Power Lifting Gear Q's

I agree with matt, it really just boils down to personal preference. at the end of the day its all the same shit for the most part: a few pieces of polyester stitched together. Some companies use slightly better fabric and stitching and others don’t. the designs of the shirts and suits at this point are all pretty similar to one another. Angled sleeved for an arch and tuck, straight sleeve for high and elbows out. Flared legs for a wide stance, or without for a regular stance.

Each company offers the same options. just pick one. titan makes a good product, their vendors are pretty quick and easy to order from and their prices are reasonable. inzer has good stuff too and has good customer service. metal gear gets a lot of publicity and has a good reputation though they are bit more expensive and tend to stretch a bit too easily in my opinion. the you have lesser known companies like crains and frantz. don’t overthink it. your first suit/shirt wont be your last, trust me…[/quote]

Cool, i had a sneaking suspition this was the way things really were…

Update to all- I am going to try the one member of my club that lifts geared Bench shirt in the next week or two. Its a Titan Fury, he likes it soooo we’ll see! I’ll keep everyone updated! Thanks so much again for all the great advice from everyone!

Hey all,

So my freind with the Fury won’t be available for a few more weeks. We’re at the end of our quarter here at school (we’re on 'trimesters/quarters) so things are hecktic for most people.

I Have another question, rather one that didn’t really get answered fro mbefore, must ahve just gotten lost in the wash… Regarding bench shirts, sleeve angle and bench style. My personal style is not anextreme elbow tuck, or flared out super wide (untill off the chest)

In the MEtal description for their x-type (sleeves 90 degrees from the front, like a fury) it says for those wit han extreme elbow tuck and strong lockout. So this being said, I am still going to try my freinds Fury when I get a chance, but would anyone say this may be a bad idea in the long run, going with a shirt that is not really cut for my style of benching? thanks in advance.

Do you really think Emilio’s shirt is going to fit you? He has at least 30lbs on you and is like a foot shorter.

This is a good point, but who else do you know with a shirt that is near my size? Joe is liiterally a foot shorter and well… you know we’re far fro mthe same size…

I just really wish there was a website that sold ALL brands of gear and call them… as this thread has kinda established, everyone has their preference and brand loyalties. Right now i am less concerned about brand and more interested in which cut will work for me best before I spend $100+ on a shirt…

I think the bottom line is that you are going to need to change your form slightly no matter what shirt you get. I have heard that the inzer rage has more of a raw bench groove, but I don’t know anything about the others.

Has anyone tired the METAL v-type king yet? I was wondering how that compared to the Centurion wide stance suit.

The centurion not being a good DL suit is kind of putting me off the suit. I could do max effort sumo pulls in my METAL v-type viking w/o a hitch, literally.

if you have never used one before, the learning curve on an angled sleeve shirt is much higher than with a straight sleeve. buy a fury. its good shirt, quick to master, not to expensive. angled sleeves require a lot more technique to get the most out of them

OK, this is good information… and if it really doesn’t work out… I can always (hopefully) return it and try something else… Thank you for your input.

Some…and I mean SOME will let you return a shirt, others will not, so ask beforehand if your not sure its the shirt for you. Alot of retailers won’t accept a used shirt, because well…its used and not as stiff as it was, the seams could be damaged etc.

I think about it from time to time, but I am happy lifting raw for time being. The reality of it is that when and if i start using gear i want someone with experence to be there to help me out. We don’t have anyone that I know of at our gym. Emilio doesn’t have as much knowledge as I am looking for.

i will keep this in mind, I usually do check return and exchange policies on high ticket items. Good sound advice as usual, thank you!

I’ll take the plunge and play around so you don’t have to! then I’ll halp you! If there is one thing i’m good at, its throwing myself 100% into something till I know everything about it (or as much as I can possibly retain/afford), might not be the best at “x” but I like to know my shit.

Update, Even though i probably wont get to try a shirt for a while, if ever (due to size differences), I am 99.9% going to get a Titan Fury due to the overwhelming advocation for it. The majority of people can’t be wrong… right?

HA! nice one! Again, thanks for your help, Hanley; in depth, honest, no bull shit advice. Thanks!

HEY GUYS! I’ve been spending the majority of my time “supplements and Nutrition” on my v-diet log… BUT i wanted to update y’all who helped in this thread. I decided to go with Titan Fury for shirt and Centurion for squat suit. Why? well both where highly recommended, the price is right and my friend in my club actually trains with Garage Ink when he’s home and he said, just call Niko, and he’ll get me set up.

I always go by a referral, ya know? As for DL suit, if I get one I’d get it later, maybe late summer early fall and most likely go with the new Metal King conventional DL. And remember I already own Metal All black wrist and knee wraps.

Thank you again to all those who helped make this a very informative thread for not just me but everyone.

Glad to hear you’re sorted. Make sure you keep us updated!!

Sure thing! i didn’t even know that this thread got 5 stars! I hope this thread helps and has helped others.
