I’m looking for advice on weak spots of my front upper. Do I have potential to win a small comp if I packed on some mass? I’m asking because I feel like my waist is simply too wide, but I’m hoping with some back width I can make up for my larger waist. I’m 5’7 and only 150 in the pic, but I could easily pack on 20 lbs of muscle over the next eight months if I decided to try for a competition in just over a year.
You need to eat and lift, resurrect this thread in 8 months once you’ve added 20 lbs and you’ll score a point higher. But seriously, you really don’t have weak spots because you don’t have anything yet. Lift, eat, sleep and read.
Suggestions would include the sticky at the top of this subforum: Forums - T Nation - The World's Trusted Community for Elite Fitness
And the beginners subforum
repost in 8 months, until then good luck
and if you really wan to compete you know what to do

Potential to win a comp? sure, as long as you’re the only one on stage.
OP, make sure you use plenty of these when you’re packing all that mass. You’ll need them.
It’s hard to say what you could accomplish. You look like everyone who has just started so… Work hard and repost. Give ya 2 for now.
Weird, you have pretty much the same torso as my workout buddy, I gave a double take when I saw the pic. Easy to see the similarity since it is a very distinct body composition. Judging by his experience (hes about 190 lbs at 6’2), its easy for him to grow a big chest and well defined abs but the width of his hips makes it very difficult for him to have much of a V shape. Course just because you look like another person who happens to work out, doesnt really matter in terms of your potential. Just lift and eat alot.
Your question is impossible to answer without knowing how hard your willing to push yourself.
Obviously your waist looks wide, your torso is severely lacking. I don’t have the narrowest hip bones either, but when you get yourself up over 200 lbs fairly lean, and then diet down to 180, I highly doubt your waist will look bad.
