read all the sections of this site. The diversity is what makes it great.
And for those of you who are afraid to tell people to visit here because they might get offended. GOOD! those are exactly the type of sheeple we don’t want or need here. If someone gets their panties in a bunch over viewing a girl showing panties they are not meant for T-Nation!
T-peoples are mature individuals who have very little use for societal conditioning. We realize we are sexual beings, we realize that the reason we compete in the first place is to get laid. This is programmed from back in the day. The need to reproduce and pass on our genes motivates ALL behavior. So yes women do play sports to achive status and power and victory. But the reason they seek status, power and victory is because those things are sexually attractive.
Why does everyone seek to change T-Nation? Make it less hardcore, Shit if we weren’t offending people we would be doing a shit job at being a hardcore elite group of people.

I am on Oxygen’s forum but sometimes I like to go elsewhere for a change. I’m not complaining about ‘powerful images’ as I realize that the guys here enjoy their eye candy. Initially, I knew that complaining about it would only provoke an uproar amongst some of you so I’ve simply turned it off and left it at that.
I love the articles & expert discussions given on here. Also the audio interviews that Chris Shugart hosts are awesome in my opinion. If I find a particular thread on here offends me I stay away from it. Plain and simple. I only want to read what you guys (& ladies, especially Christiane) have to offer regarding training & proper nutrition in hopes of learning more. Hope nobody minds that.

Richard Simmons
I think TC pretty effectively countered the argument.
If you don’t like it, turn it off. If you do like it, leave it on.
I don’t think one little photo of a scantily clad girl is that horrible. Especially on a Sat. morn when I read this site staving offa hangover. I find it kind of welcoming.
