Powerful Images of Women

Wow, I had to read through this a while to get up to speed on the topic, but boy what a doozie!
NUMBER 1 Those images are not soft core porn. They don’t even show and titties, let alone a sneak peak at a clam shot. I have seen more provocative stuff in my neices 17 magazine than the image of the hottie lifting her skirt.(and the reason I skim her mags is to make sure that the content is age apropriate.)

Number 2 If women want to be respected and treated as equals- don’t show the boobies. Men may want to see it, but it’s the women who show it.If you want us to see athleticism, thats what you should show us. I hate it when women go off on men for objectifying women when women should be going off on other women for objectifying themselves.

Number 3 This is T-nation. Our club house, our locker room. If you dont want to see a bunch of guys engaged in a major league pipe swingin contest, don’t come in. And if you do, Oh well, looks like you don’t have a pipe to swing.Don’t be mad, you knew that when you came in.

Number 5 Lets not compare apples to zebras. Training articles are training articles. The only thing that detracts from the quality of them is their content, and I have yet to see that happen. Pictures of women are pictures of women. Do you see the difference now?

It’s hard to imagine this topic even comming up given the name of the site, but apparently it has. It seems strange that people who identify themselves as HARDCORE want to whittle away at this site so that it fits their definition of hardcore. The origional reason I was attracted to this site was because of the real Hardcore attitude and approach that I identified with.

I’m all for porn stars!!

Gojira,

Deep down inside, do you hate men? Or do you hate what they really think about 50+ times/day (yes, sex)? Do you wish you could change all men to not think of women in sexual ways if you had that power? Because it sounds like the answers to those questions are yes, yes, and yes. Reality check, you’re not going to change every male on this board to think like you, we like looking at scantily clad women, and may I remind you that this site is called testosterone. Get over this issue and over yourself. That is all.

Not sure I associate myself with the word “gossip” though! Looks like it should have a winking smilie next to it! But as a qualified astronaut i would probably understand stuff that you cant, or wont- HOMO!.

Who the fuck is Ian King anyway?

Can I do the VD and modify it to contain 10 meals per day?

Hey vixens, how can i get my woman to orgasm? By the way…should i be wearing these cotton blend chinos? Also, if I make her orgasm will she expect me to propose?

That’s the type of thing I am on about. Push off topic as much as you like. Post anything in an intelligent manner. Anything clearly lacking in research or thought is what is annoying.
I regret that i lack the e speak for irony.

Well let me just say that I think you are wrong; really wrong. And it sounds to me like you are basing your “physical ideal” purely on apprearance. This smacks of all show, no go to me. All you have to do is read the forums and see how many readers are trying to improve their PERFORMANCE, not just asking how to develop their rear deltoids to be in balance with their anterior delts, etc. I know that there is definitely a performance standard in my training. I’m always trying to lift heavier, find that edge, pull from that center of strength deep inside of me. For me, I do that through visualization. I imagine myself being able to pull that weight and images of other women or men doing just that helps me to focus and fills me with drive and inspiration.
I also wonder what contributors like Waterbury or Lowry think when they log on to view their articles and find it posted next to some chicklet trying to look like a 15 year old while showing you her underwear. How do you think that affects their credibility. They have personal training businesses and I’m not so sure their potential clients would be very impressed with that.
Then there are those first time visiters. You are trying to sell supplements here, right? What kind of an impression do you think this kind of content makes on the first time visitor. I’ll tell you what, it does not make you look like a hard core bodybuilding site. I think it really undermines what you are trying to do. I realize you are trying to make this a fun site and you are trying to play the edge. But I think you would garner much more respect and probably a whole lot more business if you tried to appeal to all bodybuilders and strength athletes, male and female.

How do I think Lonnie and Chad feel to see their articles posted next to a woman? Uhh, same as they always do, like men. Do you know Chad or Lonnie? Do you really think they get all upset? And do you think the rest of us–many who have gone to school as long as Lonnie or Chad–are somehow less evolved because we like pictures of women?

If I post a picture of a fit, muscular woman or man. we get zero response. When we post a picture of a sexy woman, the hits go up; people post threads about her.

Frankly, I know what boys like.

This is supposed to be a place where men aren’t afraid to be men; where they don’t have to hide behind society’s skirt. I would hope most women who come here would understand that. This is the locker room.

As far as performance, let me reiterate. Yes, we want functional muscle, but muscle is the number one priority. There are names for sites that just cater to function: lonely, bankrupt.

Besides, I’m only posting the eye candy on weekends. Why must everyone on the site be subject to your personal whims?

