What, exactly, is ironic about my post?

Heh, well I do think its funny that you made a post about how nothing is accomplished or solved in these discusions, and it didn’t accomplish or solve or address anything in the thread…then said it was a waist. So you waisted time by posting it, and now I’m wasting time by posting about someone else posting about it. what a vicious cycle
Touche…although, I would argue that waisting our time discussing the inrony of my statement, and whether or not it was itself a waist of time, is probably less of a waist of time than the thread would have been had I not waisted my time posting it in the first place…so, technically, my post wasn’t a waist of time because it served a duel purpose: it pointed out what a waist of time such discussions are and, apparently, reduced the overall waistfulness of the thread!

Nah. It is self-righteous, sanctimonius, pompous, smug and not in keeping with the spirit of God to state that Christianity is the only legitimate religion. Further, it’s a position than many Christian leaders have rejected. It is wrong to condemn Christianty and Christians simply because you don’t share their beliefs. There are many wonderful things in and of Christianity. Chrisitanity is great. Evangelicism and this ‘Jesus is the only path to salvation’ attitude is not, and it’s not wrong to condemn that.

We could debate all day long as to the veracity of the bible. We could sit here and correctly say that many who call themselves “Christian” are arrogant, smug and self-righteous. It is also accurate to say that religion shouldn’t be shoved down peoples throats. But…

IF you believe that the bible is revelation from God and accurate, and IF you desire follow what it says, part of that includes sharing your faith. Both Christ himself and the apostles made the claim that salvation through Christ is the only way.
John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Acts 4:10-12 “Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

I didn’t make up the “rules”. I believe the bible, and the bible clearly states that Christ is the only way. Any “leader” who states otherwise does not follow the Christ of the bible, and it causes me to wonder why they operate under its auspices at all. You can’t just pick and choose the parts you like and ignore the parts you don’t.

I have no quarrel with anyone who does not believe the same way I do, and I hope I do not come across that way.
I agree with you 100 percent. The Catholics are flat out wrong in stating there are other ways to God other than Jesus Christ.

I have said it before, Catholics follow the traditions of men, not the Bible or Christ. The Bible strongly warns against following the traditions of men. This is exactly what is happening with the Catholic Church and the Pope.

You’re right. If the Holy Roman Inquisition has shown us anything, it’s that matters of faith are much better better discussed in a dank dungeon with the heathen properly installed on a rack.

Only then can the proper physical stimuli be correctly applied to the doubter.

The internet… pffft! You’d have to use reason!

I’d rather be a Catholic than any other type of religion. If I’m going to be lied to, at least its steeped in tradition and history.

So unless a post shows some abs, it’s not a waist.

Damn you pookie, I don’t want none of your lurning around here!

People can’t accept Jesus by someone simply telling them that He exists and died for their sins. People can’t accept God by someone showing them a Bible. It is only the power of God working in the real world that will show people who Jesus really is. So if you don’t know Jesus, get ready to see Him at work in your lives by simply saying out loud “Jesus, if you exist, then show me.”

Good job Pook, that was getting on my nerves as well.

If you can also draw an ASCII shoe, we might be able to get a good guess at your bodyfat level…

Apparently, en masse!

i have a question to all of you:
Are you really happy with yourself, Do you actually think that you are living for the right cause. are you actually achieving anything, or are you just living a selfish life. Does your life actualy have a meaning. At the end of your life will you be happy? Will the way you have lived your life actualy be worth it. Will you have made a difference?

There is still time to change…
In Jesus, and only Jesus will you be able to be truley happy about who you are.

Just think about it…
What if there is a God.
Then living your life now for him would be worth it, you wouldn’t suffer any more.

Well, there is a God. And he’s watching you right now. waiting for you to make your decision.

I have had two ‘encounters’ with the Lord. Sure, these could be dismissed by someone with an ax to grind; there’s always an ‘alternative’ explanation.

But, I state now, in the presence of God and all of you, that there is a God, I’ve heard his voice and I have been in his presence. Take it as you will, insult my intelligence, whatever. I can only state the truth.

And may God bless each of you!

I think that’s awesome.

Protestant and Episcopalian laeders who say must be flat out wrong too. The world really is blind. There really are only those chosen few that see the chosen path! Everyone else is in trouble. Who knew? Wouldn’t it be a ludicrous world that sends selfless, kind and good people, who make this world a better place, and are devout believers in God to hell because they don’t follow the arbitrary rules of a particular tradition? Yup

This has…what to do with any religion? Ghandi made a hell of a difference. I don’t recall him being a crazed religious zealout.

Hell, Lenin and Trotsky made a difference too. Just like Jack London. Or Ernest Hemingway. Or Bob Dylan. I don’t remember any of these people being overtly religous…

Says you. You don’t know anyone else’s life, you’ve never walked in anyone else’s shoes. You are ARROGANT!

Who’s suffering? I dig life. Its interesting. And I don’t think God wants me to believe in him just because I should be scared not too. That’s called Pascal’s Wager. And its not faith- its self preservation.

Gimme a fucking break. Because you say there is a god means nothing to me or anyone else. But hey, can you quote the Bible to prove he exists? Cause you know, that would validate your points and make me look dumb.
