May I suggest that all the competitors wear rainbow colored capes?
They tried that back in the '80s. Didn’t go over too well. Who’d’ve guessed?

I think this would actually make the sport better. You would actually be combining the training aspect of bodybuilding along with how well the bodybuilders look on stage from a physical standpoint.

My thoughts are… that’s almost exactly what “bodybuilding” was back in the 1930s and '40s. “Athletic points” were earned by doing certain exercises (generally the Olympic lifts), and those points were combined with things like muscularity, symmetry, and overall appearance for a total score.
The Weiders eventually began holding contests that dropped that round from the competition and that’s how we got to bodybuilding today. Bringing back in an “exercise round” means you’d have guys who excel in a few exercises but aren’t that muscular but still win shows because of the points - the same problem they had back then, when very talented Olympic lifters would dominate the lifting round which compensated for their losing other physique-based rounds.
To me I’d think them performing lifts and pumping on stage while making grunting sounds and weird faces seems more gay than them just standing there flexing.
I competed once. Since I was concerned about looking gay, I wore combat boots (matched my thong) and had my girlfriend bring me a beer when I got onstage. I shotgunned that, smashed the can on my forehead then punched her in the face.
I came in dead-last, but that’s beside the point. I felt manly.

I didn’t think anyone would beat the Lesnar thread this year but this is an extremely strong contender very early on in the piece.
I sense a “good” year for the T-Nation forums.
Sometimes, you just need to sit back and enjoy the show