I’ll continue to post the pictures of fit, muscular women during the week, but they have to be attractive in some way: nice body, nice face, or cute. That’s just the way life is.
If i had the foresight and resources to set up such a venture as this, and i had invested the money, i would certainly agree that this would be my place, my rules.

hear hear.

randman: Gojira has been subtly and not-so-subtly man-bashing on these forums for quite a while. You won’t talk any sense into her.

While I’m not sure I agree with what randman said in terms of G’s stance on men. It has been shown MANY times that the overall tone of this board isn’t going to change. That’s why I like it here.

Do I recommend this site to anyone who is serious about lifting/diet/ supplementation? Yes. Do I worry about the picture of a girl in a bikini? No. It’s the internet!!! Would you be worried to tell somebody to watch a program on TV because they might run an ad for Girls Gone Wild? I hope not. But let’s say you’re particularly anal. What can you do?

 1. Well you can change the channel. Or in this case you can actually shut the Powerful Image off! Doesn’t get any more simple than that. So 1-2 days a week when you log on to T-mag you don’t get a Powerful Image.

 2. Don’t come here at all. The fact that one stupid little picture can/has spawned so much wasted text baffles me. BTW I know about wasted text;-) It clearly illustrates peoples overbearing personalities and them wanting to impose their own will on something somebody else took their time/thoughts/effort to create. Now where I’m from THAT is insulting.

On a side note I’d like to say that while my name wasn’t mentioned here I’m fairly certain that I’d fall into the “gutter mind” category. That being said, I’d like to point out that these “Softcore” porn pictures are viewed for less than a minute in most cases. And unless I was from England or something, they aren’t going to do anything for me. I like my porn filthy like all men. Speaking of which it’s almost time for my slap-nap so I’m going to end with this; I love the idea of people educating themselves on how to build a better body and improve their quality of life. This site’s very helpful in that capacity. It also let’s me joke around and say crude and disgusting things with anonnymity (sp?). So option 1 still applies for all of you who who are interested but don’t like EVERY-SINGLE-THING about this site.

Wideguy

Miniross…I mean this in the nicest, truly innocent way…was your 1st reply supposed to be funny?

If so it went over my head!

If we’re honest though, it probably says more about me than you…
Vegita wrote:
This is such a funny thread. Gorija basically wants us to stop being men? Dont look at that girl in the skirt as she walks by eh? 99% of the t&a threads are posted in the sex and animal male sextion appropriately. you have a t-vixen section and none of you use it. Start this thread over there and instead of bitching about other parts of the site, (by the way bitching is not very t-vixenly or whatever) and post as many pictures of female powerlifters as you want. When I post pictures of hot girls in little clothing do I go off about how this should be the only thing going on here at T-Nation? Of course not, I read all the sections of this site. The diversity is what makes it great.

And for those of you who are afraid to tell people to visit here because they might get offended. GOOD! those are exactly the type of sheeple we don’t want or need here. If someone gets their panties in a bunch over viewing a girl showing panties they are not meant for T-Nation!

T-peoples are mature individuals who have very little use for societal conditioning. We realize we are sexual beings, we realize that the reason we compete in the first place is to get laid. This is programmed from back in the day. The need to reproduce and pass on our genes motivates ALL behavior. So yes women do play sports to achive status and power and victory. But the reason they seek status, power and victory is because those things are sexually attractive.

Why does everyone seek to change T-Nation? Make it less hardcore, Shit if we weren’t offending people we would be doing a shit job at being a hardcore elite group of people.
I wasn’t going to jump in here until I read this. This is what pisses me off the most. And this isn’t directed specifically at Vegita, but you are the one that posted it. If you simply lift weights just to get laid then that is sad. Lift weights for yourself, whether you are a bodybuilder and want to get as huge as possible and win contests, a powerlifter or Olympic lifter who wants to be strong as hell and set records, any other kind of athlete wanting to improve performance, or just somebody that wants a change in their life.

But that isn’t what really pisses me off. It is some (not all) of those “weightlifting gets me laid” people that think they are “hardcore” because they go to the gym 3-4+ days a week and visit a bodybuilding site everyday. Then they think that gives them some right to bust on somebody else in the gym. When I ask somebody what weightlifting means to them (basic training partner interview question) and they say “Its what gets me laid”, that is the most pathetic answer somebody could have given me. Okay, I realize I need to save this rant for another day and not in this thread.

So that my post will have some relevance to this thread. I think it would be great to see more pictures of strongmen and women in competition, powerlifters lifting big weights, Highland games competitiors. Are they what motivate me, no, but while the soft porn is fun to look at that is not motivating either. I can look at much dirtier porn on the internet whenever I want to, or if I have the right girlfriend. The strongmen and women pictures would be cool to look at though. I am the only one that motivates me.

