POP! Goes the Democrat!

Well, they can tell you that only God can save you from the punishment you deserve. They can even try to convince you to accept God. What if one feels that he should be able to save himself? That might hurt his feelings. Plus: they’re so damn insistent that people turn to God and not be damned. Live and let live, folks. Worry about important things like whether people should be punished for possessing plants, and/or consensual transactions; don’t worry about people’s souls. Geez, Evangelicals! /s

Oooo, those bastards! Kill them all!

Nope.

No hate from me, @pat.

Straight from The Master himself, from the Sermon on the Mount:

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

Was he ever asked or accused?

The irony.

Have any of them ever told you that you’ll end up being tortured (deservedly so) for all eternity for not subscribing to their god?

I’m all for some good atheist hate, but the entire concept of religion judges non believers.

He would actually have had to have met them and then strike up a conversation/debate about religion. That sounds like something that never happened.

Pat also makes the mistake, because he isn’t that bright, of assuming anti-religion = atheist. If that were the case then all believers would also be atheists.

Tbh I can’t even think of the concept of what an atheist could say thats more judgemental than “you don’t believe the right things, so you deserve to be tortured for ETERNITY”

Christian (non-Mormon): Mormonism is some weird shit. Magic underwear? Really?
Atheist: well, it’s not like believing in a talking snake, burning bush or that someone walked on water and raised the dead isn’t strange in this day and age.
Christian (non-Mormon): you atheists are so damn judgmental. Enjoy Hell (along with the gays and Scientologists).

The Christian Bible says a multiude of times that God desires a relationship with humans - so they will not have an eternal punishment, but instead an eternal reward.

You atheists have selectively chosen and twisted the scripture to make yourself into a god, by considering your intellect as the most sovereign power in the universe. And contrary to the misquotation of judge not (which is specifically directed at believer to fellow believer), evangelism is spurred on by desire that an eternal punishment not befall ANYONE.

Only if you believe in free will.

That explains why we don’t have hundreds of different denominations.

This is a warped view of a concept you clearly don’t understand. Which is totally fine. Believers have no frame of reference to understand the thoughts of a non believer unless they’ve spent time in that thought.

Oh absolutely. My grandma would love to write me back into her will. I just need to stop being a heathen.

Fwiw, my comment was specifically at the concept that Atheists are more judgemental. I’m fine with people being judgemental. People should be judged by their fellow man for their actions/etc.

It’s part of the illogical argument that believers have constructed to attack atheism. It’s the idea that atheists have faith too (their lack of faith is actually a faith, their non-belief is a belief) and their atheism is like a religion.

Yeah, I know you’re a big softy…

No they tell me I am stupid for not thinking the way they do. They disregard anything I have to say and act all high and mighty like they know something I don’t.

And I don’t hate atheists, I just wish, like may people wish Christians would do, is keep their belief to themselves, especially when not asked.
There are atheists, who just don’t care. They are fine. The militant atheist, who unprompted and without asking proselytize their atheism drive me nuts. Happened just the other day for me.
I sat down next to a guy at a bar, politely said hello and proceeded to watch whatever game was on. He went from “Hello” to ‘I am a Buddhist’, to “Fuck God, fuck all this God stuff.” Loud as fuck, I am just trying to watch the damn game. My responses were neutral, ‘ok’, ‘sure’ ‘uh huh’. I wasn’t in the mood for an argument or a fight.
Unfortunately, this guy is a regular and he likes me, for some reason. I accidentally sat next to him again, sure as shit, he started up. But! The live band started shortly there after, which was why I was there. Saved me from a miserable encounter.

Something else that never happened.

There are good reasons for this that have nothing to do with religion.

Who doesn’t?

No it doesn’t. Some factions do, but not all 2 billion Christians in the world. I find proselytizing annoying and irritating in general, I don’t care who its from or what it’s about.

Grandma? Shit my Dad wrote me and my brother out of his will. It’s a fucked up twisted tale I won’t bother you with, but he was a real bad guy.

There’s a big difference between judging and proselytizing.
