That thing about the plank…hypocrites, etc…in Matthew 7:5 just won’t sink in with these guys.

Both of the scriptures that you mention speak to FIRST removing that very same sin from YOUR own life, BEFORE you correct a brother Christian.

No one and I mean no one (me included) likes to be corrected about anything. BUT…when I fall (not if) it’s nice to know that there will be a brother Christian there to alert me to this fact which is of great help.

Stop taking scripture out of context.

Thank you.

Read and think about the text found in
Matthew 6: 1-8.

You are getting a lot of attention that I’m sure makes you feel important in your own eyes. At the same time I’d be interested to know if anyone has contacted you about how they might give their hearts to Christ based on your behavior in this forum.

Those verses seem out of context with this thread. Please explain your thoughts. Also, please answer my previous post.

Yes mr. self proclaimed most high.
I am a Christian. I do not think you have a clue in regard to winning people to Christ. Satan can and will use people just like you to drive away those who might have a real desire to
understand and accept God’s grace and love. If you wish to be a Christian role model you have a terribly long way to go.

DPH - please answer a couple questions so we understand where you are coming from:

not that it’s any of your business…

but…

  1. Are you a Christian?

yes…I’ve said so in other threads too…

  1. Do you know your Bible (i.e., do you read and study it)?

I’ve read the NIV Bible from cover to cover…but make no claim to be any sort of an expert, far form it in fact…

  1. Do you attend a church or othewise associate with other Christians? If yes, please elaborate?

I am non-denominational…but I do associate with other Christians…

P.S. I don’t need your stamp of approval to consider myself a Christian…as to whether I am to be saved or not…that’s between me and my maker…[/quote]

Why are you so defensive about your salvation?

Let me guess…

That would involve a path where he would look at his own life without pity or mercy and where he would challenge his own demons, not if he encounters them in others, but within his own soul…

How close am I, being an atheist and whateverelse…

Very close indeed.
My faith (and salvation) is due to being led in that direction by someone who understood the basic principles of witnessing.

Not exactly, but kind of like having a good boss or mentor early in my career.

I never proclaimed to be anything. You have taken verses out of context and proved no point. And, now you are name-calling. Why?

What I intended with this thread was to show the power that comes from Christ.

The athiests quickly turned it into a hate-Christianity thread.

Now, I am chastising someone who claims to be a Christian but has no evidence in his life.

Maybe you should read the verses in the Bible that deal with Jesus chastising the Pharisees. Matthew 23:13 would be very appropriate. In fact listening to you reminds me very much of Matthew 9:34.

“But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.”

Listen Gorilla - if your motives are to save souls, professing a watered-down version of the Gospel and associating with those who do the same isn’t going to do it.

I don’t think intimidation will work for me. I’d much rather just let them know that God loves them and is willing to accept them as they are.

I’m not talking about small view-points. I’m talking about the fundementals of Christianity. You need to examine yourself and see where you fit. Read these steps:

  1. Have you accepted Jesus Christ and Him alone as your path to heaven? If you added to this or taken away from this, you have not.

  2. If you have accepted Jesus (and read the NIV from cover to cover), your life should change remarkably. There will be ups and downs, but the trend should be upward. This should be evident in your speech, associations, and attitude.

  3. If you have accepted Jesus but have not noticed any change in your life (i.e., you still enjoy cursing, drinking, promiscuity, or immoral, impure behaviour), then you may need to revisit step #1.

When you accept Christ, he comes to live in you (you’ve read your Bible, right…you know this). When you do things that are immoral, you grieve. Why? Because Christ in you is grieving.

2 Corinthians 5:17

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

E.g. - If you’ve had no change, you have not experienced the power of Christ. Without Christ is to be without Christianity.

I don’t think I’m ever going to be in a position to judge others in regard to this topic. Again, I’m talking about salvation and faith in God’s grace. Not man made laws. I simply don’t know for sure if someone is headed for hell. I may not approve of something or even like someone for various reasons but, man…I’d be afraid to tell someone they are going to hell when the simple fact is I have no way of knowing what God has planned for them.

I can think of a lot of reasons to invite someone to worship with me other than telling them they are headed straight to hell for eternity if they don’t turn their nasty little lives around. God knows a lot more about their lives than I ever will and can, and has, placed me in situations I thought he could use me for some reason.
I’d prefer to let him use me as he sees fit. Not the other way around.

Ivan,

You have figured out I was mocking you, right?

Deluded lost fool.

Let me ask you something. Did Jesus ask his apostles to kiss his ass all day long every day? Did he refuse to consert with them because they were mere mortals and not worthy of his time?

The fact that I am very relaxed about these issues says nothing of my beliefs. So, I wonder, what is the accepted Christian viewpoint on spreading mistruths?

To be clear, in your case, picking a viewpoint for other people, and then telling everyone what other people think, when you don’t actually know.

I am pretty confident, that Christ, being a man, eating and drinking with his friends, also had to relieve himself, wash himself and otherwise be human. There is no point in denying these aspects of his existence.

There is no point in denying ourselves these aspects of our own existence. So, given that we were made in his image, I’m guessing that bowel movements are a fair discussion topic.

Sorry you don’t like that.

Ivan, cool, by this evidence I have Christ in me. I routinely feel bad for things I have done in the past…

I’m doing the happy dance because apparently it doesn’t require being an arrogant sanctimonious ass who goes around looking down his nose at everyone.

I’m sorry that you see me as superior to you. Like I’ve said before, I’m no more or less special than you are.

Was Jesus out of line when He threw the money changes and frauds from the temple? Am I out of line to do the same thing?

All the people in this thread that call themselves Christians yet are offended when I mention issues of morality should really take inventory of themselves.

Why do issues of morality and decency offend you so?

I suspect what Jesus does to those in his own house is a bit different than what you should do in another man’s house.

Again, you compare yourself to Jesus, in order to justify your actions.

You are lost.