Nice post frog. However what do you think the whole “Look good naked” thing is here? I’m pretty sure it’s not so I can stare at myself for an extra 1/2 hour after I get out the shower…although it is hard not to.LOL. Seriously though, T&A doesn’t really do it for me like the idea that I’m fortunate enough to be given this body that can take soo much abuse and in return give me soo much gratification. Generally I like my t&a after I lift.

Actually my coments weren’t meant to be taken as “lifting to get laid” but rather “anything you do to get laid” . I.E get smart, get a good job, get a nice house and car, get power, all for what reason? To be the most attractive mate that you can be. The pure aspect to compete comes from our nature as sexual beings. We have sex to make babies. We choose partners subconsiously that we KNOW will bear the best offspring. These partners are the best at what they do or at least good at what they do, be it sports, business, intellect, etc. The fact that these girly girls in mini skirts can get laid anytime they want with 99% of the men in the world makes them extremely powerful in that sense. These women drive our freaking economy, these women sell our cars, they sell your shampoo, they sell mens razors. Ever notice what kind of girls are rubbing the guys faces in a razor commercial? Thats right it’s the 20 something hotties. While strongwomen my be physically more powerful, as we all should know, physical power is not the only type of power. I think Gorija doesn’t like these images because she thinks it somehow takes power away from women, how wrong she is.

I have a theory. That theory states that there are two kinds of people: Those who recognize the differences between the sexes and actually APPRECIATE those differences; and those who try to deny that which is obviously true. I find it interesting and sad that Gojira and friends are shocked and upset about these images. What about them is so upsetting?

 1. That men enjoy looking at attractive women?
 2. That the women shown aren’t always athletic looking?

I imagine that readers of this site do so for a variety of reasons: Lose fat, gain muscle, get stronger, performance enhancement, look good naked, or the vibrant political discussions. Who is to say which motive is superior? One of the great things about this site is that it is comprehensive enough to have a wide appeal to people with greatly varying goals, to include: hardcore powerlifters (male and female), regular guys looking to shed a few pounds, and maybe, just maybe, some “cheesecake, sex kittens” trying to look their best.

The point is the people that say they lift to get laid are not saying much for their personality. I just wanted to make the point that alot of the “lift to get laid people” try to portray themselves as some kind of “hardcore” lifter because they go to the gym. I am not saying this happens on this site only. And it is really only a few people that I can think of at this time on this site. It happens everywhere and you can see it in most of your commercial gyms. Vegitas statement, which I will say again was not directed at him specifically, set me off into a rant.

I am only saying that there are many ways you can enhance your potential to get laid. Weightlifting is one thing each person can make their own. They can do whatever they want with it in order to reach their goal. It just seems to me, and maybe I am alone on this one, the “lift to get laid” people try to trivialize what weightlifting means to those of us who lift because they love it. Again, Vegita, my comments were not specifically directed at you. You happened to write it and it put me in that rant zone.

when I read this I had the image of the psycho from Silence of the Lambs pop into my head…while (s)he was putting on makeup, looking in the mirror saying “I’d fuck me” over and over…

Although, toward the end of the month of V-Diet it was hard not to stare just to take in the differences, so who am I to talk???
LOL.

Yes,

I was attempting to be ironic.

can you be ironic about being ironic?

And no, generally i find me funny and not many others do.!

Women have on the whole been sold on a romantic ideal.

The concept that men look at other women may be aginst the “only you” doctrine.

My missus caught me looking at porn (left on windows player).

She took that as an insult to her, and i understand that.

but i would have done that regardless. befroe relationship/after relationship, 16 or 116 years old.

Now i had better clear the cookie history, shes coming down the road:)

You are missing the point. They are athletes. They don’t do it to look sexy. They are athletes…get it? The point is not to turn you on, but to excell at a given sport. They are athletes who happen to be female. Are you starting to understand? I don’t think NFL offensive guards are sexy either, but I certainly respect the level of athleticism and hard work it has taken them to get where they are.
Yes, but who wants to look at pictures of big, chubby NFL offensive linemen with crack-sweat?

The articles are for info on power-lifting, bodybuilding and whatnot. The powerful images are pictures posted for their visual impact – as TC said, some for positive, and some for negative. The picture is for aesthetics, not for politics. Not everything has to be a political statement…

That stuff is not soft core porn!It doesn’t even show nipples.

An idea derived from Vegita and Frogs banter- Have big muscular women shaving in those commercials. That should be the perfect synthesis needed to sell razors to everyone without offending anyone, except of course the folicularly challenged who can’t shave, and feel left out.

Which is why all TV razor commercials should be removed! I can’t stand it! And I’m sure as hell not going to change the channel myself…
