Powerful Images of Women

Guys,

Im sorry. If you find these type of women “attractive” you probably have issues with your mother, or are gay.

Female “athletes” that kinda look like men, but are thicker, are not sexy, in my humble opinion. Females that play sports, workout and look like the girls in the sports ill. swimsuit issue are sexy.

I’ve seen monkey’s better looking than these women.
You are missing the point. They are athletes. They don’t do it to look sexy. They are athletes…get it? The point is not to turn you on, but to excell at a given sport. They are athletes who happen to be female. Are you starting to understand? I don’t think NFL offensive guards are sexy either, but I certainly respect the level of athleticism and hard work it has taken them to get where they are.

I remember the subtitle of this site as “Bodybuilding’s Think Tank”, which strikes me as something focused on bodybuilding. Purely how you look. Benching 700 I feel has a lot more to do with strength than how you look. Sure its inspiring, but does anyone wanna have the body powerlifters have (nothing to do with the strength).

Granted I do feel some of women are presented unfairly. I see T&A models, and behemoth heavyweight bodybuilders who are revolting. At the same time this juxtaposition makes it even more intriguing when you see an actual “fitness” model. A girl who still resembles a girl, but is in shape. Correction… Not just in shape, but great shape. Much better than any girls I actually see.

On a side tangent. If you’ve read that ESPN article about sex and the Olympics. In Atlanta, they ordered some absurd number of condoms. Something like 2 condoms per athlete per day. And still managed to run out. Then again this is really not to do with anything, but interesting.

Powerful images are “eye candy”.
if T-Nation posted some westside guys’ pics, you would look at them and see a big guy, but you couldnt see the huge numbers he puts up.

so to reiterate, the powerful images are purely asthetic as far as i can see.

It’s clear that “Powerful Images” isn’t intended to mean “Images of Athletically Powerful People.” It’s intended to mean “Images That Are Visually Stimulating.” And TC has explained (again) his reasoning, and now we know the rotation, AND there’s an offer to post pics sent to him of athletic women by the readership.

Now that we’re all on the same page…

I don’t read every thread, or every post. I have one or two forums de-selected. This site has a wide variety of stimulation to offer, and some of it I choose not to experience. I keep “Powerful Images” selected, however, and some images I spend time looking at, some I scroll past, and get on with the articles.

gojira, thank you for reminding us that women can be awesome athletes. I would love a world where women all strove to make themselves into an ideal based on my personal preferences. I don’t. Sucks to be me, huh?

Vonda Ward - IBA Heavyweight champion. 6’6", 185 lbs. Not only can she kick your ass, but she was quite a college basketball star also. I see her every day at the gym and she is a phenominal physical specimen (and quite a nice person). If you think female weight lifters had gender barriers to overcome, think about what female boxers are faced with.
I LOVE that photo of Vonda! Thank you so much for posting that! Does she have a website? Hmmm… guess I could just do a search… :o)

On Wednesday, I run a picture of a female physique athlete.

I have yet to see one of these. Perhaps our opinions of female physique athlete differ. Or perhaps I miss them. Seems like everytime I log on, the women portrayed here are not what I would call “athletic”. They have been chosen for, shall we say, “other attributes”.

Keep in mind, though, that this site is largely about reaching a physical ideal and frankly, few of the women shown in this thread represent physical ideals.

You’re kidding me, right? So unless they are ripped fitness models they don’t represent a physical ideal? Just what is your definition of a physical ideal? A woman who can bench two and a half times her bodyweight drug free is not a physical ideal? A woman who is a boxing champion is not a physical ideal? Sir, allow me to take you back to all the articles that you have published on this site regarding the development of strength. Can you say Dave Tate? Is he a physical ideal. How many guys on this site would LOVE to be able to put up the numbers he does.

By the same token, I don’t generally post pics of powerlifters–most of who don’t give a damn if they’re ripped or not.

Who cares if they’re ripped. Why are you limiting it to just the ripped bodybuilders. Why not post photos of powerlifters. Don’t you think a photo of a strength athlete going balls out would make for an inspirational powerful image?
Go into the Powerful Images archives and check out the previous shots. You’ll see plenty of female bodybuilders.

And no, the women in this thread are not, by and large, what the vast majority of men and women, including T-men and T-women, would consider a physical ideal.

And I love Dave Tate, but I don’t want to look like him. I want strength, functionality, and esthetics, as do the vast majority of readers here.

Please read the A-dog titled “I am not a man, I am dynamite” for the definition of T-Nation. It was posted two weeks ago.

maryse turcotte is so fine

Great discussion!

But I guess we will have to agree to disagree…

I still feel that looking for some “ideal” where one separates athletics from sexuality is extremely difficult if not impossible…either you have the purity of thought of a Saint…or you are being disinginuous…

And to think that Testosteone-laden men…especially YOUNG men… are going to have that type of “purity” of thought is an even FURTHUR stretch…

Also…the images that have been posted in this site do not even come CLOSE to those on the average porn site…

Now…one could argue "Does this Website need to cater to that “common denominator?”

Well…my answer would be “they don’t…” really…in that a few (albeit “powerful” images) are only a fraction of the total content of this site…and they are images that can be turned off with the click of a mouse…

(By the way, gojira…I’m not the type of person that goes around thinking that I’m always right…I am ALWAYS open to learning and to change. I hope that you will keep this debate going. As we debate, we learn…)

Maura is the babe here. The rest are not that pleasing to the eyes at all!

I have to agree with Gojira and will not try to reiterate what she has already said so well. I found this image irritating - sure she’s pretty, but why does her skirt have to be lifted up like that? It’s basically soft porn and not what I thought this site was about… If it’s “eye-candy day”, make it a T-vixen, not a sex-kitten. I have this woman’s picture on my dresser for motivation. I don’t know who she is, but she rocks!

