Carb-wise, I’m currently taking (47g/90g, Off/On), with a 2-3 hour carb-load every 2 weeks or so. [/quote]
Mate, I ate like that for a few months last year and my ketostix were turning puuuurple! It sounds like you’re getting more protein than I was (I was getting 60% calories from fats) but you might be going into ketosis without realizing.
I sometimes get incredibly pissed off/miserable towards the end of a longish training session when my nutrition isn’t on par. Is always solved by eating carbs as soon as I get home. I even sometimes passed out before I got my carbs in, despite a shitton of stims in my system. So lack of carbs could certainly be an issue.
Brutal high intensity training doesn’t leave me depressed but rather completely exhausted/tired.
I wasn’t in keto… when I was 30/45, I entered keto for about a week before upping the carbs, which I’ve been doing consistently since. I stopped increasing as I started to gain weight, which is where I ran into problems w/ mood.
I did give myself a refeed, a small carb increase of 6 percent daily, and even traded about 5g protein for an extra 5g carbs. It has helped, though the mood does tend to creep back a couple hours post workout now. I’m also eating more veggies now (as an aside, does anyone else’s gums get sore when they’re lacking in the veggies?), so that may be helping as well.
It could be that I need more, but I hate to do anything too drastic. Nutritionally, I’m in a good place aside from the mood: smaller waist, bigger chest and legs. So, I’ll keep w/ the small increases weekly, w/ a refeed every 1.5 - 2 weeks.
So it’s been about a month, and I think it was def. the carbs. I seem to be fine PWO, now, but I still get a little blue toward the end of my off days, when I limit my carbs to a couple pieces of fruit.
Though, I also decreased my volume a bit, so I may just not be grinding myself into the ground so much. Of course, increase in carbs + decrease in volume = weight gain, which I’m trying to control.
