A lot of families I knew did this. Including mine, to an extent. It’s really not that crazy - the kid doesn’t have their own phone/tablet/computer, and when they want to use one, do it at the dining room table.
It’s pretty unusual in this day and age, but maybe that’s not a terrible thing.
All I’d say on this topic is to give the Holy Bible the final word:
Philippians 4:8 - Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
All well and good but it’s objectively tough to put a lot of credence in a book where people divide oceans with sticks, a guy named Adam names every animal on earth (several million species, many of which are being discovered for the first time even today), same guy starts an inevitable incestuous family that somehow avoids incestuous issues while spawning humanity, people lived for hundreds of years and on and on.
The Bible lays out a workable philosophy for life full of illustrative stories for sure but you’re choosing to believe it literally and wholly despite phenomenally impossible content.
To each their own but it’s more subjective than you’re willing let yourself believe.
In love, brother (I presume), to give you credit, your response was intelligent, and analytical.
I don’t intend to get into a philosophical argument with you just yet.
All I can say, is that the Bible is the Truth, because it bears witness of Jesus.
And I know from personal experience that God can and does perform miracles. I can think of at least two occasions in my life when God has performed miracles in my personal story, praise God.
As such, I know there is nothing God cannot do.
Even moving the Red Sea with the sweep of a hand. After all, He made the heavens and the earth.
If swinging is difficult for you to grasp, and it may be over your head that “cuckoldry” is at best a sliver of what exists under the swinging umbrella, and you aren’t trying to dodge the actual question I suppose I understand given your general prudish stance.
How about anal sex between a legally and religiously married husband and wife? Oral? Positions other than missionary? Sex toy incorporation? Any sex beyond the goal of procreation? Are these signs of broken people and relationships too? Or is it an enjoyment of sex in preferential form?
Masturbation? Only to the point of not spilling seed is ok, or is it healthy to jack off to completion sometimes? And by what criteria?
I sincerely respect your choice of beliefs, but you do not “know” this or any of the other statements of known certainty you made in any objective sense.
You believe it, willfully, and without observation aside from a book full of stories not much different than other regional religions. Your belief is reinforced by a cultural sense of group think and participation, but it’s not “known” any more than the ancient Greeks “knew” Zeus or the rest of the pantheon.
God has never actually, objectively, made himself known to you. And unlike the ancients’ experience, there aren’t many unexplainable things to chalk up as supernatural anymore. Plagues, weather patterns et cetera.
Choice of belief and hope that it’s real are all that are left, without substantiation. And that’s ok, but it’s not the authority source you’re projecting outside of chosen submission, like choosing to abide by any organizations rules.