PS - As a side note, why does the T-Vixen Sorority Roundtable have more discussions about cunnilingus than training and nutrition for women?..

I agree with you also about the girl with the skirt lifted up. So I switched my ‘powerful images’ off.

Great pics you posted! I’ve got quite a few around my place for motivation, could always use more though! :o)

“…Why does the T-Vixen Sorority Roundtable have more discussions about cunnilingus than training and nutrition for women?..”

VERY valid point, jillybop…the most LIKELY answer is because it is mostly dominated by men…

The key to a successful Female Forum is to have more actual female competitors (both Pro and Amateur) posting and moderating…maybe it’s something the guys can look into…

Faye,

A picture of you would motivate me!

TC, please keep doing what you’re doing. I recognize the patern, and I don’t have to look at the ones I don’t like.

My hope is that TC and the gang are always REEVALUATING what they do…

This is not a Male Dominated Theocracy…the more women involved in the site, the better it will ultimately be…

A few things:

On the T-Vixen forum- why not create a separate thread “ask the vixens” or whatever? Then only allow training and diet etc. on the main board. I know this site is aimed at men (99% of it), but that should not excuse the fact that some of the time the forums degenerate into the old “fuck you” “yeah?, well fuck you!” comments.

Being a t-man can be funny and is always a good thing…but being a t-man (IMHO) should require that your intelligence shines through behind whatever rubbish you are banging on about. So I can see why women get frustrated. Sometimes you read questions, posts, opinions etc. and you think “why doesnt this guy grow up?”.

Quadethefinest “Waterbury” thread is a classic example. I know that the thread was allowed to continue and everyone could have their say etc. etc. but really, T-Nation is too good for that type of idiot. He should have been banned. Forced to take another screen name decided by the mods (so they could keep an eye on his posts) unknown to everyone else so that he wasnt forever banned from contributing.

Even having the same gutter mind as some of the men of here, I am sure everyone has looked into the forum and thought “oh dear”.

There is a good amount of filtering of sexual topics into their relevant forums at the moment but I do think that sometimes the forums can degenerate into frankly, useless time-wasting.

I am probably as guilty as anyone else but really, how often do you look at a question and just think “man, am i tired of this shit!” Some idiot asks if eating green beans will make him fly to the moon when doing frat curls. Someone else takes offence to the use of the word “moon”. Honestly guys- lets make an effort to raise the bar. There are some amazingly intelligent people on these boards and they are being wasted.

Lets “celebrate” for want of a better word, being men. But remember that being a T-Man should mean recognising, and enjoying life based on the essence of being a male, not being blindly led by rutting and aggressive instincts into behaving like idiots.

Sorry to have gone off-topic but the immaturity some people display- and the ignorance (i am guilty of it in the past) is shocking.

Anyway- back to women and powerful images.

I half agree with gojira et al. A woman pushing up serious weight is inspiring but to tell you the truth, a woman pushing up 100 kilos or whatever isnt…i know ill probably get flamed for that but any post that inspires the reaction “thats amazing…for a woman” really lets the picture down. I am not saying that all the pics fall into that catagory, just some.

Also, all of the above pics of women are not sexy. A couple are ok…mainly where the girls are heavily made up and wearing tight jeans etc. Most of them just look a bit mannish im afraid.

My only beef with the girls with their skirts up etc. is that they are a bit boring,a bit vanilla for T-Nation. But then again, when I personally think the girls are pretty I love the pics! I know- im a hypocrite.

Overall what I would like is women athletes/fitness models or whatever who are genuinely feminine. Not too much silicon, no “angular” faces, no amazingly flat chests because frankly- its a turn off.

How about some swimmers, or female martial artists? I have no problem with dumping the soft-core porn for female athlete pics. But i gotta tell ya that I still want them curvy and hot. Sorry G! I can appreciate some of the pics you posted but I dont want to bang any of the girls and that really seems to be the point of the female pics in Powerful Images.

Hope I haven’t rained on too many parades with this post but lets be honest I wanna look good nekid, and unless the image is done for the shock factor (or to “elicit dialogue”- gotta love that euphemism TC!) I want girls who look good nekid. Of course I want them to be athletic/strong etc. But at the end of the day I want both heads to appreciate it if you know what I mean.

Which obviously you do.

Jaime

Obviously, being guys involes thinking about sex. A study somewhere said something along the lines of every 7-12 sexconds (my new word).

I turned off the powerful images when I first logged on. I access this site while a work most of the time. I have to be aware what may offend or otherwise get me written up. This brings up a mention, if you are linking pics if you could mention that they aren’t clothed pics, that’d be nice. Otherwise, at this point, I don’t click links to anywhere about anything.

For the most part, if T-Nation wants to appeal to a female audience then the soft porn needs to probably go somewhere other than the home page. It sends a first impression that your opinion of females is purely sexual in nature. And we all know about first impressions.

I agree about the Ask the T-Vixens or some such area where all the 'Dear Abby’s" can go. Being a member of a few male dominated sites they all have stuff like the Powerful Images, but they hide it under a specific topic in the forum and often most of it is much more raunchy.

I pretty much accept it as a part of the brotherhood of man. Yes I find it disrespectful of women, but until we rule the world and someday we shall, that’s the way it is. It’s like trying to convince people not to use gasoline, they know it’s bad for the environment, yet they just keep doing it.

being guys we talk aimless bu11sh1t and endlessly witter on about really pointless and wholly very evry very very…

…very very interesting stuff.

its our chance to gossip.

its jus the way it is, and three cheers for forums like this that allow it accross the globe.

if you dont want to add, then dont. i think you are right in saying that these do degenerate (like now) off the topic, but thats how things go.

it is our nature.

right then, any comments on the superbowl…whoops.
